The Sobering Situation in Israel

In an analysis of Israel’s strategic threat environment and imperatives published at the Claremont Review of Books, author and military analyst Mark Helprin distinguished the threat Hamas poses to Israel from the threat Israel faces from Hezbollah-controlled Lebanon and Iran.

Hamas, Helprin explained, is not and has never been an existential threat to Israel. Hezbollah and Iran are existential threats to Israel. Hezbollah’s arsenal of 150,000 rockets and missiles of all ranges and payloads can decimate Israel’s strategic and military infrastructure, as well as its economy. …

[O]n Wednesday, the U.N.’s International Atomic Energy Agency issued a scathing report on Iran’s nuclear program. … Iran now has at least 128.3 kilograms of 60% enriched uranium that can be quickly enriched to bomb-grade levels sufficient to build three nuclear bombs. …the IAEA is convinced Iran has undeclared nuclear material at four sites. …

Helprin summarized Iran’s missile capabilities thusly: “Iran’s minimum of 3,000 ballistic missiles and land-attack cruise missiles of at least 26 types include 15 varieties capable of reaching Israel, with warheads from 1,650 to 2,200 pounds. … Though Israel’s missile defenses can degrade a missile barrage, they cannot prevent catastrophic damage.” https://carolineglick.com/israels-strategic-imperative/ 11/19/23

In our Latter Days, the government of Iran is showing itself to be representative of Daniel 11:40’s “King of the South,” because only it – both directly and by means of its proxiesis an aggressor of the type prophesied:

And at the time of the end, the King of the South shall lock horns with him [the King of the North]: and the King of the North shall storm against him with chariots, with cavalry, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the lands, and shall overflow and pass through. 41 And he shall enter into the Glorious Land [Israel], and many shall stumble/waver [lit, become weak-legged]

Iran’s aggressiveness has so far been moderated enough to not elicit this prophesied “storm” by the NATO [North Atlantic Treaty Organization] nations. This latest attack by Hamas, along with the moderate attacks from Hezbollah against northern Israel, and the drone and missile attacks from Yemen’s Iranian-supported Houthis, and the Iranian-supported militia attacks from Syria and Iraq against American bases, and the seizure of the West-owned cargo ship in the Red Sea, and the Iranian drone attack upon an Israeli-owned container ship in the Indian ocean, have ratcheted up the tension, but not yet to the boiling point.

What has been demonstrated by the attacks upon Israel, however, is the instability of its coalition government, and the two-faced nature of the American government in its dealings with Israel. While Israel had been presenting the appearance of unity, opposition leader Yair Lapid suddenly announced on November 15 that he wants to oust Netanyahu from being prime minister. This is a foresign of Daniel 11:41’s prophesied “weak-legged” Israeli leadership, which hasn’t been able to create a stable government for many years, thereby making it susceptible to meddling from NATO and especially the Biden regime:

The [Biden] administration [has] demand[ed] that Israel abandon Gaza after the war; permit Hamas’s junior partner the Palestinian Authority to take over on the backs of IDF soldiers; and commit to the establishment of a Palestinian state in Gaza, Judea and Samaria, and Jerusalem…

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected this U.S. demand. In response, U.S. officials and former officials began briefing reporters that they seek the replacement of the government with “more moderate” actors. – Glick, op cit.

Israel: enemies without, frenemies within and without. Iran: openly stating that its goals are the overthrow of the “great Satan” America and the eradication of the “little Satan” Israel. Also continuously threatening to shut down the choke-points of the Persian Gulf and the Red Sea, through which much of the world’s oil supply is shipped.

All of these things setting the stage for the fulfillment of the “time of the end” of Daniel 11:40 and following, which events progress unto –

12:1 …a time of trouble such as never was since there was a nation even to that time…

= Matthew 24:21 For then there will be great tribulation such has not been since the beginning of the world until now, no, nor shall ever be again.

Stay tuned for more updates…’

Whatever involves Israel will involve the whole world, there will be no escape from it for anyone, everyone will be on one side or the other in the end, and almost all will be against Israel and end up being destroyed for it just when it seems that Israel is going to be destroyed instead.

This is what I expect to see, but how soon I know not.

(and I don't discount that I may be wrong)

...and the tensions tick up between the Western alliance and Iran and it's proxies, as the former are drawn into a greater combat role.
