It is a very difficult thing to keep making bad decisions, and you aren't sure why you keep doing it.

We all have to remember, that drugs and alcohol, are used when other deeper issues are present, and guilt, fear, and self-condemnation, are what Satan is trying to impose on us again, and again.

Drugs of choice, or solutions of choice, can be, drugs, alcohol, pornography, oreo cookies with double stuff, sex, and obsession with the opposite, or even same sex.

I know when I did drugs, (years ago now) I was using them to cover feelings of guilt, over a dysfunctional upbringing, and I partied to the hilt, to escape the condemnation I felt for not being a better son, man, and even father, let alone a better Christian.

Satan constantly used my thoughts to impose his will in my life, and I wasn't knowledgable enough in God's Word at the time, to defeat him, and take my Jesus' Blood bought authority over him.

Satan would give me thoughts, (he attacks us in our thought life, it is written to take every thought captive, not every demon) and if I didn't take authority over him, and bind him, I would always fall for his lies.

Thoughts like, "you aren't good enough", you don't do enough. You are a bad father. He would come at me with about 80% of the truth of what I was really lacking in. There WAS times that I didn't do enough, and at the time, my daddyhood was in question. But he will use guilt to keep you captive, and try to make you believe that you have to get yourself together to come to the Throne of Grace.

God takes us as is. His Grace is more than sufficient for us. God does not condemn us when we are washed in the Blood of Jesus. If we aren't washed, we are condemned already. We are not sinners because we heaped up a bunch of sins, and needed forgiveness, we were born sinners. Quit being so hard on yourself, and see yourself as God see's you. God does not require guilt, pennance, or self-condemnation to forgive us of our sins. It is written that if we confess our sins, that He merciful, and just to forgive us, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Satan will give you a thought, and that thought left unbound, becomes an image. The image left, becomes a stronghold. The stronghold left becomes emotions run riot, and our emotions will lie to us. Listening to our emotions, and Not confessing the Word over a situation, causes us to make bad decisions, and bad decisions destroy our lives.

Our emotions running over us, like guilt, fear, condemnation, anger, pride, lack of self-esteem, and the like causes us to make bad decisions. And when Satan is able to deceive us again, and again, we will relapse, and go back to what we used to give us comfort to begin with.

You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free. But we need to have knowledge of that truth, before we can experience true freedom, and to start acting, and being doers of the Word. God bless you. Duane
