I believe you're referring to the places where it gives the qualifications for a bishop or elder. This might not apply to you. In any event, it appears that at least some of the early evangelists (some apostles, plus silas, timothy, barnabas) were not married at all! I don't know. I wouldn't be so dogmatic as to stipulate a certain fixed age. But most churches have a point when the kids "graduate" from the youth ministry to the (for lack of a better term) "adult" ministry, don't they? How can you say this if she is submitted to her senior pastor and husband? How is that going against Gods Word.

I can show you passages refering to how God has used women in the Bible. Looks like you're changing the subject now. Certainly, God has used women all through the ages, to act as his vessels. But I don't think this was the original subject of this thread. I thought we were talking about ministers who lead in Christian churches....?? The senior pastor asks her to supply preach for a weekend. He has asked her to this and her husband is also in agreement. This isn't her in authority, the senior pastor is still in authority and he is giving a place for her teacher, and dare I say pastor gifting. :x: If you can be a womens pastor then that means women can have a pastor gifting as well. It should not be wrong to utilize a gifted person, especially one who is under authority.

Seems to me that the authority divine writ should trump the "authority" of the pastor or her husband.

I'm sure that I could come up with a thousand other hypotheticals better than yours. But obedience to divine will should never be the servant of expediency. I attend a church of about 300 members. But even when we had less than 50, there were about a half-dozen men who were qualified to pinch-hit in the pulpit. If our senior pastor died today, we've got a succession plan about 50 people long. Certainly, for the long term, we'd prefer to have a pro. But for one Sunday, I say let the laymen earn their keep. Are you in a church where there are no qualified men? If so, then you've got a much bigger problem than the gender of the preacher, methinks.
