The Guardian, a staunchly secular newspaper in the UK said this a few days ago on its headline, if anyone can find the clip on the internet i would be impressed: www.guardian.co.uk it might be under past papers, but i read it hard copy
a picture of the Tsunami wreckage and a caption "how can organized religion explain this?"
I laughed. the answer is "we can explain, but you wont listen anyway," and if we as christians did explain that "god didnt do it," they (the guardian) still wouldnt listen.
It really does annoy me slightly that the world (the secular non beleiving Guardian goggling world) is SOOO quick to shake their fist at religion (christianity in particular, in the guardian's case) and consequently, GOD, and blurt out the usual "why does god let bad things happen, if he loved us, then why did the Tsunami happen?" they dont want an answer. Well, quite frankly, did god let, um, er, Normandy beach landings happen? Did god save indonesia from the clutches of Japanese Colonial ambition? That God! hes always defeating corrupt evil empires! Expect him to do that kind of thing, the point is these people (people like the guardian headline writer) are ready to accept ANything good that happens, but never anything bad. To quickly disgard what they want, like a child at christmas, their gratfulness never lasts long, and they make more fuss over the present they hated rather than the one they loved.
Why does god let soo many bad things happen?
(Flip the coin you idiot . . .)
Why does god let soo many, GOOD things happen?
