I understand your point, but of course that's understanding Jim Jones' intention behind the question. My point was that nobody understood my intention behind my question, some may think they did, and that's obvious in their arguments before i stated my thesis. If we would just put down our personal agendas for one second, and stop, and listen, maybe you could understand me a little better so you can help me more. I know your agenda, and you know mine, so there's nothing else to do except stop and listen to each other from the very beginning, without arguing the conclusion.
-
In all honesty, I really hadn't thought of any other questions when i asked that one. Besides that, I never said i didn't have an agenda, i believe its impossible to ask a question without one. Simply because questions are asked in order to seek an answer. It just took you guys too long to fulfill the agenda, which was just a straight up answer. I really would have liked to ask further questions, but i never got to the point of pondering about one, because i was just so distracted by the dilly dallying around with just one simple one. So, i can see that its pointless to discuss any further. Are my questions satisfied, no, of course not. but what good is it, discussing questions with people that make assumptions in their answers that isn't even in the question. You guys were giving me a rebuttal in your answer without me even stating a thesis. I try my best to answer you straight up every time. i try not to jump to conclusions or make assumptions. I know i will never change your mind, and neither will you over mine, but these conversations sharpen me, and that's only reason that brings me here. i'm not looking for a fight, i'm looking for strength and wisdom. that's all.

I don't believe it took this long for someone to answer me with just a straight up, Yes. Instead for so long i got answers about how to make sure the Holy Spirit is talking to you, and if the holy spirit is telling you to give less than 10% then it's not the holy Spirit. This just goes to prove that it would take 10 years of posting conversations on this forum in order these debates to go anywhere. All i wanted was a simple, Yes, answer. It wasn't a trick question. The problem is, that you guys were trying to cover your bases and assumed too much about the cause of my question. How can you expect to discuss this reasonably without jumping to conclusions with your answer? I didn't even bring up a debatable question, and here you were debating it. There was nothing to debate about. it was just a yes, or no, answer. Thanks, Sierrra!

No, it doesn't. This is a simple yes, or no, question: If the Holy Spirit tells you what to give should you obey it?
-
This is not an answer to my question. I didn't ask how can you be sure the Holy Spirit is talking. So, i'll ask again: If the Holy Spirit tells you what to give should you obey it?
-
Obviously if the Holy Spirit tells you something to give it must be viable with scripture. This is not a hypothetical question or a hard one. If the Holy Spirit tells you what to give should you obey it?
-
It depends, the Holy Ghost will never tell you to do something against the teachings of Scripture. Scripture doesn't say anything about giving God less than 100%, so is it wrong for me to give what the Holy Spirit is telling me? Where does it say that? Our attitude should be that we would give everything. Our attitude should be that G-d owns all we have and He allows us to keep so much of it. But if you are walking in Him, and being obedient, I highly doubt G-d would tell you to give your mortgage payment to the church or make your kids go hungry because you gave away your last 20 bucks. Okay i agree, so is it wrong for me to give what the Holy Spirit is telling me?

Question for anyone: Do you believe its wrong for me to give what the Holy Spirit is telling me?

100%.It is impossible to give 100% of your increase and possessions. If you gave 100% you would not eat and you would wear no clothes. Am i right? Tithing is not not reiterated under the new COVENANT I'm not talking about new testament. God gave his children a new covenant. Matthew, Mark, Luke, & John are in the new testament but are still under the Old Covenant.
-
You're right Jesus came to fulfill our obligation to his former covenants. By the way i never said anything about any law being abolished. don't know why you brought that up? if giving 10% of our possessions and increase is the start place what's the end place? Tithing was not reiterated in the new covenant. Other than that i've always eluded as well that we should submit ourselves in every area to God including money.

The principles of the OT are found in the lessons not the assignments.

Please stay on focused here. Try not to be so offended. floatingaxe said he didn't trust God. This discussion won't go very far if I get hammered for saying the fruits of the Spirit's control is not mistrust in God. I know you wrote more about being filled with the spirit, but this ends my discussion about that.

Well, at least read the scripture that i gave in galatians that makes it clear that there were laws that were before moses that we are redeamed from. In other words laws that were only contained in the Mosaic law weren't the only ones that were abolished. I don't want to go into the definition of eternal/moral, civil, ritual, new covenant, old covenant, laws. I know that you agree and believe with your heart that 100% stewardship is an eternal principle. So, 10% giving isn't an eternal principle, and it isn't commanded in the new covenant - so what type of law is it? We both agree that all scripture is profitable (I believe the law of tithing is profitable even though i don't practice it, just like i don't practice animal sacrifices but deem the principles profitable) Murder is not a law without the principles of hatred. Stealing from God is not a law without the principles of stewardship.

Good response, but the point of being spirit filled is that of being Spirit filled and controlled, and last time i checked the Spirit of God isn't growing, maturing, or in a learning process. Don't give an excuse for floatingaxe for not trusting God. Last i checked we're required to be filled with the Spirit, regardless of our level of maturity.
