  1. Thanks to all who voted so far in the poll. If you have not yet voted in the poll, please vote now.
  2. Hi @Daniel whalen So were the parlors you frequented in Germany mainly used by Germans? or was it an artist who worked round military bases? (Often parlors are part of a huge 'camp following' around a military base or port.)
  3. For the State of Israel, Medinat Yisrael is often used. For the land of Israel, Eretz Yisrael is often used.
  4. @Alive Thank-you. I think it's a rich blessing also when the 'they continued steadfastly' of Acts 2.42 is actually practised.
  5. Psalm 133: "Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! 2 It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments; 3 As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life for evermore."
  6. Well, I'm happy for him to explain what he means.
  7. Thanks, @bdavidc. I don't recall you mentioning that there is a Mrs. bdavidc, but in any case it seems to be an undeniable fact that as regards tattoos - among them, many faith- and family- oriented - it's not merely the younger women that use tattoo parlor services. Commenting about her area, Heavenhome said: My dear Dad had two tattoos but that was from his navy days. I have noticed however that lots of young girls have them and what is really noticeable is a huge amount are women say around their sixties . .................................. shnarkle said: One of the churches I go to has three quite elderly women, all widows, who recently went out and got themselves tattoos. .. There was no doubt they were all first tattoos. All three of them went out and got them together. christianforums dot com ................................ "...Most of my clients are in the older bracket," Gallo-Kohlas told The Huffington Post. "We see a lot of women in their sixties and seventies getting their first tattoos." huffington post ............................... Against this cultural background, it's undeniable that many Godly older women do avail their dermises of at least discreet levels of faith- and family-oriented ink. (Many decades ago it used to be mainly a man thing.)
  8. It's good to have a wide and multicultural perspective.
  9. @bdavidc Just goes to show how vital the pursuit of the Scriptures with prayer and fellowship with other likeminded believers are for discernment between what is genuine and what is false.
  10. Well, I designed this one and had someone put it on my arm. My Christian Tattoo Hi @bdavidc back So are you done getting inked, do you think?
  11. I don't think Orion is implying this.
  12. Hi @Annisissy Well, yes, you would see that - as well as some potential pitfalls - for an 18 year old as a new adult it could have its benefits as a witness tool if indeed she strongly wanted such a permanent enhancement . (As indeed, @Your closest friendnt implies, above, also.) This is against the cultural background that for young ppl of the most conservative and traditional outlook going into the parlor something that they might confidently consider. ........................................ I am a nurse in a cardiac ICU. I am also pretty heavily tattooed. I am a well educated, well rounded nurse, and was raised with strong morals and manners. .. I am an extremely traditional person. Culturally, it's probably become a bit like ear piercing. .................................... But I also come back to the fact that, whether or not they go anywhere near the entrance to a tattoo parlor, it's the inward and spiritual that has primacy; 2 Corinthians 4 is particularly emphatic on this.
  13. I understand that in Chinese, over many decades 'Shen' and 'Shang-di' have been used as the word for God according to varying preferences among professing Christians. I even read that the Union version of the Chinese Bible was available in editions which each reflected one or other of those usages.
  14. PS: @Your closest friendnt Thanks also for participating in the poll vote, above.
  15. @unworthyservant Indeed, this is a good attitude. Some Christians who ultimately take a somewhat different view are indeed on record of having been cautious for maybe a long period, so that their ultimate decision can perhaps be seen to include a degree of caution and careful aforethought. ............................. I waited 5 years before getting it. .. Reno also has a lot of tattoo places. Carson City has a few. Most people travel to Reno or Las Vegas for it. .. I have 1 tattoo and I got it in Reno. .. 16. Every language has its own dynamic and pronunciation. The Lord Himself knows the hearts of those who call upon His Name.
  17. "At the Cross, at the Cross, where I first saw the light And the burden of my heart rolled away, It was there by faith I received my sight And now I am happy (blessed) all the day."
  18. Hi @Your closest friendnt JasperWalls11 said, in these forums: I actually know more women than men with tattoos. The tattoo parlors here are very well lit, very sanitary and don't have that dingy, "underground" or back alley image.. They are rather reputable places. It seems to have become for a long time now a reputable thing to try to express permanently one's innermost convictions. When the most conservative of ppl with deep faith convictions want to have ink in a faith-based design rammed firmly into their dermis, it shows what a sought-after experience it very widely is to go into a tattoo parlor. For some, undergoing a kind of nourishing procedure (like you say) via needles buzzing in a Scripture or faith-based permanent message. This person waited a long time before confidently going in and having it done: ............................. I waited 5 years before getting it. .. Reno also has a lot of tattoo places. 20. "But none of the ransomed ever knew How deep were the waters crossed Nor how dark was the night that the Lord passed through 'Ere He found His sheep that were lost."
  21. Hi @Your closest friendnt Further to your 'like' on the other thread about Romans 14, I do wonder if ppl who are so determined to guilt-manipulate Christians with tattoos (s0metimes in faith-based designs) have taken into account Romans 14. It's so widespread, anyway. .............. Quote ..in the rural Bible Belt. Just about every person in three of the four sides of my family (bio parents, step parents) have multiple tattoos. Most of them are biblical (crosses between the shoulder blades are the most common ones) getting tattoos when your old enough is pretty much expected in the family. source: reddit ..................
  22. The message of the Cross is very searching indeed. Philippians 2 particularly is very searching about the Lord Jesus becoming 'obedient unto death, even the death of the Cross'.
  23. Great post and graphics, @Annisissy.
  24. Hi; @BQ41 Good to 'meet' you here. You can see how vital it is to spend time daily in prayer and the Scriptures.
  25. I do think that it needs to be understood that this is a subject about which Christians will inevitably have a variety - at times, totally different - views. ............ Cachalot said: Tattoos are unlady-like. That is why I would never have one. christianityboard dot com .................. Others, like Jeni Ruth qu. in the post immediately above, will evidently use a tattoo parlor in a totally confident way.
