So, they are your gods? No, they are just the people I'd like to spend eternity with =) Who wouldn't want to spend eternity with Dawkins? *swoon* Sadly, your words will one day come back to haunt you. Doubtfully. I'm still swooning for my "God", Dawkins. I'd rather be in the Hell for bad people than the Heaven for bad people. Who is Dawkins?? Anyway--Hell is no party--people exist alone in their terror and pain..there is no camaraderie! It is a place not created for humanity, but for fallen spirits. You don't want to share in their punishment, do you? Share in their punishment for what? For furthering the cause of science? If so, then, I take hell as a compliment.

I was sincere. People do stupid things sometimes, I know. Like pray to a God they know doesn't exist.

=) Yep, I came here because I wanted to display my cynicism and scepticism. I have done this "ask God to heal your sins" crap. DOesn't work. It simply does not work. Yes it does, my friend. I'm living proof! t. Something tells me you were more of a "rebel" atheist than a scientific one.

Oh noez, I was a homosexual =O=O=O And please, don't pull the "God as a drug stopper". We're not even talking about that.

Umm, this is ironic, but I have frequent insomnia (OMGITSTHEHANDOFTHELORD)

My heart is heavy for all those like you Arialia... honestly. I really do care for you as a person regardless of your response. I'd rather be with the ONE who loved me (and you) so much that HE sacrificed Himself so I could spend an eternity with HIM. For me, it isn't about heaven or hell, good or bad. Rather it is about our Creator, Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. You choose to remain an enemy of God. You do so by simply ignoring His voice. It is His vocie but it is your choice. My heart is heavy but I know I cannot argue you into a relationship with HIM. If I could, someone else could argue you out of it. What I pray for you though is that you seek HIM out through the hard questions. Once you do so with a humble heart and open mind, you will experience HIM and begin a lifelong stream of answers to most of your questions. May the Lord Bless you richly, Wayne Oh, right, he's SO good he lets people all ove3r the world suffer. He's so amazingly wonderful, this creator, that despite all he can do, he cannot give everyone shelter, food, and drink enough to live. He's so wonderful he orders the destruction of other people, the murder of people of other cultures, and the eradication of people unlike him. Were he human, world wars would be waged against him. But his "Godly" status makes him impenetrable, in the eyes of his believers. He is wonderful, no matter how evil he truly is. And yes, you struck a nerve there, thanks for wondering.

Steve? XD Um, I've been hurt by people who claim to know God. I don't want to go anywhere near him. Umm, when did he do this? He didn't believe in God. Um, I'm not sure what this means. The goal is to get so hurt I run to God? No thanks. He's never revealed Himself to me. No matter how much I've prayed, He's never shown himself to me. I suppose I don't have the guts to be blind. Too bad...

Faith is totally unnecessary. Faith is, simply put, believing in what is unprovbable, either by example or by it happening consistently before. Therefore, it is not "faith" to think that the sun will come up tomorrow, it is simply accepting that every other day, the sun has come up, and therefore, the sun will most likely come up tomorrow. And yeah. That's probably hard to read or something.

Nah, I'd agree that afterlives and the such are a farce. In fact, I detest the idea of an afterlife. I'd rather not exist than spend time in "heaven". I'd certainly rather be in Hell, with Hawking and Dawkins and Darwin and Einstein.

Imagine that. Christians who believe that God can do anything. Who would think such a thing on a Christian web site? t. No, how about "imagine that: Christians totally disregarding the laws of science and answering the questions they can't with logic with the God cop out?"
-
Steve McQueen (I like your name, by the way), you're going to have to be resigned to the fact that these people can use their cop out card of "God can do anything" whenever they want, and of course, they have it justified =S It's totally unfair, but yeah. It's the truth. (will get attacked for this)

The word is brouhaha, not boo haha. XD Anyway, I dislike Christianity so much because it has tainted the world with its evil grasp. It's caused so many problems and so much chaos in the world, it would be betyter off gone. I am also sick of this fairy tale burrowing into my government, breaking the Constitution, and corrupting people to do things they should never do. In the words of my hero, Richard Dawkins: By all means let's be open-minded, but not so open-minded that our brains drop out. And I hate to say this (not really), but I just don't believe in the Lie. Sorry.

Evolution and religion can very well coexit peacefully. But fundamentalism and evolutionsim cannot. Sure, evolution doesn't explain self-awareness. But evolution is the theory about how present-day organisms came to be, not a philosophic view. It has nothing to do with how beings came into creation, or why, or any of that stuff. I would not recommend "What the bleep do we know?" because it is new age propaganda. XD

Um, atheists really do not believe, as hard it is for you to grasp. It may not make sense to you in your current life situation for other people to not believe in what you take for granted. But it happens, and just because you cannot aghree with us doesn't invalidate our lack of beliefs/beliefs.
-
The urden of proof lies upon the person making the claim of the existence of an entity. The person who doubts something exists does not have to prove that it does not exist. Rather, the person claiming it does exist has to. Wikipedia article. At least, we're talking about real debating, and not persnickety "I'm right and you're wrong nah nah" debates.
-
I've tried this. Doesn't work. When you know, deep down inside, that the chances of God b eing real are slim to none, it ruins the experience. Sorry.
-
Why are you here then? To stir up trouble or are you searching for something? Cause I want to be here =S Because I can.
-
And what happens to the rest of us at that point? Are we in hell, or are we all being ruled by Christians? May I be blunt? You'll be in the lake of fire forever....unless you repent of your sins now.... Anita May I be blunt? Atheists just don't believe this. You could have everyone in their towns telling us this and we still won't care. So even though you're trying to save us, it doesn't work. If it were that simple to just have to hear a Christian and suddenly be like "omg, you're right," most atheists wouldn't be so today. I'm not trying to be rude. I'm just saying that you'll have to do more than tell us to turn or burn.

Time to let God take over. Follow the Lord. We are called to reject the sins of the world and live our lives to please Him. If all of mankind lived in unity with God, wow! What an awesome place that would be. Wow! Just like in the Old testament, where God's people eradicated many different cultures, all from the orders of their peace-loving God! John Lennon taught something far better than religion. He taught peace. he taught acceptance, something many religions cannot grasp. He taught love, peace, kindness, and sharing.

I find it funny you used the word gamble, cause you just totally exemplified the fallacy of Pascal's Gambit (or Pascal's Wager). macstoogie #4-4 There will be no arguements nor sarcasm on this thread. Humor and respect is allowed I wasn't being sarcastic, or trying to incite an argument. I was merely pointing out a logical fallacy.

Gladly... 1. If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple. (Luke 14:26) 2. He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. (Matthew 10:37) 3. Think not that I am come to send peace on earth; I came not to send peace, but a sword. (Matthew 10:34) 4. I have come to cast fire upon the earth; and how I wish it were already kindled! (Luke 12:49) 5. Do you suppose that I came to grant peace on earth? I tell you, no, but rather division. (Luke 12:51) 6. Perhaps people think that I have come to cast peace upon the world. They do not know that I have come to cast conflicts upon the earth: fire, sword, war. (Gospel of Thomas)
