Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already
Never die, how that works
Matt 10 26 Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known. 27 What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops. 28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear Him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
Christians don't fear the death of the flesh and blood because they don't die
2 Corinth 8
6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: 7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) 8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. 9Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him. 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
And having just learned in the previous book
1 Corinth 15
20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. 21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.
and the words of Jesus Himself
John 11
21 Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died. 22 But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee. 23 Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again. 24 Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day. 25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
At that time they were those 'who slept', and their graves were opened, just as the prophecy said
Eze 37
11 Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts. 12 Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel. 13And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves, 14And shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the LORD have spoken it, and performed it, saith the LORD.
And He will bring them to the land of Israel when Christ returns we find in Rev 19
14 And the armies which were in heaven followed Him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean...
will be those who we find in 20
4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them:
But to those under the New Covenant He said (back in John 11 again)
26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in Me shall never die. Believest thou this?
And we know we follow Him because He told us
John 14
1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto Myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. 4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. John 14
That isn't a pre trib rapture of the Gentile Church, that is the never ending life in Christ for those who SLEEP. So don't fear man who can kill the body because it is only the flesh and blood body, not the spiritual body and not the soul.
Back to 1 Corinth 15
35 But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come? 36 Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die: 37 And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain: 38 But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body.
42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption: 43 It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: 44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. 45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. 1 Cor 15
By that we know with what body we rise
And from that same chapter we know we don't return for a body "at a last day" because
50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
Which all together gives us the ERR of teaching a last day resurrection only, not so different from those who taught a past only resurrection
16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. 17 And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus; 18 Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some. 19Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
It wasn't ALREADY PAST, it was/is past present and future and that is how we comfort one another...knowing those of the first resurrection don't die but go on to heaven to be where He is until they return in the army of the Lord to be priests for 1000 years...
1 Thess 4, also not about pre trib rapture but life never ending in Christ
13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
No hope of not dying,
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with Him.
We sleep in Jesus while they, the dead, die and go to the grave as one of the dead and resurrect as one of the dead but hopefully they will, at the end of the Lords Day, get their name in the book of life, and finally come to life eternal...
