  1. Its when someone speaks in a foreign language or the language of angels.

By people of strange tongues and by the lips of foreigners will I speak to this people, and even then they will not listen to me, says the Lord. - from 1 Corinthians 14:21

And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? - Acts 2:8

both Jews and proselytes, Cretans and Arabians—we hear them telling in our own tongues the mighty works of God. - Acts 2:11

If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. - 1 Corinthians 13:1

At a time I was possessed by a spirit and spoke in what I thought to be tongues, but it was probably a demon. After being freed I hold a bit of a defense stance towards tongues and I'm not sure if it's even a gift that is still administered to people. Soothsayers can be mistaken as prophets, if you read this verse:

It happened that as we were going to the place of prayer, a slave-girl having a spirit of divination met us, who was bringing her masters much profit by fortune-telling. 17 Following after Paul and us, she kept crying out, saying, "These men are bond-servants of the Most High God, who are proclaiming to you the way of salvation." - Acts 16:16-17

She had a spirit of divination and nowadays people with such spirits are being called prophets by certain people or themselves.  Also when I was speaking in that fake tongue or whatever it was I kept repeating a syllable over and over and it meant probably nothing to do with God. The lady who tried to 'teach' us to speak in tongues said the more you do it the more syllables you get or whatever. It is complete nonsense. I'm pretty sure real tongues are fluent and sound like another language but I'm not sure if legitimate tongue-speaking is being administered by the Holy Spirit in the present Age. You'll know anyone is a phony by their fruits like Jesus said. If a person claims or believes they speak in tongues and you find them as a sinner then you will know that it is not the Holy Spirit. Because the Holy Spirit cannot dwell in a sinner. Pentecostal doctrine dictates that speaking of tongues is a sign you are saved but it isn't, and I think deep followers of the Pentecostal doctrine are possessed by spirits.

comment on Holy Spirit cannot DWELL in a sinner we are all sinners thus by Gods Grace we are cleansed by the BLOOD OF JESUS sin is still in our lives therefore thank YOU LORD THAT THY HOLY SPIRIT DWELLS IN THIS SINNER

  2. Have you ever feel the Holy Spirit hovering in your heart? Not sure how to ask or put this in words correctly. Hope you understand my question.

  3. Right now, I am investigating Christianity as a faith, but this Biblical passage is tripping me up. As a former atheist, I denied the existence of God, and, at one point, argued that Satan must be stronger than God. Does this constitute blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, permanently banning me from receiving salvation?

Shalom and welcome only sin of blasphemy is to deny OUR Lords work and attribute it to satan capital OUR ==== you and I sence from your seeking OUR LORD HAS DRAWN YOU UNTO HYMSELF blessing peachpits CHRIST be with you

  4. There is only one faith. That is Jesus Christ. Man has come up with many belief systems.

AMEN alien.  As in all walks of life, one thinks and says, another thinks and says.  So much diversity as to what our LORD says through SCRIPTURE.   I look, read and understand the Word.  I am not analytical.  I read and speak to our Lord, just as Paul writes

  5. Luke - 8: 16 - 18

16 “No one who lights a lamp conceals it with a vessel or sets it under a bed; rather, he places it on a lampstand so that those who enter may see the light.

I know a large family that for generations have gone to church, they say they are Catholic, may be evangelical, but if you ask them about the gospel, know nothing of his teachings, and of course, no one can put into practice what you do not know, - because I say these things? - Because if we do not practice the teachings of the Gospel, God can not do anything because, Jesus the light came into the world to enlighten us with his wisdom, but give very little importance. then come the blows of life and say, where is God? - Does God exist? * No one who lights a lamp conceals it with a vessel or sets it under a bed

17For there is nothing hidden that will not become visible, and nothing secret that will not be known and come to light.k 18Take care, then, how you hear. To anyone who has, more will be given, and from the one who has not, even what he seems to have will be taken away.

And so it is, The Gospel and wisdom are not hidden - and their secrets to be discovered, but will not be revealed by simple celebrations, some by attending a celebration think it is enough and say they have faith, but when tribulations come , they ask, why me? - Not to look, not to ask, not to insist again and again. - there are Bible -why expect?

What if we start to practice these things?

    Proverbs 3: 27 - 34

27Do not withhold any goods from the owner when it is in your power to act.

28Say not to your neighbor, “Go, come back tomorrow, and I will give it to you,” when all the while you have it.

29Do not plot evil against your neighbors, when they live at peace with you.

30Do not contend with someone without cause, with one who has done you no harm.

31Do not envy the violent and choose none of their ways:i

32To the LORD the devious are an abomination but the upright are close to him.

    33The curse of the LORD is on the house of the wicked,but the dwelling of the just he blesses;

34Those who scoff, he scoffs at, - but the lowly he favors.

    AMEN
  6. What is a good prayer for receiving the Baptism in the Holy Spirit and is it for everyone?

Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His rightchessnes and all these things shall be added unto thee yes Baptism in the Holy Spirit is for all who would seek and Believe
  7. I think some of us have lost our focus on why we are here at worthy boards and why we are called together as Christians to fellowship with one another.

It seems as if prayer requests and praises go ignored but any topic that causes controversy, gets 200 posts.

Is that why we are called together?

To bicker and argue and fight over the meanings of scripture?

To criticize and fight over government policies?

To discern over each others salvation?

    I don't think so.

    1 Corin

    10. Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

We are called together to support eachother.

    To strengthen eachother.

To pray for and help one another.

Where two or more are gathered in His name, He is in their midst.

Do we want Jesus to see us back biting and causing strife?

    I for one do not.

Please my brothers and sisters in Christ.

Think about why we are here.

    Love Gia

  8. Well, I think you know where I stand.   Anything that declares that God is not 100% Sovereign and can fail at His plan is offensive and heresy in my book. I realize that others feel differently.

I really think that most people start from a wrong perspective. So many people think that human beings "deserve" something, or that they should get a "fair" deal. Once one realizes that all anyone deserves is hell, then the loving Almighty and the grace of His plan are revealed. Awesome!

My son has a girl that likes him and takes him to her youth group every week. (They are 13). Today, he made the comment to me that the family was very nice, "even if the mom is wrong about Bible things". I asked him what he meant and he said "Well, she says that all children/babies automatically go to Heaven because they know no sin". I said - "Did you say anything?" He said - "No, I wanted to tell her she should read her Bible and get the truth about it, but I didn't want to be rude". LOL! It warms my heart to know he is paying attention. (and wouldn't be rude too, lol)

This was an excellent overview of the differing points, GMan. Thanks.
