  1. We had fun at the Iowa caucus last night. There was a huge turnout. It was just like the Des Moines Register says, long lines, way too few chairs, barely enough standing room. http://www.desmoinesregister.com/apps/pbcs...03047/1001/NEWS

There were some good three minute talks given for four of the candidates. There were a lot of young adults there participating. The first talk was given by a someone who is 17.5 years old. He did a good job.

Huckabee's support was overwhelmingly from the Christian conservatives. It was great to see so many turn out.

  2. I would love to have lived in in the 40's and 50's. .. It seemed like America's golden age. ...When brides wore white, and most could pull it off.

Not really. Their rate of fooling around wasn't that much different from today's. Gotta read the research.

The opportunities of African Americans are a lot better now. I remember segregated schooling and dining. That was awful.

As far as a time to live, I think now because of technological and medical advances and because this is the time God chose for us.

  3. Mansoor Ijaz wrote an interesting article on Bhutto. Here is a portion:

"I knew Benazir well. I am often blamed by her supporters for having helped bring her government down in 1996 by exposing her hypocrisy and corruption in two Wall Street Journal Op-Ed pieces. We remained in touch over the years after she went into exile, even developing a begrudging respect for each other over time. She struck me as a terribly conflicted person who deep in her heart wanted to save Pakistan from its evils, but was unable to put her personal lifestyle choices aside in doing so. But I firmly believe that she loved Pakistan, and for all her faults, had returned there this time to turn a new page in its troubled political history. We should remember her for her courage to stand up in the face of incalculable odds to bring some semblance of sanity to the disaster that Pakistan has become."

She was a courageous and intelligent woman.

  4. It is great that there are so many ways to give. What works for one person will be different from what works for someone else. A kind word can mean so much. Encouragement for young people can help get them get going in the right direction in life. Financial giving is great when it's done responsibly.

  5. Hi, TPB. You asked some good questions! Prayer is a great privilege, and also something we are called to do. The results are in God's hands... sometimes in people's hands depending on if they are obedient or not. When God's plans are thwarted, it's always temporary. Plus it makes it possible for something better to happen.

Consider the people of Israel in Egypt. They prayed for deliverance for centuries. When they were released from slavery, it was by acts of God that people are still amazed at. Exodus 3:7: "And the Lord said, 'I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows."

"In all their affliction He was afflicted, and the angel of His presence saved them; in His love and in His pity He redeemed them..." Isaiah 63:9

For a modern situation. Consider a person who prays for his or her spouse to be more kind and more responsible. Maybe those prayers aren't answered because the person is too stubborn hearted to listen to God. The Lord can use that time to develop patience in the hurting spouse. It would be best if the stubborn one changed... but until that happens, the Lord can use the time to work good things in those he or she is neglecting. (I am not saying it is always wise to stay in a bad situation.)

So don't lose heart about prayer. We don't understand everything about it, but God lovingly calls us to pray no matter what situation we're in.

  6. Have you talked with the sheriff about the truckers? :taped:

I'm glad God has been protecting you from accidents. When I was 20-21 God saved my life in similar ways three times. In one case it was very spooky. A water truck from the fire department got loose and was heading straight for my window where I was sewing. It went over a small fallen tree that caused it to change direction and not hit our house. Back then I was too stupid to give God the glory. You have the right attitude. Loving God and serving Him are the right responses!

  7. Arron, thanks for your posts. I can't imagine being in the situations you described, "Christian adoption agencies will have to give children into the care of homosexuals against their will and Christians in miistry will be expected to give their blessing on Civil Partnerships"

Such behavior, whether dictated by the government or not, is so reprehensible.
