I'm not angry at god, just as I'm not angry at Darth Vader or the Joker. Neither exist so I'm not angry at them. You say atheists are proof god exists. By your logic, that would mean that Christians are proof that the flying spaghetti monster exists.

Kiwikphilly Have you read Greek Mythology? You probably have but let's just say you haven't for the context of this discussion. There is no proof that Zeus exists (Just like any god), but millions of people believed in him for a time. Do you approach greek mythology with an open mind? I imagine not as you already believe in the christian god. That's just how us atheists feel toward all religion. If evidence comes forward that Zeus, Thor, Wotan, Ra, Braman, Allah or Jesus exist, then we shall change our minds, but there is simply not any evidence that any of them exists. It's not up to me to prove something does not exist, it's up to you to prove he does. As if you lot don't need proof, then that justifies anything. Until proof of something comes along, it's logical to assume it does not. The main proof that god does not exist is that there is no proof to say he does. Thank you for talking to your imaginary friend about me, I really appreciate the gesture. Have a nice day

Reply to Argosy If you say enough evidence has been presented then where is it? Show me some. It is actually you denying the evidence that points away from god. Atheism is a lack of faith, we do not have faith in anything. There is plenty of evidence and we know for a fact about how antimatter and matter came to be, I suggest you look it up! It is not impossible to have the 20 extreme conditions and 20 amino acids. It is very improbable, yes but because the universe is so large, it would be almost impossible for it not to happen somewhere along the line. I do not hope god does not exist, I would very much like it for a god to exist, the problem is that we have explained everything that god is said to have done and all evidence points away from a supernatural creator.

You can test evolution. Fossils, sedimentary rock just to name a few. Did you also just admit that there is no evidence for god
-
So god reveals himself only to the people stupid enough to believe the lies his religion has spread. In this age, faith needs to be wiped out. In my country, more young people are seeing reason and becoming atheist

Please give me proper evidence rather than scripture. That proves nothing

What Some Atheists Really Believe....
Goldenshark123 replied to OldSchool2's topic in Science and Faith
Evolution is not an alternative, it is fact -
Reply to Kan One of the main evidences against god is that you cannot test it. If something is untestable then it is assumed wrong until evidence to support it comes forward. Please give me some.

Reply to Teditis There's plenty of evidence, go to the museum and look at it

Reply to Argosy Please give me an argument I can't debunk. Please, I welcome any arguments. Please tell me in what way am I trolling this site, I am discussing with you on reasonable terms

Reply to enoob57 I was not born into atheism. I grew up with religious and non religious people around me. When I became interested in how the world worked ect, I read in to all the alternatives. I read the Bible, parts of the Quran and multiple Bhuddist, Hindu, Jedi and Pagan texts. And then I read a few science books. Origin of Species, the God delusion, The blind watchmaker, the selfish gene, pale blue dot, death by black hole, Principia, a brief history of time ect. I then came to the conclusion that religion had no arguments to contend with reason and science.

Reply to post If I were god, I would not use prophets. I would simply appear every few years or so to prove my existance, or intervene in world affairs to show that I care ect. If I did have to use prophets I would get them to write proof of things I have done and show that only I could do them and get multiple forms of evidence. We are privilidged to be able to die, there were billions of people who would not even have the opportunity to live or die. Be grateful that stars exploded to that you could be here today.

Reply to Fresnojoe 1) I can see. I wear glasses for long distance but I do have vision. To declare that someone you have never met cannot see is rather ignorant. If you were talking about intellectual seeing, then it is you whom is blind 2) The reason I am an atheist is that I have reasoned with sense and logic ect, it is clearly you who has not

Reply to Base12 Please explain the pictures you have posted

Reply to Vendtre I know that consciousness has evolved as the original single celled organisms that we evolved from had awareness but not consciousness, but animals like humans and monkeys have consciousness. And as evolution has been proven as the way new limbs or indeed consciousness come about, I know that consciousness evolved over millions of years

Reply to 1to3 (Part 1) As your reply was so long I will answer in multiple parts. I do not see intelligent design around me, in fact I can't believe the special stories that have been made up about our relationship to the Universe at large. Look at what's out there, it isn't in proportion. But I do not see a blank canvas either. I see a beautiful world with beautiful life that has evolved over millions of years. But 99% of the known universe can not support lofe as we know it, so chances are that a world in a goldilocks zone with the right conditions for life will come along every once in a while. I know that the molecules in my body are traceble to a phenomenon in the cosmos. I also know that consciousnes has evolved over millions of years from single celled organisms right up to me. That makes me feel privilidged that I was lucky enough to be born, as only a tiny fraction of people who could be born are. No god makes far more sense.

Reply to enoob57 As I stated before, I have read the bible, which is the main reason why I am an atheist

Reply to Rick Parker As a matter of fact, I have read the KJ bible and studied many aspects of it, along with religious history ect. As I mentioned before, religion is a very interesting subject, and should not be treated with the taboo that is currently has. I hope for a world where beliefs can be debated openly without causing offence. More importantly I hope for a world where there is no religion. Also, what evidence do you have that a certian religious group were chosen by god for specific jobs. From the same perspective, I am the holy messanger of the flying spaghetti monster because I have held off asthma's attempts to eliminate me. It is also obvious that you can't find any decent arguments without quoting a book that has not been proven correct. I am after actual evidence not from a fictitious book that god exists. For example you could say that the world is too beautiful to be chance (I would however refute that with evolution). Predictive prophecy is also random chance(and as far as I know none is evident in the Bible). It just so happended that Nostradamus (to use an example) managed to predict some future events reasonably well, but what you don't hear about is all the other 99% of prophets that failed miserably. Please provide some proper evidence

Reply to hmbld It is blatantly obvious that the bible was written by man, as evident by the fact that it is extremely badly written.
-
Reply to Ezra If I were to use your logic, the Harry Potter books are sufficent evidence that wizards and flying broomsticks exist. Also, I will always spell god with a small g as all gods are false.
-
Hi Please below write any evidnce that god exists

Reply to enoob57 Truth has been going on for billions of years, and will continue to go on for an untold amount of time. We know evolution is true because we have tested it.
-
Reply to Argosy What you just said is complete nonsense, and the reason you don't think evolution is true is that you don't understand it properly. The difference is that I understand the creation argument, but see that it is illogical and complete nonsense. Evolution us 100% true. So please provide me some evidence that god exists.

Reply to Teditis I was not meaning that fish survive out of water without the needed adaptations, rather that fish evolved to that they could walk, breathe oxygen ect. Where did the transitional species go? They evolved Evolution makes perfect sense, and it is creationism that has no evidence. Evolution does not make sense to you because you clearly don't understand it. As I said before, religion is just an alternative for thise who don't understand science
-
reply to enoob57 You are clearly not informed as you don't think an empirical fact is true, which only points to ignorance. You call facts nonsense too, which is ironic
