Well, I agree with with you nebula .but does this leave us with assumption that it wasn't in Gods plans or inaccurate coincident. Somebody might wonder was it necessary for this sanguinary of innocent blood to occur just as section of bible fulfilment (Mat 2:18) Tribulations is also another incident to come , that's why Jesus felt pity to the women who'll be breastfeeding as well as those who'll be pregnant . (Mat 24:19) This implies still innocent babies and infants will not escape death under whichever circumstances . Have everyone thought of a way to avoid such tragic or wonder why God of mercy should allow it . Unless we admit a slightest negligence in our bible studies.

Here is a controversial issues that during Jesus' birth , lives of innocent babies were lost through Herod's hands . One thing I don't know if they died as martyrs. Secondly whether the parents who were affected remained to bless Jesus or cursed him the entire of their life . Thirdly and most crucial, did Jesus die as compensation for the slayed babies or for our sin?

Very satisfied kwik !

I'm still in Jesus . When he died , his tomb were guarded my Roman authorities .was this just a formal routine to Roman empire especially when somebody was executed , or Jesus was very special for that case . Why do you think this people decided to guard his tomb ?

Why did Herod deadly fear baby Jesus?
Andrew Wabomba replied to Andrew Wabomba's topic in General Discussion
Precisely nice answer kwikphilly ! -
One thing I fail to understand is why was Herod deadly feared baby Jesus as a king . And if he was to become earthly king ,it would take long time by then Herod would be old enough to retire. Did Herod believed he would be everlasting king ?

These terms once always referred to an individual's freedom of religious belief, of religious speech, and of religious practice. The individual believer was the target of oppression by others. That is the meaning that we generally use on this web site. However, in recent years, the terms seem to be taking on a new meaning: the religious freedom and liberty of a believer to hate, oppress, denigrate, or reduce the human rights of other groups. Now it is the believer who is the oppressor and others who are the target. This new meaning is becoming increasingly common. It appears that this new meaning is begin driven by a number of factors: The increasing public acceptance of women's use of birth control/contraceptives The increasing public acceptance of sexual minorities including the LGBT community (Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, Transgender persons and transsexuals) The increasing percentage of NOTAs in North America: those who are NOT Affiliated with an organized faith group. Some are Agnostics, Atheists, etc. Others describe themselves as spiritual, but not religious.

The practice of witchcraft / voodoo / obeah is becoming increasingly widespread. It is prevalent in Africa, however it is gaining popularity in the West. Classified ads direct us to those who can help us win back lost love, make anyone fall in love with us, steal someone else’s wealth and prosperity, etc. Some of these are charlatans and fakes, but some really “deal” with the devil. The practice of divination is as old as the Old Testament, where witches and sorcerers obtained messages from demon spirits. So this is a real phenomenon. I have heard reports of persons sprinkling potions in someone else’s food to make them fall in love with them. Others try to bring curses on people using items of clothing. Witchcraft comes in many forms and is very real. So my question is does this kind traditional remote -controlled technology really affect Christians ?

The April issue of Everyday Gospel Magazine featured an article written by Dr. Marc LaMont Hill who touched on the subject of the epidemic of prosperity teaching in the church. I’d like to add my views to the discussion. I feel compelled to talk about this because of the overwhelming number of television preachers and evangelists who are preaching about prosperity. The preaching of the prosperity message in today’s church boils down to one thing: greed.

Most Christians would readily agree that in some way or another, physical healing is included as part of Jesus’ atonement. If it is not received in this life, definitely it will be in the next one. But the real question that causes division is, “Does the atonement of Jesus guarantee physical healing in this life?” When put this way, even the most diehard Pentecostal would admit to the contrary.

It has been customary for all, except for the occasional infant, to have their genital area and buttocks covered when in public. Females over a few years of age are normally expected to also wear coverings over their nipples. Decades ago, men were required to wear tops, even at the beach. Recently, thong bathing suits, which expose almost the entire buttock area, have changed our concept of acceptable clothing in many areas of North America. Some jurisdictions allow women to go topless. Naturists believe that if weather, location and laws permit, activities such as sports, swimming, hiking and relaxing in a social environment can be enjoyed without the necessity of wearing clothing. " Naturism is not the exploitation of nakedness, exhibitionism, a religion, or a cult...Naturists accept and admire the beauty of the human body as it is, regardless of age, gender or form." 1 Some people oppose social nudity (also called nudism and naturism) and would like to criminalize it even if it is confined to private naturist resorts. Some feel that nudity, when practiced within a family, is a form of child sexual abuse. Many people feel awkward when a woman breast-feeds her infant in public. Topless women can be arrested in most of North America, even though the practice is generally accepted on European beaches.

The Muslim al-Aksa Foundation and Cultural Heritage Organization blamed Israel for the collapse of an area near the Bab as Silsila on the western side of the al-Aksa Mosque on the Temple Mount. The organization accused Israel of "paving the way for demolishing the al-Aksa Mosque by building new settlements and digging dozens of tunnels," Turkey's Anadolu news agency reported. www.cbn.com/cbnnews/insideisrael/2013/August/Israel-Blamed-for-Collapse-on-Temple-Mount/

What I don't know is whether these sect of people did that through God's inspiration or their own invention .

I understand the chapter and verse divisions in the Bible are not part of the original text. When were these divisions made, and who madethem?

I enjoy using an iPad. It is, in my opinion, one of the most impressive devices yet invented. In one light- weight, travel-sized tablet the user has everything at his fingertips. That includes not only the typical social media apps that every user has on his smartphone, but also countless tools that have characterized the laptop or even the home television. And yet I am finding that cutting-edge, 21st- century technology is subtly but quickly changing... thegospelcoalition.org/mobile/article/tgc/dear-pastor-bring-your-bible-to-church

Just before her tenure ended as secretary of state, Hillary Rodham Clinton fainted in her home and suffered a concussion. Unlike in 2009, when she fractured her elbow and returned to work days later, Clinton remained in the hospital for weeks. Her slow recovery prompted media to wonder about her work life. Hailed as the most widely traveled secretary of state, Clinton represents for many people the strength of female ambition. After her release from the hospital, The New York Times crooned over her "herculean work habits" and "indomitable stamina and work ethic." In spite of the adverse effects that her grueling schedule was imposing on her health, and the consensus among her advisers that she needed rest, Clinton nevertheless enjoyed "enduring status as a role model." Such effusive praise for workaholism? It should have shocked me less. In a meritocracy such as the modern West, the biggest piece of the pie is supposedly reserved for the hardest working. Erin Callan, the former CFO of Lehman Brothers, credited her professional success to her indefatigable work ethic. Only after her divorce and resignation in 2008 could she admit the underbelly of that ethic. In a recent New York Times piece, "Is There Life After Work?" she wrote, "[W]hen I left my job, it devastated me. . . . I did not know how to value who I was versus what I did. What I did was who I was." Despite the potential catastrophes of overwork, many of today's professional women are tempted to it. Is this because we're grossly underrepresented in high-level positions in the public and private sectors? Because we are still earning less than our male counterparts? Because successful women like Sheryl Sandberg, COO of Facebook, keep telling us to mind the "ambition gap"? Or, do we overwork simply because it's so easy to do, given that our office follows us around via a laptop and cell phone?

A child in North Korea explains to her teacher that she did well on a test "by God's grace." Later, she arrives home to find her parents have disappeared. Such stories in a new Vacation Bible School curriculum from persecution ministry Voice of the Martyrs have some children's spirituality experts questioning whether it encourages children's faith or burdens them with inappropriate information. Launched last year, the ministry's Kids of Courage curriculum "came about as a result of churches' desire and [our] desire to tell the story of persecuted Christians in an age- appropriate way," said media director Todd Nettleton. Church for the Harvest in Alexandria, two hours northwest of Minneapolis, used the curriculum last summer. Children's director Katy Kiger is a former missionary to South Africa and liked that Kids of Courage includes stories from China, Egypt, India, Nigeria, and North Korea. For example, stories from Nigeria talk about Muslims converting to Christianity as well as terrorists attacking churches. Many of the children in Kiger's program attend public schools where they face a milder form of antagonism. Still, she said, "It was awesome to hear how kids talk about their own struggles." "The kids here need to know what is up in the world today," said Jalil Dawood, pastor of the Arab Church of Dallas, whose members and their families have faced death and severe persecution in their home countries. His church hasn't used the program, but Dawood says it is important for American children to learn about the challenges of being a Christian in other parts of the world. It is important for children to confront difficult or challenging topics, says Scottie May, professor of Christian spirituality at Wheaton College and co- author of Listening to Children on the Spiritual Journey . However, she said, "I have concerns about materials that might introduce pain, torture, and death to a young child without a context for them." Ginny Olson, director of youth ministry for the Covenant Church's Northwest Conference, agrees. She said, "There is no way a teacher can be attuned to the differing levels of sensitivity of a group of children. Little kids need to experience scary stories in the presence of a parent who can protect them." Still, telling stories of God's presence with his people who suffer on his behalf has a long history. "Jewish children heard the stories of Daniel and Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego," said Holly Allen, professor of Christian ministries at John Brown University and author of Nurturing Children's Spirituality . Stories of suffering in the mission field have been told to children in recent centuries. "Six- or seven-year-olds can hear and process these stories," Allen said. "We have mis-represented God's work in the world when we avoid telling stories where God does not save. The deeper, more foundational truth must be told: God will not abandon us, even in our death."

Is it Biblical to Worship the Holy Spirit?
Andrew Wabomba replied to BlessedByTheBest's topic in General Discussion
I'll advise to worship God through spirit media and not the other way round . -
More specifically, God has given life to each of us to do his work on Earth. Our bodies belong to God, not to ourselves. So, it is up to Him to decide when our work on Earth is finished, not up to us: Haven't you yet learned that your body is the home of the Holy Spirit God gave you, and that he lives within you? Your own body does not belong to you. For God has bought you with a great price. So use every part of your body to give glory back to God because he owns it. (TLB, 1st Corinthians 6:19-20)

Was marriage only to favor men's problems ?
Andrew Wabomba replied to Andrew Wabomba's topic in General Discussion
Well, Paul was addressing the problems that was besides marriage .What I don't know is whether he was aware of sexual related problems which would arise within marriage . Such as sexual dissatisfaction or nyphomania ,barreness or impotence . -
According to 1 Cor 7:9 it seemed it was only men who were addressing their problems . Does it really mean that marriage was only provision to satisfy men's needs ? Was such application suitable in todays' life ? Suppose women had their grievances and ask Poul " suppose I'm married and I'm not sexuality satisfied " Do you think Poul would give them another alternative ?

Scientific research for supernatural?
Andrew Wabomba replied to Diatheosis's topic in General Discussion
Is it possible that science be used to demonstrate that prayer actually works? No. It cannot. Here's why. Science is the process of learning about the universe and how it behaves. The scientific method deals with observation, developing a hypothesis, testing the hypothesis through experimentation, and then developing a workable theory to explain behavior. So, we have to ask how science could be used to demonstrate whether not prayer works. Do they want repeatable experiments and regular quantifiable data so that the efficacy of prayer can be tested and measured? That would be a problem. If prayer "A" resulted in effect "B," then we would see a correspondence of prayer and result -- something the atheist could see and verify. But if this were the case, such a phenomena would not be a demonstration that God exists. Instead, it would be a demonstration that uttering certain words in certain patterns brings certain results. This would imply that a new property of the universe has been discovered, and that by saying certain words certain results occur. Essentially this would amount to sorcery and would not demonstrate that God exists. -
Are we sure He'll not got us unaware ?
Andrew Wabomba replied to Andrew Wabomba's topic in General Discussion
Well, one thing I'm not clear with is , if this generation can make better from Jesus's time ,when God ordained people such as high priests and law keepers didn't recognise Jesus as the Lord.He came to his own but his own did not received him. (John 1:11) Can we have assurance that "his own" will not let him down for the second time ?
