French too was a colonial language forced on smaller cultures.

I don't know that it is the 'language of God' ,but it was the language of Colonialism .The language
of the largest imperialist power since Rome ,and even more so . I do not agree with you that the
English were the people who spread God's word more than any other .I believe it was the Roman Church
who did that,as, until it went of the rails a bit,spread the 'word' of God for it's own sake,not
for power,and greed as did the English establishment,whose purpose ws not at all the souls of humanit
y but pure secular power. English is not popular among the peoples of the world,but is tolerated
for business,for capitalism.

One of the most important steps for me was to be able to talk about Jesus whom I wanted o get to know better by discussing how He revealed Himself in the bible. Don't remember doing much of that in catholic school,where going to mass was demanded of us,but although we had a vague idea it was very vague and we never learned or discussed Jesus of the bible. Instead we learned to follow the rules,and what were very pleasant rituals. When I wanted to know about my Saviour,it needed an american pastor's wife to guide to through the bible,learning and understanding what we needed to be and do as christians.
After that she showed me how to pray ;to be natural,and to open up to Jesus,to not hold back,and not to be afraid to be awkward at first, as all He wants is a Relationship with Him,then He will take over and has never ever let me down ,although as a human it takes some time adapt to His way ,which is not ours.As time goes on it gets easier,but there have been many 'dry phases',and even angry ones,I'm afraid .

You know the song "one day at a time dear Jesus"......... I feel that if we look at ourselves and change just one tiny thing about how we look at life etc
Kwik is correct,we can only change ourselves,and allow ourselves to be happy even if others do not behave the way we want them too. We should also ty to stop making excuses for ourselves because things were bad in the past Just one tiny change ,letting go of hate ,fear ,anger etc can help .An of course prayer to our dear saviour and patience while God tends to your prayer.

The big démos in France worked in so far as there will be no surrogate mothers and I need to look up it' name ,but its been banned too. Will return with name .
As for books in schools,there was an outcry over book about homosexuality etc. for infants which was withdrawn Under pressure from parents involved in the démos .People who had no contact before set up networks to resist this kind of thing and will continue to do so .
My prayer for this man who needs to be supported actively too.

The Bible doesn't say that God chooses who will or will not be saved.Free will vs Predestination
1. Does scripture contradict itself by saying we have free will to salvation, yet does God choose who shall be saved. 2. If God chooses his people, and if man is spiritually corrupt because of sin, then WHY also write scriptures of repentance. 3. Are these scriptures of repentance speaking for ALL people or the one's he predestined. 4. Since Romans 1:20 already says God is in creation and they are without excuse then why does the Christian need to spread the gospel. 5. Couldn't Christians just avoid all that persecution by trusting in Romans 1:20 and predestination. 6. Why would a loving God predestine a few people to heaven and the rest to hell. 7. Isn't predestination the opposite of free will. 8. Is it safe to say we cannot know the mind of God and just lean on faith alone. 9. The christian asks "if predestination is truth then why me, why have I been chosen??" Blessings, David. Let us pray for discernment.

The biblcial doctrine of predestination pertains to what God has predestined believers to become AFTER they are saved; it doesn't say that God predestines some to be saved and others to be lost.
Romans 9 is not about salvation. It focuses on the sovereignty of God in tersm of God's sovereign choice to use people for a particular purpose. Paul, in Romans 9 is defending God's justness in causing a partial blindness to come upon the Jews so that Jesus would be rejected and the promise of salvation could be fulfilled. Paul uses the example of Pharoah through whom God used to show His power.
God did not create Pharoah simply to destroy him. God does not create people to send them to hell. There are incompetent and sloppy theologians who take that heretical view of God. But the notion that God creates some people to send to hell violates the biblical revelation of God's nature and character.
Predistination in the NT is always about service not salvation. The Bible does not take the extremist position that every event is willed by God. There are hyper sovereignty people who think that every action, good or bad, sinful or righteous, is willed by God, but that is an unbalanced and extreme view of God that the Bible doesn't support. IT is not rooted in the Bible at all.
The free will vs. sovereignty debate often gets very contentious because it asking the wrong question from the outset and this leads to confusion and endless debate. The question is usually about whether or not God gives us the freewill to choose to believe the Gospel. But that is the wrong question. The correct question is, "what is the relationship of my choices in life, good or bad, to the sovereign will of God over my and direction it is headed?
the same as most christians. I would like to know from the point of view of somone who is exclusively bible based in their beliefs,and ignores other manifestaions of God's Creative will in history and in science ad even parts of the bible,which are ignored or denied ?

When I Google the meaning of freedom I get the following.
Freedom
the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint.
For almost all my life I've thought that freedom was being able to say and do what I wanted when I wanted and how I wanted without restriction or consequence. But the more I read the word of God, the more I question what is real freedom. Paul would say he was the slave to Christ yet he would also say ( imho ) that he was free in Christ. Christ come that we might be set free from the bonds of sin. To set the prisoner free.
What is freedom?
I live in America.... "The land of the free". Where increasingly it seems that to more and more being free means they can do whatever they like and everyone must not condemn. The more the country moves in this direction the further I get driven from it.

I hope my rambles make sense to someone. I hope the Lord places it on someone's heart to respond that has a much deeper understanding of his word than I do. There are so many on this site with such a understanding of his word and a passion to love the Lord, with all there heart, mind and strength... While not wanting any to be lead into lies and deception. So I come to you after much prayer and seeking of his truth to ask,
What is real freedom to A child of God? What does freedom mean?

Years ago I was given a vision,I am sure it was from God . I saw how All of creation works as a Whole finely tuned Unity . Everything in it's place,massive and wondrous ,but working together in harmious cycles of time ,where everything came to fruition,and would begin again .Humanity was completely and pefectly in tune with this wondrous creation;was never destructive,instncively knowing what to do when as a rose knows knows how to become a rose we knew how to be pefectly in tune with God's world .As each new project came to fruition,we would automatically refer to Him to be guided to our next stage of being ,our next creative movement,then something came into this Total Harmony:an individualistic narcissistic being who wanted Freedom from any restriction at all.The only restriction being to refer to God as ultimate decider of creation as it expanded,and to work in love and harmony with God's creation. A rupture occured,and we know who created it.
As we know all the planets work together in harmony and in cycles . If one of them moves more than a tiny amount it sends all of astrononical movement into total chaos .Just in the same way that planets ,and universes are finely tuned,so are we humans in creation,and our Relationship to one another is not as individuals so much as communities.verthing you do or don't is recorded and in time has conséquences,with come to pass sooner or later.so we never get away with anything really. Our good deeds and our bad will be paid for n some way or other ;maybe hundreds of years later,until God brings it too a close in order to begin His New Creation .If we repent through Jesus we will not pay for those sins ,but be trusted to cooperate with God,as He begins the next phase of His ongoing work .

Jesus said were to keep forgiving others,and to love one another,not to be judging them . You do not need to listen to people here,because what you have done is only between you and a loving God no matter what they say who would chastise you .
I have an American friend who is a graduate from bible college in the US and she said she is still recovering from the twisted hateful image of Jesus that was forced on her and other students by so called christians. This is a much greater sin to make people afraid to approach God for help,too afraid to have a real Relationship with Him where you can ask for and will get all the help you need.

Did you or didn't you? Yes or No? You need to take ownership of things you say, especially to God.I think I said I would stop
Do you realise how harsh you sound ? God is loving .She did not lie to God,she meant it at the time,and will give her more chances,even if you would'nt .

Praying for you Freemont D., that Jesus will set you free from obsessive thoughts . The best way to be free of these is to replace them with others. Happy images of a loving and Holy God . Spend time reading books about God and ty to read literature which was written by believers .i made a vow to the holy spirit i would not think about movies.... i am afraid if i think about movies for 2 minutes and get caught i'll go to hell for lying to the spirit which is a mortal sin i have had dreams and visions which tell me this every night i have nightmares that i am throne into hell for thinking about movies everytime i pass a church i get a sense of dread i don't even want to think about movies it just freaks me out it takes over my every thought day and night. is that true?
and twice i have thought about movies and i have seen the face of demons at thesame time
i have schizophrenia and OCD too
I think we need all of us to read classics which are both pleasurable and soul enhancing .
Can anyone tell me if there is a thread on literature wich inspires,and teaches ?

Unlike some here I do not believe it is enough to say that you belief etc . I do think you have to make an effort to love your neighbour,and to pray regularly to keep alive your relationship with God. You have to learn to love Him, in bowing to His authority , in learning His Word.
devil believes in God too,but hates Him ;we Christians will be expected to make an effort,even if wecannot get there without being saved by Grace. Indifference,and arrogance can keep us from Grace,while humility and caring are virtues.

I understand it is biblical to honour ones parents. How does one do so when a parent is verbally, physically and or mentally abusive, extremely ungodly, unpredictable, unloving, uncaring and full of bitterness and hate?
As a parent now myself I feel it is sadly necessary to keep myself and my children away from their grandmother as she is a terrible influence and occasionally it isnt even safe to be around her due to alcoholism. All of her children have tried everything under the sun to help and encourage her but it on gets worse every year. Even phone calls are painstakingly longwinded and simply an hour and a half of listening to negativity, gossip, bitterness, swearing, paranoia and anger.
How do you honour this kind of parent?
You are honouring the parent if you keep your side of the 'bargain',that is you are not abusive ,neglectful and so on,but when you are abused you calmly say that it hurts ,it is destructive,and prevents you from being able to do your duty to her ,or him,and can not continue .It is very important not to get angry,but you can be distant.

I am 61. Today I drove about 100 miles, mostly in four wheel drive. I walked about 4 miles in searing heat and humidity. Came back to camp, wrote a report, ate and showered and then got on to Worthy before reading for awhile. i feel like I could do it all again and tomorrow I will. It is so humid the water is running down the walls. No aircon or fan...No it is not because they know so much.It is because from birth our brain cells start to die.By the mid 60's you are in real trouble.

It is indeed,as I am more or less the same age,but it is due entirely to the One Above ,as I have bad habits,which affects my health,and by my self would probably eatand drink my way into the grave. I have become more disciplined with effort although it has taken years ,and I am in better shape than when I was 40

I know what happens ,I have been there.It is a very aggressive culture,very egoist and demanding .Many people move to avoid living in these gettoes. I am not living in the UK now,and am glad not to be. I taught children from many backgrounds,and although I would not lump all people born Under islam together,it is indeed a very backward tribal culture,and causes chaos around where it is common. Many districts become unliveable in because of the bad habits of dumping etc. The Indian people were notably civilised in comparison.

she needs someone to be able to just set down and talk to. You can help her more by listening than talking... there is also a danger of involving yourself in a whole heap of problems..... so unless you're willing to be involved and I would think your immediate family also let it alone.
It's almost impossible to help her by talking for a couple of minutes....... what she needs is prayer and a friend....... actually lots of friends.
She can find both in a good Nazarene Church.... I can't speak for other places. They may exist, but that's where the Spirit sent my family.
The lady is in real spiritual trouble. I wish I could help more than prayer.
We should not be turning people away if we can help them, just by listening .Perhaps a little present for her ,not the baby . But it is better to go with others,even if it is just one who she relates to.If she does commit the terrible act and as christians we have done nothing at all, we are ignoring Jesus command to never turn down someone who asks for help. Just find one or two others to help youand show that you care. The worst will be over in time.You don't have to be there long ,just perhaps a few weeks as the crisis passes.

Sister, that is one of the wake up calls God sent to me when I backslid. If people have to ask me if I am a Christian, something is wrong.I fear that people will look at my life and be turned away from God/Christianity. I'm working on it...but sometimes I find myself blending in with the world.
The only "work" that it takes is repenting, to read the Bible and pray daily, and to attend church regularly. Ususally our interests change when we are in His word, communing with Him, and surrounding ourselves with more mature Christians. We start allowing Him to live in us to love others and to forgive.
We don't work at bearing good fruit. It is produced naturally when we are connected to the Vine. The branch does not grunt and groan to produce a grape. It just drinks in the sun, the water, CO2 and the nutrients provided by the vine. It is God Who gives the growth.
I can't say that I have much fear as a Christian. I do fear for others, for the heartache that is in store for them should they continue to make ungodly choices.
Hallelujah . I love the vine metaphor . I love it because I use the vine,or the grape seed,and stages it goes through in growth,as we must do to,and I have a few here in my garden
a bit like me,rather 'overgrown'.

Despite my strong belief in God and our Savior ... there is a small iota of a percentage within me that fears that all of this is all ... I don't want to say "a joke" or "fake", but that Christianity really did start as a way to control the people and it took off on its own. But then again, there is so much historical and archeological evidence that events and people of the Bible existed. That's what I fear ... that when we die .. there really isn't a God or heaven. And I hate that fear so much.
Well I must admit many people have fears like that sometime or other .Some people need to know more with their hearts (Holy Spirit),and others need to know more with their logical brain,material evidence ,like Thomas . One of the reasons there are so many non believers among rational ,logical types is that in the past,Christians did not teach logically,and it is in part their fault because although Jesus would have preferred him to believe without 'seeing',He did not demand it,He gave Thomas a chance to 'see' the evidence.
Science is God's bigger evidence,as well as other stuff like archaeological evidence,and more . However in the end it is often a personal experience with God which allows total faith,when He delivers us from some terrible situation,and we have no doubts that He is ther when we call on Him .

I fear something similar. I fear that Satan may try to make my life a living Hell in order to test my faith. Life isn't going so great for me at the moment as it is.

recent laws in society.
It creates a 'dark evil cloud' around us ,but remember it is only a matter of time
till God relieves us of our pain.
Patience has probably been the hardest test for me; it goes with Faith,and Hope ,and has to be cultivated .As someone a bit long in the tooth,who has experienced despair among other things,He always comes through for me ,and He will for you.
Do not expect too much as we tend to do in the west.We are being tested for endurance and faith .Hard very hard ,but it makes us grow into God's children.

I think that the more perceptive among the chinese people,have noted that the greatest culture in history
has come from a christian/ judeo basis,and logically they want to know why that is so. Why would they not be included among the gentiles who would e converted when the time came ? They are after all created by the same God,as created us westerners. They were simply not ready to recieve the knowledge of Him,as were the Jewish people,whose culture was more developed at that time and capable of hearing God's voice.
The chinese history and culture has been well ordered for a long time,ordered enough and wise enough to begin to move forward to be converted to a love of Jesus,and what He stands for.

Since I am much more worried about the U.K. and the U.S. activities on the world scene than Russia,the détails are less interesting ,than the fact that Putin has said NO to the corruption of russian children by so called progressist values like same sex marriage.What is frightening is that they would actually go to war for such things,as they do not care at all about Ukrainian people,and so forth,but they WILL force you to accept their evil values ,or else.
One tiny light here, is that the atheist left governing local mairies for 30 years in France,in in trouble,as itlooks as though Paris,and most of local councils have rejected Hollande and his progressist policies. However must wait till next sunday evening for the second vote,to confirm.

I totally disagree with you,but then I am constantly mentally active,and always will be . Yes there are personality types ,lacking curiosity,courage etc., whose brains die when they are quite young ,but in France where I am,people are involved in life more than in the States until they are very old . I generalise of course . It is a gift of of God ,the Holy Spirit. The US of A has done a huge amount of harm to our culture,by encouraging fast,shallow culture, by'adoring' youth,and so on,but wisdom is appraciated here ,and makes for a better society overallNo it is not because they know so much.It is because from birth our brain cells start to die.By the mid 60's you are in real trouble.

Have you heard the song ,I can't remember the title ,but there is a phrase that came to me when I was going through the 'darkest time',it is this . "And the darkest hour is just before dawn" Perhaps you can find it,or I may try myself.
I remember another time ,when I was recuperating from a serious illness,being rather weak I took little walks to help me get stronger .A couple of times I had to find somewhere to sit,or get somone to come for me. This day I walked quite a distance away from busy Streets,and without thinking I had gone too far,and could see no one . I had no phone,and I felt very very tired,and in a panic ,because I was lost. I said a liitle prayer,which prompted me to look behind a clump of bushes,and on the other side I could see the road home,and a taxi rank in the distance.
You must not do anything. You are being 'formed', to become perfect ,and it can be very painful not
to want to end it ,but perhaps you are so near ,while feeling so far.
Do you read books by people like CS Lewis,who is very Wise and heplful,and an excellent writer?
