Daniel`s Vision of the Lord.

Daniel was in mourning for three weeks and then when he went down to the riverbank, he saw a wondrous vision of the Lord.

`Behold, a certain man clothed in linen, whose waist was guided with gold…His body was like beryl, His face like the appearance of lightning, His eyes like torches of fire, His arms, and feet like burnished bronze…and the sound of His voice of a multitude. ` (Dan. 10: 5 & 6)

Daniel was overcome, however the Lord told him not to fear for his prayers had come before God and that there had been a battle in the heavenlies.

The battle was between the powers of darkness and the Lord plus Michael the arch angel. Michael was Israel`s Prince and protector. The demonic forces that ruled in the realms of man`s rulership – Persia and later Greece, were vying for world domination.

The Lord, however, has the ultimate authority and He judged kings and empires. (see Dan. 5: 26 – 31)

The Lord then told Daniel that He had come to make him understand what will happen to Daniel`s people, (Israel) in the latter days. Daniel was again overcome however the Lord spoke peace to him and strengthened him.

The Lord explains to Daniel that a mighty king shall arise in Greece, (Alexander the Great) but after him his kingdom will be divided into four areas. The two empires near Israel are the Northern Seleucid empire, (former Assyria) and the Southern Ptolomaic Empire, (Egypt).

These two great empires – north and south of Israel have continue warfare down through the centuries, as described in Dan. 11: 4 - 35.

Then at the time of the end, (of the Gentiles ruling) at the `appointed time,` the king of the North will prevail. This is the region of Iraq, Syria and Jordan and is where the final Gentile Leader will arise.
