  1. Acts 24:1-27 What are the methods the unsaved use to oppose the Lord's servants and their work? Having known that many people in high places are susceptible to flattery, Tertullus began with flattery. The appeal of flattery appeals to our pride. We cannot be successfully flattered by others if we don't flatter ourselves. Do we really want to believe what they say? Tertullus then used slander. According to Napoleon, whoever knows how to flatter also knows how to slander. His last weapon was to call on false witnesses who together supported Tertullus's lies against Paul. Yes, they were all lies. Three things made up Paul's defense: his life, his faith, and his service to his nation. Even though his enemies could not prove their accusations, Paul was not freed. There were many things God had for Paul to accomplish in Rome, so that prison was the safest place for him. For you and me, the principle is that we may not understand why God allows lies to triumph, but we must leave it all up to him. He's the one in control, and he's the one who makes the final decision. 2. The raging of the nations and the plots of the rulers are all heard by God. What are they looking for? Their goal is to be free from God. However, real freedom can only be achieved through submission, not rebellion. We’ll read that God laughs. All the noise and threats of puny men do not worry God. Keep your ears open for God’s reassuring voice. Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD and against his Anointed, saying, “Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us.” He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord holds them in derision. Then he will speak to them in his wrath, and terrify them in his fury, saying, “As for me, I have set my King on Zion, my holy hill.” I will tell of the decree: The LORD said to me, “You are my Son; today I have begotten you. Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession. You shall break them with a rod of iron and dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.” Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth. Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way, for his wrath is quickly kindled. Blessed are all who take refuge in him. ~ Psalms 2:1-12 Know the Bible

  4. for I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole counsel of God. ~ Acts 20:27 Paul would not pervert the Word of God in order to receive the approval of men. He taught the whole counsel of God's Word amidst much fleshly opposition. False teachers who love selfish ambition will not teach the whole counsel of God's Word because their motives are self centered and they seek the approval of men rather than God. Paul said, "For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God" (Acts 20:27). Paul said to the Philippians: "Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will: the one preach Christ of contention (or selfish ambition).., but the other of love" (Phil. 1:15-17). Paul was having problems finding a teacher to send to the Philippians because the teachers all had impure motives and loved selfish ambition. Paul said: "For I have no man like-minded, who will naturally care for your state. For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ's" (Phil. 2:20, 21). In Acts, Paul warned the overseers: "Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock... I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them (through selfish ambition)" (Acts 20:28-30). Paul continued, ... . I commend you to God, and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified" (Acts 20:32). Those who love selfish ambition cannot lead a congregation to be sanctified. This is why false teachers will lead many in the last days who will say, "Lord, Lord," but they will not enter into the kingdom of heaven because they did not do the will of God. They were not sanctified and perfected in love. False teachers can never lead a congregation to be holy and righteous. They cannot teach righteousness, because they are blind to righteousness. They will not consistently or seriously preach about God's judgment upon sin, nor will they seriously and consistently preach against sin. Such messages offend the flesh and will keep them from receiving glory from men. Such preaching would also cause them to lose church members and the appearance of success which they need to build their reputation. The powers of darkness are always reminding them of this. They compromise the Word of God. Their hearts are stubborn and hardened. They are at ease in Zion, building ungodly numbers for God. These numbers become like their false teachers: "Can the blind lead the blind? Shall they not both fall into the ditch? The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master" (Luke 6:39, 40). The powers of darkness deceive the heart of the false teacher by making him believe he needs to look good in order to bring the congregation to God. This is the boastful pride of life. He begins to believe that everything that is good for him his name and reputation is good for God. He believes that his apparent success has come as a result of God's favor and blessing on him. He is totally bereft of the spiritual understanding and discernment that would show him that the powers of darkness always cooperate with the ones who practice pride and greed. He does not know that both he and his congregation are .... wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked" (Rev. 3:17). ~ From The Great Falling Away by Milton Green Know the Bible
  5. We read in Acts 19 that the word of the Lord grew mightily and prevailed. Now, we may ask, when does this happen? Well, it happens when we confirm our faith. You see when you believe in Jesus Christ, you receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Many people think they are converted but do not have the Spirit’s witness within. Paul could not build a church on men with an inadequate spiritual experience. And you know what? Neither can we today. We must be honest with God. It happens when we confess our sins. That’s what happens when the Word of the Lord grows mightily and prevails when we confess our sins, the devil sees a great imitator, a great counterfeiter but in this case, his attempt was a humiliating failure. The Lord used it for good because the believers became convicted about their secret sins and confessed them. Then the Spirit could work in mighty power, and the word increased. And when we confront the enemy, Paul did not openly attack their idolatry by picketing the temple of Diana or petitioning the city government. No, he simply shared the Word, and lives were changed. Of course, the real issue was money, not religion. Paul was wise not to go into the theater, although we admire him for his courage. But the riot only called attention to the gospel and gave the believers more opportunity to witness. Circumstances that look like obstacles are really opportunities when you let God hard work. 6. Comment on today's Bible reading: Acts 15:1-35 When God opens a door, the enemy has someone handy to try to close it. Judean legalists, false teachers who taught a doctrine of salvation by works, called Judaizers visited the Antioch Church and taught that Gentiles must become Jews before becoming Christians. It is important for sincere Christians to get together when they disagree and to seek the Word's guidance. God was doing a great work among the Gentiles as Peter, Paul, and Barnabas reported, and James related that to the Word in the decision. Doctrinally, there was no compromise, but practically, there was a consideration. Paul and Barnabas remained in Antioch as well as Silas: teaching and preaching the word of the Lord. This they did in season and out of season, with power, purity, plainness, and faithfulness, preaching the word of God; the Gospel of Christ; not the word of men, but the word of God. Know the Bible

  8. Again false religious people are trying to silence Paul and Barnabas. If we only had more preachers and people that spoke the truth today we would see many come to Christ as Paul and Barnabas did (Acts 13:44). Not many preachers today will teach the truth in fear they will hurt someone’s feelings and not be politically correct (Matthew 12:36). This may be sending many on the broad road to hell. (Proverbs 1:32). No doubt our opposition will erupt with lies to try and keep people from hearing the truth. But we shall stand our ground because 1 John 4:4 states, “Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” Stand your ground with the truth. The Gospel was preached there. Instead of sitting still or hiding, they preached the Gospel, the good news and glad tidings of Christ's incarnation, redemption, peace, pardon, justification through his righteousness, and spiritual and eternal salvation through him. 10. “Brothers, sons of the family of Abraham, and those among you who fear God, to us has been sent the message of this salvation. ~ Acts 13:26 To those among you who fear God! Is death something you fear? Death is an unknown territory for us, so I believe we all fear it. It is not unknown territory to Jesus, though. Unlike all other people, he raised himself from the dead after dying. Just type "Who raised himself from the dead?" in a search engine and see whose name comes up. You should look to him for information about who you should fear. (Matthew 10:28). Acts 13 begins with Paul spreading the Gospel in this way. We still need to focus on this message today. This message is again taken to the synagogue, not because this is a church building, but to open people's eyes to the false religion being taught there. Let it be known to you therefore, brothers, that through this man forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you, and by him everyone who believes is freed from everything from which you could not be freed by the law of Moses. ~ Acts 13:38-39 Know the Bible
  11. In our Bible reading for today, it seems impossible to witness and teach the bible without encountering opposition. It is almost a certainty that whenever I post on message boards the truths of the Bible, someone will attempt to divert attention away from them. Most likely, you'll hear "Do Not Judge" to silence you when you stand for the bible. Paul did not flinch and looked this man in the eye and said, "You son of the devil,..." and blinded him as well. As a result, the proconsul believed. In other words, we should keep our eyes on Jesus and preach the good news all the time, not shying away from the truth. Know the Bible
  12. And the people were shouting, “The voice of a god, and not of a man!” Immediately an angel of the Lord struck him down, because he did not give God the glory, and he was eaten by worms and breathed his last. ~ Acts 12:22-23 did not give glory to God. The crime for which Herod was executed by God (A.D. 44), who will eventually condemn and execute all who are guilty of this crime (Romans 1:18-23). eaten by worms. According to Josephus, Herod endured terrible pain for five days before he died. He did not give God the glory. This is a very good warning to all people living in our current moment in time. So many people that claim to be Christian don't even know what the Bible actually says. They just give their own opinions so they can make the Bible say what they want. I beg everyone to study and know the Bible for themselves and not base their salvation on a person's opinion. Know when people are deceiving you. Apparently, Herod did not reprove nor reject the flatterers, but tacitly took the flattery to himself, which was God's. He was not even a Christian. This is happening in many Church pulpits today and it is very dangerous. God's wrath is on all ungodliness fake Christians or non-Christians. #biblestudy #dailybible Know the Bible
  13. When they heard these things they fell silent. And they glorified God, saying, “Then to the Gentiles also God has granted repentance that leads to life.” ~ Acts 11:18 Before Jesus’ time, were the Gentiles able to be saved? The truth is, however, that God offered salvation to Gentiles long before there were any descendants of Israel, and you may be surprised that a man named Abraham is a prime example of a Gentile who received God’s salvation. Abraham of course was not a Jew; neither was he a descendant of Israel. Rather he was Israel’s (Jacob’s) grandfather. Yet according to Genesis 15:16, God declared Abraham to be righteous because of his faith. Paul mentioned this fact about Abraham in his letters to the Romans and Galatians as he argued that salvation is offered now to both Jews and Gentiles by faith (see Rom. 4:3; Gal. 3:6). If Abraham—who appears early in Genesis and who lived hundreds of years before the giving of the Law of Moses—was declared righteous by God, this proves that Gentiles could be forgiven and declared righteous by God long before Jesus was born. #biblestudy #dailybible Know the Bible
  14. Meme for this post. The ministry of sharing the gospel with sinners is not given to angels by God. Evangelizing lost souls is a privilege we have, one that angels do not have. It is intriguing to me how God got the message to the ministers of the Gospel in the early Church. Instructing Cornelius himself was not the angel's purpose, but to direct him to an apostle of Christ and minister of the Gospel; not angels, but men, are selected in the ministry of the word, which is the normal method of acquiring spiritual knowledge. Therefore, Philip instructed the eunuch, Ananias instructed Saul, and Peter instructed Cornelius. Peter is going to share the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ with Cornelius bearing witness that everyone who believes in Jesus receives forgiveness of sins through his name. In my opinion, sharing the good news that Jesus can save anyone who repents of their sin and obeys Him is extremely inspiring. #biblestudy #dailybible Know the Bible

  15. Acts 9:26-43 God used several people to touch the life of Saul of Tarsus, a turning point in the history of the Church. Paul is remembered, but we often forget the people who helped him get started. Stephen's testimony, as well as the testimonies and prayers of those who were persecuted by Saul, are significant. The disciples at Damascus saved his life after Ananias baptized him and encouraged him. The bridge was built by Barnabas, the son of Encouragement when the Church in Jerusalem feared welcoming Saul into their fellowship. It's what encouragers do. They build bridges. Saul was later enlisted by Barnabas to serve in the Antioch Church and travel with him among the Gentiles in evangelism. Unlike Saul, you might not be called to a prominent job, but you can do the job God has given you and be an encouragement to others. The brave men who smuggled Saul out of Damascus are unknown, but holding the ropes was crucial. #biblestudy #dailybible Know the Bible
  16. Saul immediately rose and was baptized. In our study yesterday the same thing took place with Philip and the Ethiopian Eunuch showing us that baptism is very important to in our road to salvation through Jesus Christ. Baptism is the ceremony in which a Christian is immersed in water before the church to publically symbolize their belief in Christ. The water is a symbol of sin being washed away. John Gill said, "And this also may suggest to us, that only enlightened persons are the proper objects of this ordinance; such as have the scales of darkness, ignorance, and unbelief removed from them, and have a spiritual sight and sense of divine things: hence the ancients used to call baptism by the name of φωτισμος, "illumination", and baptized persons "enlightened" ones." It is only through obedience that we can come to know Jesus Christ. By knowing the bible you can know His will, be obedient and never hear the words "depart from me I never knew you" Matthew 7:21-23. #biblestudy #dailybible https://know-the-bible.com/june-13/
