The Kingdoms of this World.

As the nations of the world developed, they formed great kingdoms. God gave them an opportunity to rule. Here we read of Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon.

`You, O King, are a king of kings. For the God of heaven has given you a kingdom, power, strength, and glory; and wherever the children of men dwell, or the beasts of the field and the birds of heaven, He has given them into your hand, and has made you ruler over them al…` (Dan. 2: 17 & 18)

However, God will judge the rulers of the kingdoms. This judgment is upon Belshazzar, a later ruler of Babylon. God says –

“God has numbered your kingdom, and finished it;….

You have been weighed in the balances, and found wanting;…

Your kingdom has been divided and given to the Medes and Persians.”  (Dan. 5: 25 – 28)

Satan thought he ruled the kingdoms of the world and even offered them to Jesus.

`And the devil took Him (Jesus) up on an exceedingly high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory.

And he said to Him, “All these I will give to you if you will fall down and worship me.` (Matt. 4: 8)

Satan had yet to learn that it is God who rules over all. King Nebuchadnezzar eventually came to realise this.

`For His (God`s) dominion is an everlasting dominion, and His kingdom is from generation to generation…` (Dan. 4: 34)

After God`s judgments in the tribulation the kingdoms of this world become the kingdoms of the Lord.

`The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign for ever and ever. ` (Rev. 11: 15)
