The Parable/Mystery of the Mustard Seed, Part 2
The Parable/Mystery of the Mustard Seed, Part 2
From Part 1:
“ Matthew 13:31 … “The kingdom of the heavens is like unto a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field, 32 which indeed is the least of all seeds; but when it is grown it is greater than all the herbs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of heaven come and dwell in its branches.
...this mystery of the birds is revealed in the Tanakh/Old Testament, as well as other records from the Hebraic roots of the faith. No amount of post-Gospel rationalism can decipher the meaning. ... (1) So what are the birds, and (2) what is the kingdom of the heavens? ”
First, what the birds are:
Ezekiel 31:3 Behold, the Assyrian [Kingdom] was [like] a cedar [tree] in Lebanon with fair branches, and with a forest-like shade, and of high stature... 5 So its stature was exalted above all the trees of the field; and its boughs were multiplied, and its branches became long... 6 All the birds of the heavens made their nests in its boughs; and under its branches did all the beasts of the field bring forth their young: so under its shadow dwelt all great nations.
Daniel 4:10 Thus were the visions of my head upon my bed: I saw, and, behold, a tree [Nebuchadnezzar’s Kingdom] in the midst of the earth; and the height thereof was great. 11 The tree grew, and was strong, and the height thereof reached unto heaven, and the sight thereof to the end of all the earth. 12 The leaves thereof were fair, and the fruit thereof much, and in it was food for all: the beasts of the field had shadow under it, and the birds of the heavens dwelt in the branches thereof: so all flesh was fed from it.
Jasher 41:27 ...[Joseph’s brothers] rose upon him and seized him... 28 ...and cast him into a pit... 42:5 And whilst they were discoursing about this matter, ...seven trading men of Midian passed by them...and they lifted up their eyes and saw the pit in which Joseph was immured...and behold, every species of birds was upon him.
Birds = heavenly/spiritual nations. Beasts = earthly/carnal nations.
Second, what the kingdom is:
Luke 17:20 ... “The kingdom of God is not coming with observation; 21 neither shall they say, Lo, here! or, There! for lo, the kingdom of God is within you.”
Matthew 21:42 Jesus said to them, "Have you never read in the Scriptures: The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. This came from the Lord and is wonderful in our eyes? 43 Therefore I tell you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you [the Jewish people] and given to a nation producing its fruit.
The Kingdom of God is a nation within whom is the Gospel-Seed/Word of God.
So who and where is this kingdom and nation? These questions have been answered here:
