  1. Just for some interesting reading for people interested in this topic of Faith vs Science here is an article i found by Albert Einstein. The topics in this article are: Religion and science Part 1, 2, and 3 and Religion and Science... Irreconcilable http://www.sacred-texts.com/aor/einstein/einsci.htm
  2. "To believe in God or in a guiding force because someone tells you to is the height of stupidity. We are given senses to receive our information within. With our own eyes we see, and with our own skin we feel. With our intelligence, it is intended that we understand. But each person must puzzle it out for himself or herself."Sophy Burnham
  3. Haha I love this post. And i agree with you 100%! Mark Twain is funny and is awsome. He was a very intelligent man. And as far as your quote goes I love it to. I have noticed on this other Christian forum it seems like none of them use their intelligence. They just read something and went yep yep true true.. without even thinking about it. No offense to anyone on this site Im just saying that when I hear things from people I tend to think about them and see if they are really true before I will believe it. "Dont analyze my beliefs and I wont pick out the flaws in yours" "When I do good, I feel good; when I do bad, I feel bad. That's my religion." Abraham Lincoln
  4. God gave us Free Will and a mind of our own for a reason to choose what we want to. I believe I control what goes on in my life. I can put my self in situations and I can try to take myself out of them. God may have a plan or whatever you want to call it but again my example of a parent with their child. A parent can have a path they want their child to follow and yea the child could get to where the parent wants them to be. But that doesnt mean that the child follows everything that their parent wants them to as they go down that path. It may be the devil in me that gives me that un easy feeling in a church but I have had that feeling my whole life. Ive had alot of stuff happen to me in my life and there has been times where I questioned if God was even real or not. A persons beliefs in God and religion are due to experiences they have had in their life or they can just follow what other people tell them to. I personally think for myself and usually dont follow the crowd because I want to find things out on my own and make my own mistakes and learn from them. An as far as sin goes... I know I have done sins. Im not saying that I havent. Everyone does. We learn from things in our lives and then there are the people who are stupid and dont learn from their mistakes or their sins. Me not wanting to go to church is my decision. I dont feel welcomed cuz I dont believe in everything in the Christian Faith. People are not right about everything, that is impossible. No one is right all the time. Maybe in their own opinion they are but there is always someway to prove someone wrong.
  5. I personally dont like going to Church. One because I cant get myself up that early in the morning ( lol ). But also because there is just this feeling that comes over me like Im not welcome in any church what so ever. I went to church as a child thats how I met a few of my friends and my boyfriend and I just always had that same feeling and it has not gone away over time. I do agree that sometimes you do need a mentor to learn things or to help you figure things out but I think mostly its for you to decide what to believe and what you want to do. You cant have someone tell you what to do. Its like with a parent and their child. A parent tells you to do one thing and the child will do the complete opposite. Its all up to you what you do and believe.
  6. I do believe that God does have the power to heal people its just whether he feels its right for us or whatever reason he may have. But as far as what he does being better for us? Im not so sure about that. Im not sure because my mother just passed away about 7 months ago now from a few things during a liver transplant. Why did God take her and not someone else? Why did he have to make it hard on my family and on me? I cant answer those right now but the hardest part in life is finding out why things happen, whats the reasoning behind them. Thats what I think. But I do believe like I stated before God can heal people and he does have the decision not to.
  7. It is always comforting to know that there is someone for us to go to when there is something wrong. Talking about things usually helps alot of people. Other people need to do other things to cope with whatever happened. But no one can fix everything. There is no one on this planet that can fix everything that has happened to someone or themselves. If God could do that then why do we have things like world hunger, disease, why do people get sick. I can understand that things like that can be fixed an I understand that we need things like disease cuz then we would over populate. I agree with this... Cancer isn't something you get from kissing someone! Cancer happens when cells that are not normal grow and spread very fast. Normal body cells grow and divide and know to stop growing. Over time, they also die. Unlike these normal cells, cancer cells just continue to grow and divide out of control and don't die. We can not control that kind of stuff. We are born with that disease. And if God can fix everything like you are stating then why do people die of this disease and why do some not? My uncle just passed away two days ago due to Cancer of the Brain. Why couldn't God fix that and let him live? And if he were to have fixed it why did he?
  8. Those are words of someone who hasn't met the Saviour at all. Psalm 53:1 The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, and their ways are vile; there is no one who does good. Psalm 55:19 God, who is enthroned forever, will hear them and afflict them
