There was  a recent news report, an american journalist had just covered 4 beheadings in one day, and commented how the crowd all came around to watch, and seemed to take pleasure in it, while he felt sickened, but felt the duty to risk his life (if he had tried to defend) and report on it.

I think if we are not careful, we could all fall into the mob mentality. Look at the Jews and Christ!

Literal. Also remember that the Lord said He will shorten those days, otherwise, no flesh would survive.

I had heard/read that the root of  'confirm' also means to 'enforce' - therefore it possibly could be that it is 'enforcing an already existing convenant' - such as the Oslo accords or pre 1967 borders.
