  1. The interrogation techniques used against them are lawful.
  2. Those terrorists do not deserve nor are they entitled to the same rights as us. They're lucky to be alive right now. Our soldiers could easily have killed them on the battlefield and no one would think twice about it. Now you want to afford them the rights that millions of Americans have fought and died for? You want to give them due process when they'd slice your head off in front of a camera and use it to advance their cause? You want to protect these killers? You want to pay for their trials? Like I said before, I am a soldier and they're lucky to still be breathing. You are off your rockers and I cannot believe you would want to protect these people. How about protecting Americans? Or are you the type that would rather "help the world" by adopting 3rd world country orphans, while ignoring those in your own country?
  3. So, what do you propose we do to lawful combatatants that are captured on the battlefield? There are provisions in GC that says we must give them POW status, believe it or not, we are actually giving more rights to the terrorists at GB than POW's (lawful combatants) have on the battlefield. Terrorists are not lawful combatants and are not protected by GC. They are not American citizens and did not commit their crimes in America. How can you rationalize that argument? They were attacking our soldiers, since they do not represent a sovereign nation and are not uniformed by one and their countries do not want them back, what are we supposed to do with them? Bring the enemy to America, imprison him, then what? We can't deport them because no one will take them and we most certainly will not hand them over to terrorist supporting countries. It'd be like capturing viet cong guerillas, keeping them in our POW camps for a few months, them giving them back to northern vietnam, what do you think they will do? They'd be back on the battlefield killing more of our soldiers.
  4. Ok, let's abandon our homes and depend on society to shelter, clothe, feed and protect us.
  5. No one is blaming his family for his actions. They are victims of his crimes too.
  6. Voter fraud can also skew election results, but measures to prevent that are opposed by the democrats.
  7. How is that tyrannical Amor? Those prisoners have better living conditions than our soldiers on the battlefield. Are you saying the terrorists at Guantanamo Bay and other prisons are unjustly imprisoned?
  8. I for one, think no one should spend life in prison, it costs us too much money to support the criminal. If someone was convicted of a horrendous crime, rape, murder etc. death seems to be a perfectly justified punishment. People that say the death penalty is ungodly, don't know God very well. He killed people for lying. So, petty criminals should face time in jail, violent criminals should face a lot of time in jail and murderers, rapists and pedophiles should be executed immediately following their conviction.
  9. Besides, the end result happened. The convicted first degree murderer is no longer a threat to society.
  10. You are right, if potential criminals have no fear of consequences for their actions, then they have no fear of the law and will ignore it.
  11. I figured as much. If we mobilize and decide to participate in our elections, the S-P's and liberals wouldn't stand a chance.
  12. Are you ready to see the Eiffel Tower demolished because islam may view it as a pagan phallic symbol of fertility?
  13. We are witnessing the forced islamization of France. We should all pay close attention to these events as they unfold. We may be facing the same problems before we know it.
  14. Rebellion? You mean rebellion by migrating to a different country/culture than you have known, and refusing to assimilate into the new country and being adamantly opposed to learning the national language of the country you now call home and want to complain about not being able to find a job?
  15. "I truly hope that I am wrong, and that diplomacy and common sense will somehow prevail. The last thing Israel needs right now is another painful conflict, and we should all pray to God for His mercy and intervention." We know that God has used looming disaster and catastophic warfare to bring the Jews back to Him. If ever there was a more needed miracle and evidence of God's existence and care, this statement definitely displays His will. As for the comments made by vexillum: "How do you know the "terrorists" (who's that?) want Bush out of office? They might like Bush as the best recruiting tool they ever have. Islamic extremists have been wanting to overthrow the secular and moderate governments of the middle-east. Bush has done that in Iraq, for them. We lost the day we went in. Now, it's just a question of how much we want to lose. Over 2800 America troops killed in Iraq, and counting. Hundreds of billions of dollars spent, and counting. You say we must not lose. What's a win? When we finally find and destroy Saddam's alleged stockpiles of WMDs?" This person is obviously out of touch with the intentions of our government. Our foreign policy since last century has been to destroy oppressive, tyrannical governments, liberate millions and spread democracy and freedom throughout the world. What makes the war in Iraq any different? Giving the Iraqi people a say in how their government is run is a major victory there. Vexillum seems to ignore the fact that after an oppressive government is overthrown civil war soon follows. Look our history. Iran is attempting to speed up the process (civil war) in an effort to demoralize the US and get us to abandon Iraq during it's democratic infancy. If Iran can determine the outcome of the new Iraqi government, it will gain a valuable ally and bring it closer to destroying Israel. Do you think Iran has the capability to launch missiles from within it's borders? If it doesn't it needs to be closer to Israel and the best way to achieve that is to gain "political capital" in Iraq. Right now, the Democracy in Iraq is the greatest threat to Iran's plans to destroy Israel, which is why the outcome of this conflict is the most crucial event for the US and Iran. If we win, Iraq will be democratic and less willing to go to war with Israel. If we lose, Iran will gain influence and power and will be closer to it's destructive goal. Vexillum, no doubt believes the Iraqi people were better off being imprisoned and tortured by their government, otherwise, why would this individual say the war in Iraq is a failure and we must abandon the Iraqi people. Of course, we know nothing about this poster. 2800 American lives is a very small price to pay for what our cause is. Our country has sacrificed more people in 1 day of war than the 4 years we've been in Iraq. I am an active duty service member and I am fully aware of the sacrifices we may be called to make. Let me tell you all something, those serving over in Iraq feel the same way I do. If they disagreed with our presence in Iraq, they wouldn't be reenlisting. We've had the highest reenlistment rate we've had in decades. We are also meeting our recruitment goals and exceeding them in some places. Reenlistment is a good gauge of Troop Morale. It's simple, if our soldiers hate what they're doing, they leave the service, when their commitment ends, if they believe in the cause of our goverment, they recommit their lives (reenlist) for the use of our government.
  16. I agree with that too Butero. Geneva Convention is a treaty that regulates the conduct of Governments and their militaries during times of war. Using the SC to force our government to comply with something that is in neither is tyrannical.
  17. What is this thread about? Mark foley are anti-voter fraud legislation?
  18. Principles of ulterior motives. (Such as voting more than once per election or being ineligible to vote since they do not posess US citizen status)
  19. That scripture was also taken out of context and attempted to be used to justify drug use. First off, the garden no longer exists and was destroyed when man was banished from it. After that, God cursed the earth so that it's animals and plants would be dangerous to man. Poppy, marijuana, (whatever plant is used for cocaine), roses with thorns, poison ivy, poison oak, etc. Those are all part of the curse. Most high, (I am starting to think that name is not used to describe a moral state) using your argument, heroin and cocaine should be legalized also. See where this is going? "Marijuana grows naturally and has medical benefits", well so does poppy, but that is used in morphine (which is used under the close supervision of doctors and nurses). I am sure some person would even say that cocaine can be used as a stimulant (much like adrenalin) in the case of a pulmonary emergency. These drugs are illegal because the consequences of their use are more negative than any medical benefit they may have. Such is the case with marijuana. Marijuana is an alternative treatment and there are other drugs nonasconsequential (ya'll like that word?) as marijuana that can be used for treatment.
  20. disenfranchisement: n : the act of withdrawing certification or terminating a franchise [ant: certification] WordNet
  21. you need to look up the term disenfranchised anyway. It means to withdraw certification or franchisement. disfranchise is the proper term to use, when talking about withdrawing a privilege that comes with a citizenship, such as the right to vote, but it can also be applied to people who cannot get a handgun, because they do not have the proper ID card to get one. They are being disfranchised. But, you can jump on the "disenfranchisement" bandwagon and look ignorant if you're comfortable with that.
  22. quote buck: "Are people without "photo ID" to be disenfranchised? Or are they expected to go to the expense and possibly compromise their principles by "getting photo ID" to exercise their basic rights?" So, what's your plan to limit voter fraud and to allow only legal American Citizens to vote? B-T-W: The ID's cost 6 dollars and they only have to be purchased once. Just ask these same "poor disenfranchised" people if they have a driver's license, when they say they do, just remember driver's ed costs over $100.00 to take and in many states, DL #'s cost over 20 bucks to renew. Anyone can afford a voter id card. And for those that a truly desperate, the voter ID cards are free, courtesy of you and me and they only have to buy them once in a lifetime. 6 bucks ain't too bad a price to pay to make sure those that are elected were truly elected by real, living, breathing, legal American citizens. Some elections have beend decided by the dead. How rediculous is that? The dead don't speak, let alone crawl out of their graves and walk to the nearest voting station. I think we should remove people from the voter verification process anyway and use the voter id's to validate a person's identity in a voting database and once that person votes, with that ID, that person's name is removed from elegibility status for that election. The only people that are against the voter ID's are people that depend on the flaws of our election process to gain an adavantage over their opponents. Instead of letting the Americans decide who their government should be, these opposers don't care. Now, why would someone encourage a system to remain flawed, when it effects so many people's lives? Because, they would rather use that to justify their claims of an illegitimate election when they lose. So they can stonewall, filibuster and feel completely justified in doing so. They want to cast doubt on an election when they lose. (funny, how their policies of letting just anyone vote without verification, are the true reasons why there's any doubt in the first place)
  23. This is an opposing policy. They are paying their citizens to abstain from having kids. Beats the alternative. . .drowning/smothering baby girls.
  24. I still do not have a clear understanding of the point you are trying to make. If you do not want your intentions to be misinterpreted, then you need to make your points clearer. We need to be harsh with people that may or may not intentionally leave out parts of scripture to enforce their opinions. How are we to know what your intentions are if all we have to go by are a few scriptures and a little vague commentary. We may not have a clue about what is going on, but it shouldn't stop us from criticizing those whom we believe opposes the will of God. In this case it is ahmedinijad and he has made hisself out to not only be an enemy of God (by calling for the annihilation of the Jewish people) but an enemy of world peace, prosperity and stability as well. He is a bad person and when he states that he wants to wipe Israel off the map and in the same breath says he is developing nuclear technology for peaceful purposes, we have no other option but to call him a liar. A spade is a spade.
