  1. I understand, and agree with, where you're coming from, Joe. I have two boys (almost 13 & 15). They are the coolest guys in the world. Believe me, I know how blessed I am to have them. I used that money for them. I bought them new mattresses, some other stuff they needed and put the rest in their savings account. I actually do the same with the child support money (that is, when I actually receive some). I know that some people say that it should go to the support of the child...like to pay bills. I'm totally fine with that and understand it. I just choose to use what I need to use for them directly, then put the rest into their savings. I figure it will help them more later than it would if I used it for bills or something. Did that make sense? I think I'm kinda groggy today. Denise
  2. Trying to jump start my heart again....thank you. That really was worth the scare, though. See, my 15 year old has been jumping out from behind things and scaring me for years. Don't get me wrong, he's a great kid and usually tries to be this "protective son," but for some odd reason, he thinks this is funny. Oh......the jump, the look.....(the satisfaction!)... Call it a teaching moment. He finally understands how creepy that is. I don't think he'll be jumping out at me anytime soon.
  3. Well, I certainly didn't know what it was going to be about. I just caught a brief minute of the commercial. Figures it's something like that. Everyone seems to be getting involved with "the dead" these days. You're right, it is satanic. Denise
  4. Just for everyone's info......They are detailing some of the "healing guys" on Primetime tonight (Thursday, Feb. 10th). I don't know which way they're going with it and I didn't really catch if they're bringing the "Name it Claim it" guys on there, but I might try and check it out. Hank Haanegraff did a pretty interesting series on those guys years ago. He actually also wrote a book called "Counterfeit Revival." I realize he's taken some hits over the years, but the book is excellent. Denise
  5. I know someone who literally took a Drive-thru sign. Put it on his bedroom door. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> My best friend and I took a Cattle Xing sign and hung it in the women's dorm at college. Yea....don't bother asking. We were young. Denise
  6. 69 degrees.....? Oh yea.....I feel for ya man. Denise <-----thinking about turning on the fireplace.
  7. Buried in dirt in a truck. Uh....no thanks. See, it's always good to get the opinion of someone who knows what they're talking about. I think I just lost the temptation. Denise
  8. Yes. Those things. Just seems like it would be a lot of fun to go speeding up the hill at 70mph. Hey...what's on the other side? Denise
  9. You crack me up! I'll have that picture in my mind all day.
  10. Thank you, Jesus, that we are no longer a slave to our fallen state. You know, whysoblind, sometimes it does stop with admiration. It is very possible. Denise
  11. I dunno..... I've never heard of such a thing. I certainly haven't read that in the Bible. I know it's a preference of some religions. Hey, I was thinking about Steve's post. I don't remember if you mentioned it, Steve, but how does your wife feel about you looking at the magazines? I know you said she sometimes points out a pretty girl, so I can't imagine her having a problem with it. I don't know. I just can't make myself have a problem with those magazines. Probably because I've read them for years and I have a different perspective about them. I KNOW what you're reading them for. When I look at them, I look at the guys and the girls (CC, don't even go there ). I like to see what they've accomplished and what they've got to say about it. I don't want to sound like some cliche geek, but (I'm gonna sound like one anyway) it's an artform. Years ago, I used to have a picture of Rachel McLish on my fridge. Just for motivation. I don't know how to describe it, other than it's not the typical reason someone would look at a magazine with nice looking people in it. It's like, "Wow, look how far they've gotten." Or in the case of a lot of guys I've been around, "Duuude! Look at the pecs on that dude! Man, he's a monster!" (Sorry Steve, that is definitely NOT all the guys!) I'm sure there are guys and girls alike that look at the pics with different thoughts in their minds. I guess that would be up to the individual to be able to judge their own heart - or ask God to. Denise
  12. I was wondering what the heck was so funny. I figured I missed SOMETHING when I posted. I don't know why I assumed that. Please accept my apologies...... Denise <---- completely embarrassed at this point.
  13. Ovedya, Generally, the women you see that have developed male attributes (hardness in the facial area, etc..), have taken some sort of steroids. I definitely wouldn't worry about developing those yourself. I've loved weight lifting for a long time. I can't count how many women have told me (I used to train) that they fear looking like the women in the magazines. They didn't want to get "that big." Looking like the (bodybuilding) women in the magazines takes a long time and a lot of dedication. You have every opportunity along the way to slow down or speed up the building process. Just didn't want you to worry about looking like a guy. Denise
  14. I was going to respond to this, but it seems Dad Ernie has said just about exactly what I was going to say. So.......what he said.
  15. Christian Counselor,Feb 8 2005, 04:35 PM] I'm quite sure Big Steve wasn't saying he found the men attractive in that way. At least that's not the way I took what he was saying - at all. What exactly are you saying here? The women in Muscle Fitness and the rest of the magazines are in women's bathing suits - skimpy though they may be - they are womens. Are you trying to say that women shouldn't wear jeans or anything else a man would wear? Just trying to clarify. Denise
  16. JLW001, I think I understand where you're coming from on most of your posts, but you're arguing against your beliefs in the above statement. Or at least, what I'm thinking you're trying to express in your posts. Romans 9:21-22: Or does not the potter have a right over the clay, to make from the same lump one vessell for honorable use and another for common use? What if God, although willing to demonstrate His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction? Just out of curiousity, what version of the Bible are you using? I'm seriously not being a smart aleck. I just want to know. Careful here. Pharaoh's heart wasn't actively hardened by God. He didn't need to. All God had to do was leave Pharaoh alone. A heart can pursue a sin-nature on it's own without any help whatsoever.
  17. Wow. I'm just about speechless. Just about. Have you ever read Jeremiah 17:9? It's telling us that we CAN'T trust our feelings because they are constantly changing. They don't stay constant - like the truth. You believe what YOU judge to be true? Well, what if someone else believes something else to be true? What if you believe contradictory messages? Then what? Who is right? Whoever believes the strongest? Truth exists whether you or anyone else believes it or not - whether you like it or not. We have to have a basis to which we can judge WHAT is true. God is not the author of confusion. Acts 17:11 - Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so. No where in there does it say to believe only what you, yourself judge to be true. As for your other statement....you have no need for God to return someday? Yikes man, that's pretty arrogent. I just don't seem to have the words.....
  18. So, lemme guess.....when you're sick or experiencing trials in your life, you're just not being faithful enough, right?
