    The NKJV

Reading through most of the post on this topic makes me feel really spiritually immature. I have found through my readings of the Bible that I like what all the translations of the Bible say. The message is universal and all tell me that Christ died for my sins and therefore due to my belief in that, I am going to spend eternity with Him. I like the King James, the New King James, the NIV, and lately I have been reading more of the Holman Christian Standard Bible. I believe that if one's heart is truly of Christ, no matter what accredited translation is read, the real meaning of the verse or verses will be understood. I have been told before that I can be somewhat naive concerning my Christian beliefs. I tend to be too simplistic and sometimes too trusting.
  3. Thanks Dad Ernie, Your answer is very inspiring. Thanks for the research. I believe you opened my eyes to the true meaning of the beginnig of Genesis.
  4. Thanks for the responses. I considered the "Jesus is the light" However, I do not think Jesus nor the Holy Spirit were created. I thought the Holy Trinity has always existed. Some one correct me if I am wrong. I do think it is an interesting topic but not all important such as the way to salvation.
  5. I do not have any doubt that it occured and it does not worry me. I am simply curious as to the purpose of the light. Did God need to see to create the rest of the world? (Ha Ha). Where is this light now? Is this light mentioned again in scripture? The question is not difficult for me. I have no questions as to the ability of God to create light without a source and I do think it is mentioned again in Revelations.
  6. On the first day God created light. On the fourth day God created the sun and the moon. From where did the light come on day one. I believe in the litteral translation of creation. This question of light puzzles me. Does anyone have an opinion on this? Genesis 1:3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. Genesis 1:16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: [he made] the stars also
  7. QUOTE(Leonard @ May 18 2005, 08:27 PM) "God came from Teman....." Habakkuk 3:3 Teman was a major city in Edom. Thanks for the help because I could not even find the verse. I was looking in Genesis. I think I can explain this verse further know to mean that at that time in Habakkuk, that God came from that direction. I was having a hard time explaining to my inlaws that this was literal at the time but not literal from origin.
  8. I am a new poster but I have been reading the posts for several months. I really enjoy the humor post by frequently view the doctrinal questions. I am usually resourceful in researching various questions but I am having trouble with this one in. My in-laws are really good people and they brought up something the other day that out of respect I was reluctant to dispute without further research. They were talking about how their dad had shown the bible verse in Genesis that mentioned that God was from or of teaman or tea man. They were unable to locate the verse and I was unable to find anything in the King James Version online Encyclopedia. Can anyone help with this? Where and what was God doing before the creation?
