Can two devoted people be married in Gods eyes without a legal registered contract? I am in a devoted relationship where we have committed our lives to each other, but circumstances mean that getting legally married is not permitted. If we say our vows before God and a trusted witness would this be enough to constitute a binding marriage in Gods eyes such that we could move in together without living in sin? I believe the legal side is to satisfy human requirements, but that the real essence of marriage is a binding covenant between the couple and God. I would welcome insight into this topic.
