What does that mean exactly? How could the death of Jesus help me get to His Kingdom and Eternal Life? What does the death of Christ save me from?
Why do I need to believe in Jesus at all.
May I ask you
Do you think that people who commit moral crimes should get punished? yes or no
Have you ever done wrong things? yes or no
There is only one correct answer to both questions.
Ok we have just established that we both agree that bad people ought to be punished
and we have agreed that we both have done those bad things.
Ok this is not looking like a good picture for us am I right?
So we are under judgement and
we both know we are guilty
but just before the judge condemns the two of us in the dock he pauses
We both know we are guilty and we both know we deserve what we are going to get.
Then he asks us are we interested in a pardon?
At this point. If you know you are guilty you are much more open to an offer of forgiveness.
Accepting that forgiveness,
The Judge took off his robe and got in the dock and took our punishment for us . By shedding His blood on his torture stake, Jesus took the punishment we deserve and offered us His righteousness. When we trust Christ for our salvation, essentially we are making a trade. By faith, we trade our sin and its accompanying death penalty for His righteousness and life.
so we can be set free; from Sin . We are not held to sin anymore.
Jesus is the only one who can solve the problem.
John 1:4 In him was life and that life was the light of all mankind.
1 Peter 2:23 And while being reviled, He did not revile in return; while suffering, He uttered no threats, but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously; 24 and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed.
2 Corinthians 5:2 God made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
Mark 15:34 By taking upon Himself the sins of the world, Jesus removed Himself from God’s holy presence, and God, in turn, removed Himself from His Son. It was a temporary but excruciating separation, for at that moment, the Son of God became Father-forsaken.
“‘My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?’”
That deep sense of loss of love and separation.
Jesus loses God for us. He doesn’t know if the father will come back? Father forsaken, eternal separation from God in unending torment. Everything he lived for, taken away from him.
Then God unleashed His wrath on His Son so that we might be spared that awful fate. This is the essence of the crucifixion and the reason for our hope: God forsook His Son so that He might never forsake us. God assures us, “‘I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you” Hebrews 13:5.
Have you placed your trust in Jesus Christ as the substitute for your sin? Do you believe that Jesus died for you in order to give you eternal life and that He rose from the dead victorious over sin? If not, we encourage you to receive Jesus as your Savior right now. You can express your desire in a prayer like this:
Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner. I believe You died for my sins and rose again. I trust in You as my Savior now. Forgive me of my sins, and make me into the kind of person You would have me to be. Thank You for your gift of eternal life. Amen.
If you truly believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, you have eternal life. You can rest in that truth. The apostle John has written: “And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life” 1 John 5:11-12. When you have the Son of God, the Lord Jesus, you have eternal life.
Hebrews 9:22 As Moses’ Teachings tell us, blood was used to cleanse almost everything, because if no blood is shed, no sins can be forgiven.
For God to forgive our sins, His judgment had to be satisfied and that required the shedding of blood.
1 John 5:11 This is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is found in his Son. 12 The person who has the Son has this life. The person who doesn’t have the Son of God doesn’t have this life.
