Praise the Lord! This is exactly why we need more Jews in our gatherings. Sounds like an awesome church. Thanks for sharing. Do they have a website where I could have a look see? They have a website, I think it's www.sonofdavid.org... but the sight stinks (don't tell anyone I said that!) -Michael -
AFJ, These messianics are NUTS! But rather contagious!... yep... I've kind of began to understand this stuff now... Looking from the New Testiment back through the old testiment is kind of like looking down the wrong end of a telescope... It's facinating to go back and to become familiar enough with the Torah (Gen, Exo, Lev, Num, Duet) that when you read the New Testiment you realize that much of the new testiment is commentary on the Old Testiment (I would have called this heresy a few years ago)... But I will tell you this, when you see Jesus, as the fullfilment, the Jewish Messiah, you will be STUNNED BEYOND BELIEF How much greater Jesus is than you think he is today. All of what the NUTS are saying here REALLY does make a lot of sense, when you realized how JEWISH Jesus really is. AS FOR THE FEASTS... The feasts are a beautiful picture of Christ, and when you see and understand the feasts (Which there is no better way to understand them then to celebrate them) you will begin to see again how much GREATER Jesus is than you ever imagined... The other BIG shocker for me, was the fact that as I've understood the feasts, and the Torah better, I find I have a common ground with Jews, who actually understand Atonement, Sacrifice, the Scape Goat, The Lamb of God... But if your understanding is based soully on the New Testiment, I would strongly encourage you to become familiar with the Torah... Christ did not come to abolish the Law "Torah" (Teaching), but to fulfill it... how can we see Christ for who he really is (the fulfillment of the Torah) unless we are able to go back and understand it for ourselves... If you have not celebrated the Passover, plan to do it this Easter season... I've laughed about this for years, but I have gotten into so many arguments with my pastors over the years, because I always felt like Communion was WIERD... I kept asking WHY do we do this? What is the purpose, What is the meaning? I never got a good answer, UNTIL I sat through a Jewish Passover sedar... OOOOOHHHHH MANNNNNN.... COMMUNION IS ALL ABOUT THE FEAST OF PASSOVER! When Jesus came to "Abide" with us, the "ABIDE" is translated from Sukka which is to "TABERNACLE" with us... go to a feast of tabernacles sometimes and FIND OUT what Jesus was talking about... When Simeon took the baby Jesus in his arms, and said "TODAY I HAVE SEEN THE LORD'S SALVATION" it was NO COOENCIDENCE that it just happend to be on the "DAY OF THE GREAT SALVATION"... THESE FEAST were "to be an everlasting ordinance for you" says God... And the feasts are RIPE with pointers to Jesus himself... Forget legalism... that isn't even remotely what this is all about.... This is about knowing HIM to which the Law (Torah) and the Prophets spoke of! Blessings! MrClickBoy

What exactly is the Son of David Congregation? Sounds very lively! JesusIsGod, What exactly is Son of David Congregation? WOW... There's so much I can't answer! If I could crack my heart open and show you some of my dear brothers and sisters I would, but I'm confined to this silly keyboard! SODC is a Messianic Congregation in Rockville MD (an area filled with Jews) and lead by a Jewish believer named Scott Brown... you can call him a congregation leader, you could call him a wise man, you could call him a lover of men's souls, but I call him my friend! Scott is the leader of our congregation which has been a huge outreach to the Jews in the Rockville area, and about 1/2 of our congregation are Jews. My wife and I are gentiles and if I could have found a church closer to home with the kind of leadership, I would have been attending it... but we travel a little over one hour each Saturday to SODC, and I can not even begin to tell you how unbelievably bigger my understanding or our dear lord and savior is than I had EVER seen in a regular church... I've watched the process as Jews, who don't even want to beleive in Jesus (who's Hebrew name is "Yeshua") begin to see him... jumping out of the pages of their Torah... they begin to see him and they don't believe it... they can't believe it because all their lives they've known without a shadow of a doubt that Christianity was a gentile religion that usurped ideas from their sacred scriptures... WOW, when you see the light click on, when you hear them gasp as they see HIM, they see Yeshua, jumping out of the pages of their scriptures, and they DON'T know what to do, but they begin to follow... Ohhhhh... words just arn't enough... I'll have to leave it there for now... but SODC is just one of many wonderful places in this earth that Jews have a chance to come and see Yeshua, without feeling like a complete alien... Blessing bro!!!! -MrClickGoy -
Hey ServingHim, In the passage above, the townspoeple from Jesus hometown are deliberately trying to point out Jesus' commonness. In their eyes he is just like themselves, they're pointing out his dad, his mom and his brothers as evidence that he is nothing but one of them. That is *WHY* they couldn't accept him as a prophet (or more than that!) Re-read the section and look at THEIR motivation for what they're saying. They wouldn't be talking about his followers, they don't believe he's anyone important! It just really wouldn't make any sense whatsoever based on what they are saying... rather than deciding on your point of view and then walking into the passage, walk into the passage and let it speak to you... I've had to do this a lot over the years, and it works even though it often made me uncomfortable. Your interpretation of James and Joseph and Simon and Judas being anything other than brothers just doesn't fit with this passage. If it was only one passage you might be able to step over it, but there are many, already mentioned in this thread... Perhaps your just making this too difficult by trying to make it say something else... it's REALLY OBVIOUS to most of us here. I really appreciate your point of view, (even though I disagree) I have a close catholic friend named Paolo(I was just in his wedding). He and I often have these discussions, I love him a lot, but I just can't seem to get him to read the scriptures without seeing it through MARY colored sun glasses. But I must protest! ...for I am a PROTESTANT Blessing Bro! MrClickBoy One of the messages of my friend paolo when he talks of the importance of the pope, and the catholic church is that without their leadership we could come to too many different points of view... but the flip side is it is possible to be unified behind the wrong point of view. -Just a thought.

Ani, Thanks for the response. Yes, I'm attending Son of David congregation in Rockville, under the leadership of Scott Brown (whom I dearly love). I am not familiar with Abby Mount-Burke, but I'm getting to know more and more people in the congregation . Son Of David Congregation meets in the Halpine Church building (Halpine Road off of TwinBrook Parkway) every saturday at 10:00 am. Phone number for the congregation is 301.838.8612 If you come there, please PLEASE look me up. I'm often found in the Lobby with one of my three children crawling all over me. If you like, shoot me a personal message and I'll send you our contact information. As for Kevin Weinberg, who I'm praying for, PLEASE continue to pray... remember, we've been given the commission of charging the Gates of HELL and I checked the last chapter in the BOOK, and guess what.... WE WIN! Oh, by the way... Teresa (my wife) and I attended Beth Yeshua on New Years Eve, to see our buddy Ted (you may know him as YOD) play. Boy did we have a good time there that evening! Bless the Name Yeshua! -MrClickBoy -

Awesome, I wonder how we could get ahold of him... there are several good Messianic congregations in the area, (I attend one in Rockville) and I also wonder if some fo hte folks that just came from a Messianic Congregation in San Diego know him... I'll have to have to ask them... Great Post By the way... I had a great conversation over the weekend with a young Jewish guy named Kevin Wienberg... I was sharing with him many of the "pointers" to Yeshua in the Torah and Prophets... He was really getting it... He even made the reference to the Lamb Shank (as mentioned in the above article)... I shared with him many of the Jewish traditions that point to Yeshua as well... He was really amazed... The next day he avoided me like the plague... Please pray for Kevin! he's got a willing earful... I pray that he'll remember it! -MrClickBoy -
ScientificAtheist, Thank you for posting this information I graduated with an undergrade in Physics and didn't feel compelled to continue, and found more money in software dev (which is where I have stayed) I disagreed strongly with one comment about the "evidence" you gave as "beginner/intermediate" information. It's not. I tried to process it on my read through and frankly, I would have to spend a chunk of time, that I do not have, re-analyzing it. However, I do appreciate the time you took to share your evidence with me. But assuming your point is correct (about the radio active dating), then what? Is there more to your point? I'm not amazed, but I am amused, that we came to such different conclusions about Physics... for it was not an evangelist, but physics that led me to a belief in a god. Once I was convinced that there was too much order (built upon what appears to be chaos) I began to believe that something put this all together. That there was too much order. Nebula made a reference to the mathmatics being discovered (rather than invented) which I realized to be very true while I studied. It seemed that mathematics could describe almost *everything* in the *physical* world. Yet it couldn't explain anything else, and it couldn't explain the *why* things existed. As for evolution, that never panned out... I asked, and asked, but I couldn't find any evidence from my teachers... they always wanted to go back to evolution, even thought there was never any evidence of migration between species. A horse may get bigger, a giraffe might get taller, a sparrow might learn to eat something, but the evidence always pointed back to a horse, giraffe and a sparow. I pondered the human eye which required "parts" that did different jobs, certain nerves, certain lenses, etc... and the ability for the brain to process protons to information, to thoughts, to emotion... I came to the belief that the *WHAT* could be explained, but the *HOW* and especially the *WHY* couldn't. I'm not throwing up defenses here... I kind of like your reasonability... and I'm no genious, I'm learning. I not afraid of informaiton that apparently challenges my beliefs... I find it deepens most of them. Thanks Again, Clicky
