  1. Ok I'm fixing to start a one year bible plan but I've run in to a bit of a snag. The site that I went to that gives me a one year bible plan has something weird going on and thought maybe one of you kind folks could help me make sense of it. Now here is an example of one day study plan Genesis 1:1-2:25 Matthew 1:1-2:12 Psalm 1:1-6 Proverbs 1:1-6 Now you take Genesis 1:1-2:25 now what I gather is that its wanting me to read chapter 1, verse 1-2 but I can't figure out what the 25 part is all about. Can some one help me make sense of this.
  2. The fact that man created God separate from all other life forms and created man in His image, precludes man evolving from some other life form, much sharing a common ancestor from another life form. The Bible says that man was created from the dust of the earth. The text indicates that man was created directly from the dust. It does not say that created an organism from dust that later evolved into God's image/likeness. The text is unambiguous on that point. First off please forgive me I know that I responding a bit late to this but I been sort of busy and this first I could respond. The truth of the matter is this, so much time has passed sense the creation of life on this planet, so many piece of the puzzle are lost and we may never know the truth. I do not believe that the universe nor life just popped in to existance, there is to much evidence that says other wise. Please understand this does not mean I do not believe God is incapable of doing so only that he didn't. We have enough scientific evidence to show that the universe evolved over time. As far as man goes I don't have the answers and to be honest I don't think any of use know for sure. I think that Genesis is not meant to be taken literally. I believe Genesis is from Gods point of view. I believe that the end resaults were all that matter to God, not the process and that is why the bible does not talk about evolution. I also believe that the other reason it wasn't put in the bible was because it would be beyond mans grasp of understanding and more to the point is that it didn't really matter in God mind. I accept Genesis as truth from God's point of view. I think as interesting as science is at the end of the Day what matters is that God did it, how he did it really doesn't matter. Science is glimps in to God creation but more to the point it is a glimps in to the process that God used. That is my belief.
  3. Where does it say God snapped His fingers? How does science disprove God
  4. The Bible tells us, in Genesis, exactly how God created man. He reached down and molded man from the dust of the ground and breathed life into him; that man was created in His image. Nowhere does it say he allowed apes to evolve into humans. Your right the bible does say that but again I got back to what I orignally stated, it does explain exactly how he exactly did it. If you explore the scientific theory out there some of them actually support the bible, just not in the way that Christians believe. Some Christian believe that God just snapped his fingers and the universe just popped in to existance, that is plane rediculas, especially when sceince proves other wise. We know that the building blocks that make up on life on this planet are also found in comets. What a lot of scientist believe is that a comet passed by the earth close enough and deposited those elements, they mixed with the primemortal soup and this triggered the begin stages of life on this planet. When you look at the world and what it consisted of at the time it actually fits with what the bible says. I'm not a scientist nor am I an expert on this but you can look it up and find out for your self. Again I got back to what I orginally stated, the bible gives use a vague account it doesn't tell use everything. Science has holes and it doesn't have all the answers and maybe it never will but that doesn't mean that there isn't some element of truth in what science has revealed, and maybe science will bring the picture in closer as time goes on. Gen was designed to tell use that God created the world to show use his awsome power, to make use realize he is in control of the universe he is the suprem God. It wasn't meant to give use all the answers.
  5. This argument always cracks me up because every one see this topic in Black and white, and there is a shred of grey area. Science and Christians don't have all the answers on the creation of man and how God created the universe and life. The bible says that he created the heavens and the earth it doesn't go explain how he did it. I'll give you an example. Then God said, "Let lights appear in the sky to separate the day from the night. Let them mark off the seasons, days, and years. Let these lights in the sky Shine down on the earth." and that is what happen. God made two great lights the larger one to govern the day, and the smaller one to govern the night. He also made the stars. God set these lights in the sky to light the earth, to govern the day and night, and to separate the light from the darknass. And God saw that it was good. and evening passed and morning came, marking the fourth day. Genesis 14-19 Now if you read that it doesn't explain how he did it only that he did it. Now are a few reason why the bible doesn't give us a detailed account of how God created everything. The first reason is because it would fill up volumes and volumes of books. It wasn't important for use to know how he did it but that he did it. Now don't get me wrong that doesn't mean science isn't important because it is. It was more important to make use understand that God created the universe. The second reason is because all that knowledge would beyond are understanding, even today if we had all that info we still wouldn't understand it. The third reason is that he knew what we would do with that information. I mean look at the world around use, were destroying this world little by little. We use science to build weapons to wage war. Now imagin if we had all the knowledge of the universe, can you imagin what we would do with that knowledge, we would use it for death and destruction. Now does man come from an ape, probably not. However that doesn't mean that we didn't evolve from something. The bible says that God created man in his own image, it doesn't say how he did it. There could have been a process and from God's point of view, the process didn't matter because man was the finally conclussion of the very thing he was trying to create. Genesis gives use the basics to understand that God created the world but it doesn't tell use everything and for the reasons I have all ready given. The fact is that science and christians need to work together to find the answers and stop fighting with one another on the subject of creation. I can honestly say that I don't know how God created the universe only that he did. I believe the answer can be found in science but any and all discoverys are a gift from God.
