  1. The word translated 'fear' can also mean 'respect', but if allied with 'trembling' (quaking), 'respect' would not make sense.
  2. Indeed they do. It's amazing, that evolution can provide instant changes immediately after the flood, and then stop dead. Really amazing.
  3. Ok. When does God's Word tell you that this flood occurred? The Lord doesn't say when, but rest assured it was a LONG time ago! How long? Millions of years? I doubt that. Why? It's a LONG time ago!

  5. Oh, dear. I have hardly got started. But yours you cannot prove. There lies the difference. I just asked you not to blaspheme. You know very well that this term is offensive to me. Catholics bully in this way so very often, perhaps without realising it. So it's ok for your self-appointed 'pope' to declare some saints, and others anathema, but not for others to do likewise. There's a huge sin pointer?
  6. Ok. When does God's Word tell you that this flood occurred?
  7. Wot, his rainbow? Like the rest of Genesis 1-11, the story of Noah and the ark is allegory, with much spiritual meaning in it that the majority of those who take the story literally do not appreciate. Prove it. Careful, now. That's amazing. When was this flood? If.
  8. Wot, his rainbow? Like the rest of Genesis 1-11, the story of Noah and the ark is allegory, with much spiritual meaning in it that the majority of those who take the story literally do not appreciate. Prove it.
  9. I don't believe it is beyond the wit of wealthy Americans to find a way. It may be beyond their will, though.
  10. Ask the right question. Should one brother be living in luxury while another starves? Indeed. Across the border into Mexico is as far as one needs to go. I don't mean that at all. I mean real poverty.
  11. Wot, his rainbow? Like the rest of Genesis 1-11, the story of Noah and the ark is allegory, with much spiritual meaning in it that the majority of those who take the story literally do not appreciate. It is a true story, but with much spiritual truth in it. I don't suppose you can quote Ham with spiritual meaning about anything from Genesis.
  12. Sometimes they are poor because they have no money, and that through no fault of their own. This state of affairs is the constant concern of the Old and New Testaments.
  13. I'm the same 'Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread. Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, 'Who is the Lord?' Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonour the name of my God.' Prov 30:8-9 NIV
  14. Ask the right question. Should one brother be living in luxury while another starves? So what was Paul doing taking a collection?
  15. So do you really mean to say that "Peter, you are the greatest of the disciples, so I am leaving the church in your care as my vicar on earth" is no clearer than "Feed my sheep"? Why did my earlier post get no reply? It means the same thing to me, except that the whole church would be indicated by 'all my sheep'. However, what does this have to do with Peter in particular? Do you really mean to say that "Peter, you are the greatest of the disciples, so I am leaving the church in your care as my vicar on earth" is no clearer than "Feed my sheep"? Can you prove that I should not govern and teach you? I don't think that you can. Please do not blaspheme. All of these men will be raised to go to the depths of hell, imv, so cite authority that I can respect. No, you can't. You can hear a pastor (or anyone at all) read from the Bible. Do learn to write English properly and without suspicion of dishonesty (and indeed absurdity). On the contrary, prophets are subject to the control of prophets. Real churches of any size have several pastors, and there must be agreement between them, and indeed with the whole congregation, about what Scripture means. It is quite true that the great majority of Protestant denominations retain the pagan practice of the Roman emperors in having a single place-man rule a congregation, as you have noted, but this is designed to block the influence of the Holy Spirit, just as it is in the RCC. Independents and house churches are increasingly obeying Paul in having collegiate leadership, or several shepherds to feed the flock. The Reformation still has some way to go.
  16. Does anybody really believe that a spiritual git can be martyrdom????? But you did not reply to a post asking for evidence that you are telling the truth. We are being asked to believe a tenet of faith on the basis of an individual's testimony, an individual quite unknown to us personally. This, I think, is improper grounds on which to base a claim for right belief, and would lower the minimum standard for proof below what is acceptable for the church. This standard would provide carte blanche for false teachers if adopted generally. There is no Biblical basis for a spiritual gift of martyrdom, and to my knowledge, no suggestion of it in the history of the last 2000 years, which is very varied in the following of beliefs of many sorts. All Christians must be prepared to die for the sake of Christ, or they are not worthy of Him.
  17. This is odd. Paul commands that faith is worked out with fear and trembling. That is for you to think about. Paul commanded it. Maybe you should read the thread.
  18. Ask the right question. Should one brother be living in luxury while another starves? But they do. It is happening right now. From 'The Forgotten Chapter': 'And here is my advice about what is best for you in this matter: last year you were the first not only to give but also to have the desire to do so. Now finish the work, so that your eager willingness to do it may be matched by your completion of it, according to your means. For if the willingness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what he does not have. Our desire is not that others might be relieved while you are hard pressed, but that there might be equality. At the present time your plenty will supply what they need, so that in turn their plenty will supply what you need. Then there will be equality, as it is written: "He who gathered much did not have too much, and he who gathered little did not have too little."' 2 Cor 8:10-15 NIV
  19. Just see #157. And Matthew is not John. O.k. Pointer you are not making yourself clear. Post #157 says....why didn't my earlier post get a reply. So answer it, dear fellow. Why does #148 still not have a reply? Not too difficult for the Vicar of Christ, surely? And #157 contains two other questions that you cannot miss, surely. The Roman claim in question is in John, not Matthew. That's the one about sheep, ok? Now let's see if the Holy Church can come up with an answer or two. Sometime.
  20. This is odd. Paul commands that faith is worked out with fear and trembling.
