  1. David Brainerd was a Puritan of Puritans. Schooled in Calvinist theology, every word, thought and deed were all for the glory and majesty of God. Brainerd was a missionary sent to the Indians in Pennsylvania in the 17th century. Throughout his diary, which he was compelled to keep for his missionary board in Scotland, he not only battles against the old Adamic nature (something all Christians do on an hourly basis) but more regrettably for him, was how he never had mature Christian company/companions to help him reach the vast numbers of Indians, in numerous regions on the East coast of America, even though he travelled for five weeks (several hundred miles) searching for somebody to replace his solitary existence, which he lived with for two years: www.excatholicsforchrist.com/articles.php?PageURL=brainerd.htm
  2. At last, we now have this 6 hour debate online for all to view, with the following article covering the main bullet points: www.excatholicsforchrist.com/articles.php?PageURL=Karl%20Keating%20defender%20of%20the%20Catholic%20faith.htm
  3. Well may I add my take on this whole subject, if you
  4. My article proves that women were not the recipients of this gift, nor children either. The pronouns in the AV back this up.
  5. Please show me where in Acts this is stated? That may be so, but it doesn't prove they spoke in tongues.
  6. Acts 2 only has MEN speaking in tongues (vs. 8 and 13) will show you this. So those who were at penticost were only men...out of all that crowd there was not one female.... bible mentions only men when in referance to salvation.....so does that too mean no women can be saved....sorry your theory is well of. but then I dont believe in speaking in tongues anyway.
  7. I know this is a controversial subject (hence why I wrote on it), but my study into the NT, interestingly showed me that women did NOT receive this apostolic gift: http://www.excatholicsforchrist.com/articl...URL=tongues.htm
  8. When Dean Martin was dying, fear, guilt and shame gripped him. He often sent for the local Catholic priest to come and visit him at his mansion in L.A. When this "show-busy" priest arrived to comfort this blasphemer, all he could do was tell Dean all was good with God, and then start singing some of Dean's songs. This gave Martin no comfort at all, for he had lived a reprobate life yet he needed the forgiveness of God, but according to his daughter, Deana, he never had this assurance, only a singing priest, who was as worldly, if not more so, than old 'drunky Dean. This article deals with the endemic problem of blasphemy in the world of entertainment, which continues to spread like cancer: http://www.excatholicsforchrist.com/articl...tertainment.htm
  9. The death this week of General Pinochet cannot be allowed to pass without an examination of his working relationship with the Catholic Church. http://www.excatholicsforchrist.com/articl...RL=pinochet.htm
  10. Leonard, You need to get out of that Church (run if you can). My father and I left the R.C.C and have a website for people like you and those who need help to find the true Biblical Jesus (Rom. 10:1-4.) www.excatholicsforchrist.com
  11. 10 Quick Points 1. Verse 29: Believe He is the Christ in order to be saved (Rom. 10:9.) 2. Verse 41: Unbelieving Jews murmur because He claims to be deity, i.e., came down from Heaven and later on, some of them try to kill Him (John 10:32,33.) 3. Verse 47: Re-affirms faith in Him alone for Salvation (Acts 16:30,31.) 4. Verse 51: The metaphor of Him being the bread of life is synonymous with His flesh and work on the Cross, for it is faith in each of these things that saves a sinners, i.e., His flesh/body hung on the cross (1 Cor. 15:13, 14.) 5. Verse 60: The unbelieving Jews again complain about His requirements of them and others. 6. Verse 61: Jesus finally confronts their moaning, for up till now He has been testing them to see who would stay and who would remain. This is later portrayed when after a 3 year ministry in which tens of thousands have thronged Him and followed His every move, when push came to shove, they all fell away and only 120 were found to have lasted the course in the Upper Room. This is a picture of the very few who will be saved on Judgment Day (Matt. 7:13,14.) 7. Verse 63: Christ makes it crystal clear that His words are only SPIRITUAL, i.e., figurative - the Holy Spirit does the work of regeneration (1 Cor. 12:13; Eph. 4:4-6), NEVER human endeavours (Rom. 4:4; Eph. 2:8,9.) 8. Verse 66: Unbelieving Jews depart from Him, because they weren't prepared to be identified with Him in such a personal way. 9. Verse 68: Peter correctly understands that Jesus' words are eternal life, and that faith in His name warrants eternal life, not holy communion (Acts 4:12.) 10: Verse 70: Christ states He knows who are His and one of His chosen 12 is a devil. In Conclusion, the fact of the matter is whether a person believes in the hypothesis of the bread and wine changing into the literal body and blood of Christ, is immaterial. Because the Bible repeatedly teaches that faith in Jesus' death, burial and resurrection is what saves a man from Hell, not church attendance or other activities (Gal. 3:2,3.)
  12. I believe that those Roman Catholics who believe the Eucharist to be the literal body and blood of Christ, are suffering from a religious hallucination, and their belief is something they would not have come to themselves, but rather they have been indoctrinated into believing this dreadful and dangerous folly. www.excatholicsforchrist.com
  13. And the Catholic Church still curses anybody who believes what we believe. So much for the ecumenical movement!
  14. During my 15 years in the Catholic Church, it seems somewhat bizarre to me now to look back at the period and think that so many Catholics actually believe that Jesus Christ, the Almighty God, actually comes down from Heaven everyday throughout the world and allows people to eat Him alive. Not only is this sheer madness, but cannibalism is illegal in all civilised countries, yet nothing is said of this folly. I was only this past Saturday witnessing to a sweet elderly Catholic lady, and I asked her what she thought of the folly of Masses still being said for the late John Paul II, when the Church says he's in Heaven. I told her this is ridiculous, for if Christ died once to pay the price for sins, why then does the R.C.C still teach a need for a continued sacrifice? She didn't know and nor did I until started reading the Bible and Church history. If the Catholic Church made the mass a symbolic memorial (they still curse anybody who teaches this) they would be no different to the rest of Christendom, and most of their billions of pounds would dry up, for Catholics who are able to still pay for masse$ to be said for their dead! One of the first articles I wrote when leaving the Catholic Church was on the Eucharist, and I would welcome any feedback on my piece: http://www.excatholicsforchrist.com/articl...20Eucharist.htm
