  1. I believe the phrase original sin doesnt really mean much, but I suppose it points to the first sin by Adam and Eve. It was the sin of Pride. Adam and Eve were tempted by Satan to eat the forbidden fruit because he told them it would make them as wise as God. It was that pride that caused them to fall. It was also pride that caused satan to fall from his original position in heavan. Coincidence? So I believe pride is the original sin. But because of Adam & Eves sin, God could no longer walk with them. Because God is completely good, and pure and holy. That means He hates sin. He cannot bare it. Ever since they sinned, there was a gap between humans and God. Because we have all sinned, we cant go to heavan. God needs to judge us because He is the perfect Judge that carries out pure justice. So we were all doomed hell. But... Then He sent His Son, Jesus. Jesus went to earth for one purpose. He filled in the gap between man and God caused by sin. When He was nailed to the cross, He took ALL our sins upon Himself, so that God could deliver justice and crush His own Son Jesus on our behalf. Thats why its important for us to accept Jesus as our saviour and what He has done for us, so that we may have eternal life in heavan. We must apply what He did on the cross by living according to His will, meditating daily on the bible, living by faith, and abandoning our fleshly sins and desires so that He may live through us and do things the right way. We're pretty weak. We all easily fall into temptation and sin. So thats sin in a nutshell, according to the bible. Theres quite a lot im skipping here. Hope that answers your question.
