It was myself that raised the vegetables when I spoke of the lads coming round for that feast of aromatic vegetables - then I also said to wink at the beef. That was right at the beginning and you loved that comment. But your reply made it clear that you do not give them beef to eat. Of course what I intended by my comment was that you ought to given them meat and then wink at it. Only my way of making a way to raise other matters carefully and thoughtfully.

You remind me of a lovely sister I know who had eleven children - acres to plough and a husband who was a fine manly man. She was an artist and you are a herbalist. When her art transgressed into the boundary of leading other believers into error I rebuked her because she was harming the church with philosophy that was predicated on false prophetic utterance. I believe that when you are inclined to speak about food and the medicinal or nutritional  benefit of herbs you are transgressing into the boundary of other peoples faith in Christ and are likely to cause harm. You are not likely to transgress into false prophecy but you may call for an Elisha?

I think your artist friend and I have alot in common :) . I don't think I understand your last sentence....

I had a job when I was 16 providing housing for homeless drunk people. It was really a wake up call for me to never let alcohol do to me what it did to them.

I HATE alcohol.  My husband was an alcoholic before we met, in his early 20's.....thank God, he overcame....

  3. For those of you who believe and teach that it matters not what a Christian eats or drinks, can you explain how this passage fits into your thinking?  Thanks in advance :).

    Quote

1Co 10:31  Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

To me, that verse includes FAR MORE than JUST what we "eat or drink" as it contains the word "WHATSOEVER".  How we dress, how we live, what we read, what we listen to, how much we eat (yes, I believe overeating is a sin).

And to set the record straight, I do not believe I can WORK my way to Heaven at all.  I just believe that the Bible says, JESUS SAYS, that if we truly LOVE HIM, we will strive to obey Him.  And I believe it's IMPOSSIBLE to obey Him, on our own....but the Bible is very clear, WITH GOD, ALL THINGS are POSSIBLE.  He doesn't ask us to do anything that He won't enable us to do.

The thing about coffee, chocolate and nicotine, is that neither causes a person to lose their ability to make sound decisions. Neither causes people to have automobile accidents. There are no scriptures against drinking alcohol. What is does repeatedly say is …. don't get drunk. A person is to be in control of their senses.

Telling people what they can or can not eat or drink, as well as attempting to make others feel guilty for eating or drinking certain foods, amounts to legalism verbatim.

    Colossians 2:16
Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink,

    Colossians 2:20-23
Since you died with Christ to the elemental spiritual forces of this world, why, as though you still belonged to the world, do you submit to its rules:  “Do not handle! Do not taste! Do not touch!”?  These rules, which have to do with things that are all destined to perish with use, are based on merely human commands and teachings.  Such regulations indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-imposed worship, their false humility and their harsh treatment of the body, but they lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence.

I don't believe these passages have ANYTHING to do with our diet...  They have everything to do with the CEREMONIAL LAW.  Have you forgotten about the verse ~

    Quote

1Co 10:31  Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

God would be speaking out of both sides of His mouth if here He tells to "eat and drink to the glory of God" and then tell us that it's OK to eat things that are not healthy in another verse....makes no common sense.  But if you understand the verse you quoted as referring to the CEREMONIAL LAW, it all fits together perfectly.

How many died from the flu today?  I'm sorry, but I don't believe the numbers....before Corona, lots of people were dying from the plain old flu....now, hardly anyone dies from the plain old flu and everyone dies from some strain of Corona.  Just doesn't add up.

  8. I just love gardening!  This year, I didn't plant anything in my garden as I believe the Bible teaches that every 7 years we should let the ground rest.  So everything that came up this year in my garden are VOLUNTEERS, as I didn't plant anything.  I have Potatoes, Beans, Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Sunflowers, and this interesting SQUASH.  Last year, I didn't even plant any squash in the garden, I planted them in-between my blueberries.  So I have no clue how this plant got here...and I've never see the kind it is, before.  It's some sort of a HYBRID.  Some of them are shaped like a Butternut Squash and others are shaped like a Pumpkin. They all have the same color.  The amazing part to me is that it's just ONE PLANT - look how big it is!  It makes me think of the verse in the Bible that says ~

    Quote

Mar 4:8  And other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought forth, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred.

This one seed made this HUGE PLANT and there are at least 20 Squash on it!  It's way more than a Hundred Fold :).  I'm so thankful that after 6000+ years, God still puts life in the seed to spring up and bear fruit!

    PRAYER!

    . . .

    2 Chronicles 7:13-14

13 When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, 14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Prayer is for sure a necessity!  But it does not take the place of doing for ourselves what we can.  I like that old saying, "God helps those who help themselves."

Were you going to expand on this? Kind of leaving us hanging here.

My biggest question is what defines a "worker of iniquities" and the average Christian who falls into sin on occasion

Riverwalker, I don't believe that a Christian who falls into sin on occasion is a "worker of iniquity".

I think this verse sheds a little light on WHO is a "worker of iniquity".

    Quote

Mat 23:28  Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.

I think it teaches us that HYPOCRITES, those who claim to be Christians and following Jesus, OUTWARDLY, but in secret, when no one is watching, they are not living a Christian life.

Sinkholes and ground fissures appear in all sorts of shapes and sizes and can appear in many different places around the world. Earthquakes are not the only cause for them. Groundwater withdrawal is the most often cause for them. As the groundwater either shifts, dissolves rock and soil underground, or simply withdraws from a given spot, it stresses the soil unevenly, leading to sinkholes and/or fissure formations. Just because there is no mention of them before Korah's rebellion against Moses, doesn't mean that they never occurred before that time.

All I know, that according to Moses, it was a  "new thing"....something no one had ever seen or experienced before ~ the ground opening up and people disappearing....maybe an earthquake, maybe a sinkhole....whatever...a  NEW THING. :)

There is NO mention of Joshua or Caleb in the whole chapter.  Korah was being snide and sarcastic in his response to Moses words. Notice that Korah's retort is in verse 14. And after Moses tried to reason with him in verse 8 through 11.

1Co 15:50  What I am saying, dear brothers and sisters, is that our physical bodies cannot inherit the Kingdom of God. These dying bodies cannot inherit what will last forever.

1Co 15:51  But let me reveal to you a wonderful secret. We will not all die, but we will all be transformed!

1Co 15:52  It will happen in a moment, in the blink of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown. For when the trumpet sounds, those who have died will be raised to live forever. And we who are living will also be transformed.

1Co 15:53  For our dying bodies must be transformed into bodies that will never die; our mortal bodies must be transformed into immortal bodies.

1Co 15:54  Then, when our dying bodies have been transformed into bodies that will never die [and our mortal bodies have been transformed into immortal bodies], this Scripture will be fulfilled: "Death is swallowed up in victory.

Both these passages are telling us that when people die, they are buried in the grave and stay there until Jesus comes back and resurrects them.  Paul clearly tells us that those who die DO NOT go to Heaven before those who are alive when Jesus returns...he says that those dead in the graves will be resurrected and they will rise up and meet Jesus in the air, along with those who didn't die, and all are taken to Heaven at the same time.  That is my understanding of those passages.  I so look forward to that day!

    The Coming of the Lord

1Th 4:13  And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope.

1Th 4:14  For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with Him the believers who have died.

1Th 4:15  We tell you this directly from the Lord: We who are still living when the Lord returns will not meet Him ahead of those who have died.

1Th 4:16  For the Lord Himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the Christians who have died will rise from their graves.

1Th 4:17  Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever.

1Th 4:18  So encourage each other with these words.

God had chosen Moses and Aaron to serve as priests. The Levites were assigned to serve the Lord in other ways in regards to the Tabernacle and ministering before the people. Specifically, Korah, Dathan and Abiram were not content with this. They wanted the priesthood too, which was given to Moses and Aaron. They incited 250 other Levites to join in this rebellion against Moses and Aaron specifically. Korah's retort was an attempt to justify his desire for the priesthood and leadership.

And yes, I agree with this :)

  18. Appy, I've read the story many times.  There were 12 spies sent into spy out the land of Canaan, right? 1 from each tribe, right.  Well, when they came back to camp after their spying, there were only 2 of them, Joshua and Caleb, who believed that God would bless their efforts and they would take out the Canaanites....all the rest of the spies, all 10 of them, influenced the Israelites that it was impossible to take Canaan....Korah, Dathan and Abiram were of the number that bought the testimony of the 10 spies, not the testimony of Caleb and Joshua.  Korah, Dathan and Abiram were of the number who were destined to live in the wilderness for 40 years, and then die (as all adults over 20, that was their fate for their unbelief)....  They didn't like that.  They concocted this conspiracy theory that Moses had taken them out of Egypt (even calling Egypt the land of milk and honey) and that he intended to kill them all off and enrich himself with their goods.  They were trying to start a rebellion. And God allowed the to manifest what spirit they were off, and then put them in their place.

FYI, I'm not saying all the details are in that one Chapter, but if you put them all together, I'm pretty confident you would come to the same conclusion :)

No, I am a pre tribulation believer. I believe that Jesus Christ will take all of those to heaven who are genuine born again believers before the 7 year tribulation. All those who enter the 7 year tribulation are not believers but many will come to Christ during the 7 year tribulation.

So you believe that you will be taken to Heaven and escape alot of the horrible things that are going to happen, correct?
