  1. I would really like to make a further reply to this thread but one of the Watchman thought a previous post I made was not
  2. No doubt about that. Therefore we can treat them without any consideration of moral values, human life or dignity. Yes sir! Proud to be an American!
  3. Partly true. But Bush just vetoed a bill that would outlaw it and the CIA had used it. As late as November 2005, water boarding was on the CIA's list of approved "enhanced interrogation techniques" intended for use against high-value terror suspects.
  4. If this discussion was being held on a secular board I could understand some of the comments. But I assume most of the replies are by folks who consider themselves Christians. So wave the flag, sing Onward Christian Soldiers, and conduct yourselves like your hated enemies.
  5. How Stuff Works.com "Most CIA officials say water boarding is not torture, although many see it as a poor interrogation method because it scares the prisoner so much you can't trust anything he tells you. Senator John McCain, who was tortured as a POW during the Vietnam War, says water boarding is definitely a form of torture. Human rights groups agree unanimously that "simulated drowning," causing the prisoner to believe he is about to die, is undoubtedly a form of psychological torture. The international community recognizes "mock executions" as a form of torture, and many place water boarding in that category. In 1947, a Japanese soldier who used water boarding against a U.S. citizen during World War II was sentenced to 15 years in U.S. prison for committing a war crime."
  6. Well, you have convinced me. I have done something that is unique and unprecedented on Worthy Boards, I have changed my mind. Waterboarding is undoubtedly a useful technique in prisoner interrogation and should be resumed. Nebula has said,
  7. I have no doubt the enemy uses torture. The bad guy
  8. The article quoted the opinions of Gen. Petraeus, who mentioned two objections: The military
  9. I do not know if waterboarding is torture or not. I can assume it is not very pleasant. This is from todays's NY Times editorial by Steven Lee Myers: The Senate
  10. Neb, I guess this was directed toward me as it followed my post. I am not defending the guilty. I believe in just punishment for every crime. That is not the same as torture. This nation is on a downhill slope. Just for an example. We now make it legal to abort babies. Now it is legal to torture - no matter how mild. Euthanasia is not far behind. We have been depreciating the value of human life. Actually, I am against the bill. But my reason is that I am ashamed that such a bill actually had to be introduced.
  11. So how far do we go to collect information from a prisoner who we think may have information? Could any form or torture be justified by the simple statement,
  12. US Pledges near 150 Million Dollars to UNRWA The U.S. government pledge to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) has reached $148 million for 2008. This amount includes a total of $91 million ($40 million of which was announced in January) to UNRWA
  13. Mazra, I had said farewell (bye) but since you ask,
  14. One last remark and then bye The harlot says she is a queen and is no widow. Therefore there is a king! If your theory can't find the king I would suggest you re-examine your theory.
  15. Marza, Please explain how the last part of verse 7 in Revelation 18 fits with your belief that NY City is Mystery Babylon ...for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow. What does it mean that she truly believes she is a queen? A queen is married to the king. Who is the king?
  16. Yes, Mystery Babylon is the false church but... May I suggest that the woman in Revelation chapter 12 is Israel. The 12 stars with the sun and moon go back to the dreams of Joseph in Genesis thus identifying the woman. The child she brings forth is the Messiah. The dragon is, of course, Satan. Catholics say the woman is Mary but fail to explain, if Mary, how she is cursed with original sin (traveled in birth) as they claim otherwise. Many Christians think the woman is the Church but it was not the Church that brought forth Jesus, it was Jesus that founded His Church. No, my friends, the woman in Revelation 12 is Israel who brought forth the Messiah.
  17. The distinction seems to be that many see the suffering and think that the solution is stopping all hostilities. After all, this makes good sense. Stop killing each other and there will be peace. Israel should simply surrender Sinai (which they have done) and Gaza (which they have also done) the West Bank, Jerusalem and the Golan Heights and then the killing will stop and there will be peace. Only one little problem remains. This will not be enough to satisfy the Arab nations or the
  18. As Hamas continues to fire rockets, engage in terrorist actions and therefore bring down Israel retaliation on itself, I am reminded of an old Arabian proverb:
  19. Eichingen, Without going into a detailed history of the Israel-Palestinian conflict let me just address one statement you made: The question is whether or not Israel wants peace, not if the Palestinians do. That drives me to tears! When the State of Israel was created by the United Nations in 1947 and given statehood in 1948 the
  20. Elchingen, I repeat the first sentence of my post: Does anyone doubt that if Hamas in Gaza stopped firing rockets into Israel, acknowledged Israel
