I can understand the concern of the churches/worship centers being concerned with the financial burden this would create. But I think the point is being missed. The government itself has been distancing itself from religion, as a whole, due to the separation of church and state advocates. It does seem somewhat of a double standard that the government would condone the mussling of religious expression on government property and still find itself worthy to regulate or monitor the the inner workings of those same churches.

Thats great, just what Israel needs. If Hamas sets up shop in Gaza it will be a nightmare for Israel. I can only imagine what their childrens shows are/will be like. I doubt we will see Barney toting a missile launcher. They will probably advertise terrorist training camps like we advertise cruises or vacation resorts.

Judge gives child-rapist 60-day sentence
O'Dannyboy replied to boblandis's topic in Most Interesting News Developments
The Oreily factor had two guests on last night to disguss the judge and this sentance. Both the guests defended the judges decission. Bill was disgusted, as was I. For the two guests, just like the judge, morality and ethics did not factor in, only the law. So as far as the judge or the two guests were concerned, as long as it was "legal" who are we to question it?. God help us once the liberals are back in power. -
Advertisers drop 'Book of Daniel'
O'Dannyboy replied to boblandis's topic in Most Interesting News Developments
Its sad, they can blast garbage like this into our houses via cable but they want to outlaw any elective classes that discuss "religion " from public schools. They can swear and flash the public on television effectively "teaching" our children that this is ok, but to include studies of the Bible in public school should be outlawed? -
Please don't put words in my mouth. I didn't say that God destroyed the mans house. I am saying PERHAPS he did. Who are you to say he didn't?

Describe to me then what it means to be made in his image. Do we look like him? If that were so then how would that make us more important than any of his other creations? If we are a spritual reflection of him, or meant to be, then would we not care for his creations just as much as he does? I have met those who think they are holy because they are created in Gods' image. Would you not call that pride? To hold ones self up at all is pride in my opinion. If you did not have any pride then you would not be offended by my saying that, a certain action or to think a certain thing, was a result of pride. Please consider your tone when you respond and refrain from attacking/labeling my thinking as "unbiblical". Please show me where I said we should not kill or that killing was not necessary. I am saying that causing another of Gods creature unnecessary pain is wrong. I am saying that we should not consider the creatures of this world as so insignificant that the suffering of an animal should mean nothing to us. We should kill animals as we find it necessary but we should also extend the same amount of mercy God has shown us unto those creatures which we are meant to rule.
-
It is GOD who is our host and it is his creation which we inhabit. God views us as more important than the creatures of the earth but to say or think you are better is to have pride. We are saved by GRACE which is afforded us by Jesus sacrifice. We DO NOT deserve anything. We are not worthy of the mercy we are shown. Mankind holds itself in higher regard than it should which is pride which does NOT contribute to piety or righteousness.

Its not like this was a kill or be killed situation folks. He killed the mouse for simply existing. The necessity here is a matter of opinion. Again I say we are stewards and shepherds and not kings and queens. I cannot quote it, but Jesus told a parable about three men to whom he had given a gold piece. The first invested it, the second loaned it to a friend and the third buried it? They each in turn gave to Jesus the coin plus all they had gained from its usury. The first gave him 5 coins, the second two coins and the third was ordered to give his coin to the man who had two. Though I am no scholar I have to question whether we are interpreting Genesis 1:26 properly. We are guests here, sure we are being told to make ourselves at home, but I think we are abusing our hosts generosity. I think some of you value your possessions just a little too much. "It's easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle" remember? Sure, the loss of his house is extreme, in terms of punishment, for what he did, but he did deserve to be punished. If we believe that God is in total control, even to remove Sharon from being an influence in Israel, then surely he had a reason to destroy this mans house. Perhaps the mouse was only the tip of the iceburg.

Topics such as this one have always been a soft spot for me. Some people don't quite get it. Its not the act of "disposing" of pests that is at issue. Its the fact that the man hurled the MOUSE (not rat) into a fire. It would have made just as much sense to stake the poor thing to an ant hill. The natural order of things is to kill as its necessary and to do so quickly. For those that have a conscience, to cause as little pain as possible when doing so. Take a look at the world around us where there are numerous species of animals, of whom we are stewards, not just rulers. Many of them are endangered, some even extinct, thanks to mankinds shortsightedness. We continue to act as though "earth, and everything in it, was created for man, not man for the earth" so to speak. We polute it and continue to exhaust its resources, not simply to meet our needs, but to satisfy our wants and provide us with pleasure. Meanwhile we the "haves" take for granted everything given us that is in excess of our needs. Perhaps I am being a little too sentimental concerning myself with the suffering of creature other than man. So be it. Think of it as a sign of humility. I for one do not think of myself as being more important than another of Gods creatures. I have known too many people who would not hesitate to run over any any animal that was in their way. In my opninion, compassion and mercy are earmarks for love, and like love, mercy and compassion do not descriminate.

This is soooo true. Thanks all for your input.

Thank you for correcting my spelling. Understand that I did not say that PETA should file a law suit against him, only that I wouldn't be surprised if they did. They are activists after all and the more publicity they can get the better. I fully understand the scripture regarding the creatures of the earth, however I don't think it justifies their cruel treatment. Do you suppose that the kings of old, because they ruled the people, were justified in sentencing people to burn to death? If we rule the animals and creepy crawly things of the earth that justifies toturing them at will? Perhaps its a bit extreme, but so was his method to rid himself of the mouse. I admit I have no affinity for the creepy crawlies, but I would not care to see them suffer either. Swatting a mosquito or fly on the other hand cannot be considered suffering but rather a death more likely to be considered instant. Though the death of most living things is natural and even required that others may live, I don't see where pain is necessary. You mean to say that burning an animal to death is not animal abuse? If he had to get rid of the mouse he should have stepped on it which would be almost instant like with the fly or the mosquito. I have watched a cat play with a mouse, a killer whale with a sea lion and even saw a person put a bottle rocket in the mouth of a frog to see what it would do. I don't think that neither the mouse, sea lion or frog thought it was fun or fair in the least. Bottom line, causing another creature unnecessary pain and suffering is wrong and taking pleasure in the pain of another creature, human or not, is simply evil.

Most of the bases I have ever been to had a generic "protistant" church and a Catholic Church. The Protistant churches seemed to me to be preaching a generic message which, at the time, did nothing to sway my opinion of "organised religion". In the time that I cried out for freedom from my sinful nature the only light in my life surely had to have been the Holy Spirit. It does seem, however, that there are many, if not the majority, that need someone to guide or intorduce them to their savior Jesus. Sadly, by restricting or prohibiting the use of Jesus name, they effectivly delay or prevent some peoples salvation. Its likely that all these things that stir us are meant to happen and even to call us to action for his names sake.

Abbas is apparently useless. For a short time it appeared as though the PA wanted peace and stability. It is apparent that, with exception to palestinian Christians, the majority of Palestinians do indeed share this sentiment. Unless the world community steps in to correct the teaching of false history to the Palestinian children this conflict will continue to perpetuate untill the return of Christ. The PA has received alot of aid from the U.S. as well as other nations, since the withdawl, in an effort to further the peace process. Instead, it seems as though this money is not being used as it was intended. I would hope that the countries giving aid to the palestinians would reconsider doing so, understanding that they are only encouraging palestinian anti-semitism.

Rocket barrage 'if Sharon dies'
O'Dannyboy replied to boblandis's topic in Most Interesting News Developments
Here is some interesting info: reference this link. According to the numbers shown at the web site I have referenced, the arabs outnumbered and were immigrating to Palestine faster than the Jews. It almost looks like they were trying to squeeze out the Jews. -

Here is an iteresting quote. Or how about this one: The more I read the more angry I get about the whole Palestinian farse. The arabs, particularly the muslims drummed up this lie to justify persecuting the Jews further. All the nations that unjustly persecute and kill jews will ultimately answer to God and as the Bible say they will wish they had not even been born. -

Rocket barrage 'if Sharon dies'

Wrong friend. Though their ancestors did live there during the absense of the Jews, that does not make it their land. I suppose once you leave your house to go to work its open season for whoever gets their first. The land of canaan was promised to the Jews and God has kept his promise. Technically they were not evicted or disposessed as you put it. The Jews (zionists) moved back to the territory known as Palestine and lived among the people seemingly peacefully. As the Jews flourished they would hire the Arabs to do work for them. The Arabs increased in number in accordance to the amount of work available. The day came when Israel became a nation in the eyes of the most influential countries, which in turn kicked off the 6 day war. Even after that war the arabs were not pushed away, but rather, they gathered together into communities and lived in relative harmony with the jews untill the day came when someone who hated jews declairs a holy war on Jews for their land based on corrupted teaching of history and tied it to Islam (which is also corrupt teaching). Their claim to Israel is unquestionable in my eyes. Our claim to North American soil is not so historical, but history shows that if our ancestors hadn't colonised America someone surely would have. I understand the American Indians got a raw deal, but it pales in comparison to what the Jews have had to endure. -

Rocket barrage 'if Sharon dies'
O'Dannyboy replied to boblandis's topic in Most Interesting News Developments
I personally do not condemn or dismiss ALL palestinians for the actions of a few (thousands). My heart goes out to our Christian brothers and sisters there who face increasing persecution in Israel. I am sure that EVERYONE here at Worthy Boards is aware that it is not the palestinian Christians who are committing these acts of terrorism, nor is it likely they will be the ones dancing in the streets should Sharon pass away. The fact remains that the Palestinian militants and Hamas will not be placated or satiated by the reliquishing of a few strips of land. As long as the Palestinian people not only tolerate but praise militants/terrorists they will continue to suffer the reprisals directed at them, and as long as there are Palestinian militants they will continue to share the blame for their actions.
