  1. How do these videos portray Jesus? Don't you think you're taking these a little seriously? It's just a bit of a laugh. Satire is meant to be incisive. It was not designed to carry a deep and profound spiritual message, it was meant to point out the follies and foibles of those it targets. Perhaps that is why you don't like it.
  2. AMEN LEONARD!!!!!!!! What about the "vicious animals" in the US army? What about the things they do to innocents? Oh right, they're Americans; it's okay for them to do it. What a load of garbage. Not really. I have yet to see the kind of outrage towards US soldiers that I see shown towards Iraqi insurgents. And yet I'm the fool Forget it. You're obviously one of the vapid, "support our troops!" types. First, I never called you a fool, so point that in somebody elses direction, maybe you should doing a little soul searching before calling someone vapid. No little emote to try to pretend I'm kidding either. I wasn't kidding, nor was it my intent to seem like I was kidding, though I apologise if I took you up wrong. On that matter.

  4. what does this issue have to do with being a democracy? Israel is a sovereign nation, as such has the right to say who can or cannot stay in their country. The US deports people all the time for various reasons. Does that mean we are no longer a democracy? This situation is unfortunate and I disagree with the Israeli governmental department repsonsible for making this decision (please note that I did not indict the entire government or nation), but it is their right to make it. Ah, I see. When Israel does it, it's within its rights. I also don't see the US deporting people who preach a religious message.
  5. Yes. I still don't see anything wrong with these.
  6. Just watched them: hilarious. A wonderful parody of the mindset of some conservative Christians. There's some real gems in there, particularly: "And you? I forgot your name so you're off the hook...for now." No. Let's not get into the discussion of what constitutes a "real" Christian. Is this what churches in the USA are like? That man, I'm presuming he's what you call a pastor, looks so one-dimensional. He doesn't look as if he's in any way enjoying what he's going. I sincerely hope I'll never have to sit through one of these diatribes.

  8. So much for being the "sole democracy" in the Middle East...
  9. Students are still free to pray, if they wish. It is only right that a secular government does not favour any one religion over another. Ahem...I mean You mean their refusal to teach Creationism in science classes, right? Which they're right in doing. I have no problem with it being taught but only in a religion class.
  10. I've read the article before this and I still cannot believe it's happening. This is pointless bureaucracy at its worst.
  11. I'll gladly reserve that right, thanks. I understand. However it does seem to have gone inordinately far. I agree, though I will fight it tooth and nail. My comment was more reserved for the "Dhimorcat" and the reference to your sig. This kind of demonising of Muslims borders on conspiracy theory. Terrorism isn't something you can fight with bombs and bullets. It's the ideology you need to fight and you're going about that in entirely the wrong way. Western involvement in Middle Eastern politics has gotten you where you are today; what makes you think doing more of the same can do anything but exacerbate the problem? I realise my previous comment was provocative and I make no apologies for it.
  12. FREEDOM IS SLAVERY WAR IS PEACE IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH Honestly, your contribution is worthy of little more than that as a response.
  13. So much for "Land of the free..." No place on earth is truly a "land of the free." There are restrictions on all types of behavior, including in America. To not have certain restrictions would mean anarchy. I believe there needs to be certain limits to our freedom, and would be just fine with banning the worship of idol gods. I doubt such an amendment would ever pass, but I would support one. However in most Western nations, freedom of religious worship is taken to be a basic right. Unless you think that it's a crime to belong to another religion? Or that such a person would be on the same level as a criminal or anarchist. As well as that how would you establish if people were worshipping "idol gods"? A special 'Religious Purity' branch of the police or something?
  14. So much for "Land of the free..."
  15. This is a joke, isn't it? If it isn't then I'm afraid that America really must abandon the moral high-ground.
  16. I hate this phrase. Really, I do. Every time I hear it I recall a homily I once heard. The priest spoke about how some people tend to reduce a person - every complex facet of their personality - to a single sin, as if that is all they are. This phrase is pretentious in the extreme but more than that it's cowardly. It's seems a sad fact that Christians are always looking for some way, no matter how subtle or insidious, to criticise others; some take this as carte blanche to do just that. It provides all too easy a way to justify ones bigotry. For all the rhetoric of how loving a religion it is I often find myself looking at those who follow it and find them wanting. I realise how this must sound but I've been meaning to say these things for a long time.
  17. The bible is just as bloody. Have you ever read the Qu'ran? If not than your taking those out of context and they could be reffering to anything. From Deuteronomy 13: "13:6 If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers; 13:7 Namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you, nigh unto thee, or far off from thee, from the one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth; 13:8 Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him: 13:9 But thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people. 13:10 And thou shalt stone him with stones, that he die; because he hath sought to thrust thee away from the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage." Let the fun begin!
