  1. Here's the story I was referring to... "The Little Boy"
  2. I was thinking about this question, and I think that it's a lot like the story about the little boy who said a lot of hurtful things to people, and as a lesson, his parents told him to take a board and pound nails into it, and then remove the nails.
  3. Maybe I will check those out, John, thanks for the suggestion !
  4. Hey WISDOM, Actually, I'm not reading anything right now. I've kind of been in a "bleah" as far as reading goes, so I haven't read anything serious or good in a long while. I reckon I need to "de-bleah" and get back to reading soon.. got any suggestions ? Mel
  5. John, is "Where is God When It Hurts" a recommendable book ? --Mel
  6. Hi Wisdom I'm so glad you're enjoying that book, I'd have felt bad if you didn't !
  7. WISDOM, How are you liking "Fresh Power" ? (or have you finished it yet ?) Mel
  8. Mel is definitely ok with me, not offensive at all. I've been Mel all of my life, why change now ? hehe I like the way Max Lucado "talks" in his books, it's not just a boring list of information, it's more of a conversation, he tells jokes and stories as if he's talking to someone face-to-face. I myself haven't read any of TD Jakes' books, but my aunt has and I know that she has enjoyed them. ----Mel
  9. Yeah, I really have enjoyed Max Lucado's books, at first I didn't even want to give them a try, I tend to be kind of ornery in that if it's "popular" I don't usually read it. But, once I began to read his books, I understood why they were popular, he really does have a way with words! --Mel
  10. Hey Wisdom, Now that I've convinced you to read "Fresh Power" I hope that you enjoy it or I'll feel really bad ! One of my all-time favorites is "In His Steps" and it's modern day counterpart "What Would Jesus Do?" Right now I'm kind of in the middle of 3 or 4 books, a "Cult" series, explaining different cults and their beliefs... "In The Eye of The Storm" by Max Lucado "Billy Graham" (his life story) Mark Lowry's books are great for easy reading/laughs. I read one when I was in college and my roommate often wondered about me, I'd just laugh and laugh at the stories Mark would tell. ---Melanie
  11. Hey Wisdom, Fresh Power is a great book. I reckon I'm just the opposite, I don't tend to be too understanding of the non-fiction, so I tend to read more fiction. When I do read non-fiction I pester everyone with a zillion questions. lol
  12. Hey Wisdom, Have you read the other 2, "Fresh Faith", and "Fresh Power" ?
  13. Max Lucado Jim Cymbala (his "Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire" series was good) Gilbert Morris' series' were good, too Jesus Freaks by DC Talk was a really good book, too ! I haven't read too much Jeanette Oke, but the ones I have read were good, and my aunt loves em. umm, that's all I can think of for now (Edited by Melanie at 2:09 pm on Feb. 13, 2002)
  14. Hey George.. and everyone else Thanks for the information on Mormonism, and the site links. I was chatting on IM with my cousin, and she said that the Mormons had just left her house, and they wanted to return on Monday...she said she wanted to hear what they had to say. I remembered seeing this topic, so I came here and copied a little to her and one of the site links. After she read some, she said she wouldn't let them come back! Sooo.. thanks for your help. Melanie
