  1. The Oldest Text reads differently though (LXX). It reads: 19 So shall they of the west fear the name of the Lord, and they that come from the rising of the sun his glorious name: for the wrath of the Lord shall come as a mighty river, it shall come with fury. However, if your point is that meanings have not changed by translations, that is incorrect (see some of the previous examples). Another example is that Jeconias was called a "childless" man and yet was an ancestor of Jesus. The original word in the text was not "childless" but "an outcast" and none of his seed would sit upon the throne after him. See: meforevidence.googlepages.com . Numbers, and even whole verses and in some cases, chapters are completely different. One example of a whole chapter missing in Psalms is Psalm 151 which is a Davidic Psalm. It was written in the LXX, and the Dead sea scrolls but left out of the later Masoretic texts. The writings of Josephus, and the Dead Sea scrolls also agree with the LXX with the height of Goliath. They agree on Goliath being just over 6 feet tall. It was not until 300 to 900 years after Jesus it was changed to over 9 feet tall. Take care, Billy
  2. There is more than one answer for the texts you have given. 1. Yes, indeed there are contradictions you have listed, but I have found that by going back to the most ancient texts and not the modern ones based on the late Masoretic text (close to 900 A.D.) there are far less contradictions. I refer to the LXX and the Peshitta as well as a few early Greeks written after the Syriac Peshitta such as the Vaticanus and Sinai Text. 2. The second answer is looking at the context. Sometimes we pick and choose verses and when we leave behind the context, it changes everything. For example. The Bible says
  3. Dear Trisha-Anne First of all, I understand. When I was younger, my family was not as rich (financially) as were most of the people at the congregation we went to. I can't tell you how many times we were hurt by words and actions of the very people that we looked to for encouragement and support from the world. This was a fork in the road for me. It would either make me or break me. I used the hurt and anger and turned that energy around into something positive. I realised that I am not living for them. I am living for God. Remember our Lord Jesus was not among the religeous popular either. Secondly, sometimes I believe we are hurt because we lack self love and self respect. We are hurt because we begin to believe the things told to us even when they are not true. Let God be your confidence. You might not only try prayer but meditations (Christian based of course). Look within and listen and let God fill you with His love. Well, I guess I rambled a little to much. Be strong. You are a child of the living God. I pray He will lead new friends and relationships to you for strength, happiness, peace and encouragement. God bless, Billy
