  1. This has nothing to do with a time frame for creation. you are trying too hard now. Actually it does.. How about the flood? Did only 8 people survive in the ark? Was it a worldwide flood which covered the whole Earth? Were there pairs of animals on the ark?
  2. Yep, Adam and Eve were the first humans. This verse speaks of nothing else. It has nothing to do with creation or the time it took. Actually that is what it says. How about the flood? Did only 8 people survive in the ark? Was it a worldwide flood which covered the whole Earth? Were there pairs of animals on the ark?
  3. God gave man a pattern for the perfect work week. God gave us the same pattern for using the land, 6 years of work, 1 year of rest for the land. This dose not prove that the days were 24 hours anymore than a verse about God stretching out His hand proves he has a physical hand like ours. Does the Feast of the Tabernacle being 8 days long prove Moses and the Israelites wandered in the desert for 8 days? God does not interact with time as we do, does God really have a start and end to His days? Do you limit God to our experiences? False reasoning. You are reasoning in circles. How about the flood? Did only 8 people survive in the ark? Was it a worldwide flood which covered the whole Earth? Were there pairs of animals on the ark?
  4. Do you? How about the flood? Did only 8 people survive in the ark? Was it a worldwide flood which covered the whole Earth? Were there pairs of animals on the ark?
  5. and those that argued for a fixed earth said the very same thing. At the time it was written the word 'yom" had multiple meanings, you cannot put yourself in the mind of those who first read this, so all you doing is make an assumption to support your own point of view. we are back to your circular reasoning. Plus you are doing the very thing that you have told others they could not do, make assumptions about those to whom this was first written. Never for 6 days. The Bible is in English. Never for 6 numbered days. Never for days with evening and morning.
  6. The Holy Bible is quite clear. God spoke the following words once and wrote it twice with His own finger into stone. Six days is six days. At the time this was spoken and written (circa 1500 BC) that is 24 hour days. If it weren’t six 24-hour days God would have lied or deceived the Israelites. Exodus 20:11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. Look at Genesis 1. From the above verse, the whole chapter took only 6 days. It is always days throughout the whole chapter. The days are numbered. Notice also that the day is divided into evening and morning. Notice the order of creation does not match the order given by the Big Bang theory of billions of years. The Sun is created on day 4, the Earth day 1. The trees are created on day 3, but the fish are created on day 5. Also note that in verse 31, at the end of day 6, God said it was very good. But the long ages theory would have had death, disease, and suffering of a multitude of creatures for over billion years at this point. Does not sound very good at all. Adam and Eve would have looked at God and said “are you kidding me?” No wonder they did not believe God in Genesis 3. Genesis 1:1-31 1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. 3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. 4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. 5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day. 6 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. 7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. 8 And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day. 9 And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. 10 And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good. 11 And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. 12 And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good. 13 And the evening and the morning were the third day. 14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: 15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. 16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. 17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, 18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. 19 And the evening and the morning were the fourth day. 20 And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. 21 And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. 22 And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. 23 And the evening and the morning were the fifth day. 24 And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so. 25 And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good. 26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. 28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. 29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. 30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so. 31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day. Jesus Christ said: Mark 10:6 But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. The Big Bang theory has people created after about 12 billion years. The Holy Bible has it as only in day 6. Jesus also said: Luke 11:50-51 50 That the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation; 51 From the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zacharias which perished between the altar and the temple: verily I say unto you, It shall be required of this generation. That would hardly match 12 billion years later. Anyone trying to claim long ages will never be able to defend the worldwide flood in the days of Noah. Genesis 7:11-24 11 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. 12 And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights. 13 In the selfsame day entered Noah, and Shem, and Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah's wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, into the ark; 14 They, and every beast after his kind, and all the cattle after their kind, and every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind, and every fowl after his kind, every bird of every sort. 15 And they went in unto Noah into the ark, two and two of all flesh, wherein is the breath of life. 16 And they that went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him: and the Lord shut him in. 17 And the flood was forty days upon the earth; and the waters increased, and bare up the ark, and it was lift up above the earth. 18 And the waters prevailed, and were increased greatly upon the earth; and the ark went upon the face of the waters. 19 And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills, that were under the whole heaven, were covered. 20 Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered. 21 And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man: 22 All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land, died. 23 And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark. 24 And the waters prevailed upon the earth an hundred and fifty days. Just curious. Do you believe that there was a worldwide flood and that the only people that survived were the 8 people on the ark?
  7. I do not believe Jesus was that light. But if the Earth rotated at the same rate then any directional light source at a certain distance or more would make a solar day. you are now making assumptions about the "light". You assume it was a directional light source at a certain distance. This is not indicted in the Bible. This is more circular reasoning Again there is no circular reasoning. Genesis 1 says 6 days. They are numbered. They have evening and morning. Exodus 20:11 is unmistakable. For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. Spoken by God once. Written by God twice.
  8. I do not think Genesis is concerned with our modern perceptions of the Earth and Solar system. I think the ancient Hebrews believed in a flat Earth covered with a dome/firmament where the celestial objects revolved around us. I also think that Genesis 1 is poetic in nature. What I'm getting at is I suspect they would have no slot for time zones on Earth, and measuring a day without a Sun wouldn't pose the problems we would associate with the dilemma. I'll agree that evening and morning can be ambiguous, but from everything I've seen I do think the days fall into 24 hour days. However, to read it as plain history does a disservice to the religious tradition IMHO. To bounce off of Candice, I do see the spiritual lessons as the main importance of the story, not the length of the days. I think the Holy Bible is quite clear that is was 6 days for creation. One could try to interpret Genesis 1 as a story about spiritual truth. The language does look like an actual record and thus literal.
  9. I do not believe Jesus was that light. But if the Earth rotated at the same rate then any directional light source at a certain distance or more would make a solar day.
  10. The attempt to divide out abiogensis from evolution is one of the most fraudulent acts of pure deception. Many people are not even aware of this con job which just shows that they have been deceived. The claim is evolution from chemicals to mankind. This would include the first living creature, The evolutionists try to divide into 2 separate pieces. But logically the 2 pieces must add up to the whole. Thus the 2 pieces must be from atoms to the first living creature and from the first living creature to mankind. But the evolutionist does not want to talk about the first creature at all, but starts with a much more advanced creature. Even if you divide out abiogenesis, the evolutionist must start at the first creature, else it is a fraud and con job of hiding a very important gap. . Then they must talk about the second, third, fourth, fifth, through at least the millionth creature which is still more primitive than where the evolutionists starts. The con job then allows for biogenesis to be no more than a small chain of amino acids. But that is not the first creature at all, And you will not get to man from there. I know a con job when I see it. Did they fool you? Even more outrageous are the number of people who believe that pigs do not have wings and cannot fly! The claim that they do not is one of the most fraudulent acts of pure deception, because I say so! So many people aren't even aware that they've been conned into thinking these pink little creatures are land bound. But it's a plot! A conspiracy of epic proportions! I know a con job when I see it! Did they fool you? Of course an evolutionist actually wrote a book called The Wonderful Egg (I think that was the title.) In it a dinosaur laid an egg and out popped a bird which flew into a tree and sang. It was meant for children.
  11. It is true that there are many interpretations to the Holy Bible. That is clearly seen by all the various denominations. The Holy Bible is very clear though in what it says. The key is to rightly divide the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. That will lead to Paul as the apostle of the Gentiles (Romans 11:13)
  12. It is almost uncanny how the actions of some people who believe in a young earth mirror those that believed in a fixed earth. The accusations are a tool to try and get one to change their point of view out of fear of being excluded. I offer my sincere apology for offending you. It was uncalled for. Yours Sincerely, Mark
  13. This is from the Holy Bible and you cannot explain it. God spoke the following words once and wrote it twice with His own finger into stone. Six days is six days. You are trying to strain at a gnat. But the rest of the Bible (the camel) testifies against you and cannot be broken. Please explain.
  14. How do you know what there world view was? They were probably a lot smarter than us. And why would God start them off with a lie? I study history! I read commentaries. I read about what the prevailing thoughts were at the time. I read about their culture and their understanding of the physical universe at the time. Why do you think they were a lot smarter than us? By what evidence? And God did not start them off with a lie. God started the bible off with a creation account that reinforces His Oneness, His separation from created things, His relationship with man, and His plans for mankind. That isn't a lie. what HIS-story do you read? The Holy Bible is the word of God. See, that is a "pat answer" that doesn't really address my question. Parts of the bible are literal, real, reliable history. Parts aren't. How does that address my question? Yes, the Holy Bible is the word of God. Does that infer we don't need to justify why we read it with a scientific lens? Nope! So let's try again hey? Why read Genesis through scientific goggles? Genesis is correct. Holy. Inspired. Word of God. It needs no correction. It isn't a lie. But it isn't to be read as prescriptive science and was delivered through man. We just need to read it for what it is, and not what we want it to be. That means acknowledging how our worldview differs from the original audience. How do you know how it is to be read. exodus 20:11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. Statement of fact by the Almighty.
  15. It says 6 days. They are the same as the days today. There is no mention of any change. Thank you for not engaging with the content of my post. He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.
  16. It is almost uncanny how the actions of some people who believe in a young earth mirror those that believed in a fixed earth. You are trying to strain at a gnat. But the rest of the Bible (the camel) testifies against you and cannot be broken. John 8:47 He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.
  22. How do you know what the original audience intent was. That is ridiculous. 23. Job 36:7 He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.
  24. I agree. I think it is a creation story designed to convey some spiritual truths. In that story the days are literal 24 hour days. It is stated as a detailed record. There is no part that even sounds like a story to convey spiritual truth. But it does show that you know that it does not match the Big Bang and long ages of evolution. It isn't scientific. Why are you comparing pre scientific writing with scientific theories? Do you compare poetry and legal contracts? It ain't a science textbook! It is right and inspired in all that it teaches, it is holy and precious. But it isn't teaching science, so I need not fear what science also has to say. It is the detailed account from God who did it. It that is not knowledge I do not know what is/.
  25. Job 36:7 He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.
