  1. Evangelist are much like entertainers. If you want people to listen, you must sing a different tune from everyone else. most people want to be worthy so a good evangelist plays on this and what better way than to help God. these Evangelist know everyone won't believe them but they know the uneducated will fall for it and make them very rich. Then again, there are some that REALLY believe what they are preaching. I'm not sure who is the scariest. This was a very good post
  2. I think we've all been there. Not fair to use part of a quote
  3. Right here ... God Bless you OneLight
  4. Then you must be ok with this. Didn't God tell them to have sex with those little kids? Well luckily, I dont think we serve the same God. That didn't answer the question. Would you be ok with a 13 year old marrying a 40 year old man? I'm not talking about FLDS.....just your normal everyday christian. What are your thoughts on that? Something finally struck me so I have to say this in regard to the original post I really find this question very odd coming from a fully mature christian well grounded in the word.I know all about people in the old testament having wives and concubines and dozzens of kids but jesus addressed that. Now was it you that said YOU would or could never marry again if divorced, yet you have no problem with multipule marriage. I find that odd for a fully mature Christian. I'm not saying you are not, just VERY ODD. YOu asked a legitimate question but one very sensitive to a fully mature Christian so you must have been prepared for a negative response but you are not scripturally prepared to defend your position and resist most attempts to answere your post. Have you asked your pastor or elders this same question and what was their response? If not, please do so and inform us of the results, i Would be most interested to hear back. Hi... I dont know who you are talking to... but I was wondering, who said they didnt have a problem with polygamy? (Can you show me a quote, I think i may have missed it...) I'm talking to you. so you do have a problem with multiple marriages? please straighten me out. is the line at the top of this page that asks what is wrong with multiple marriages and 15 year old getting married your or not and if not who asked it. maybe I have gone astray.

  6. Um, no, it doesnt. If my teenage daughter (15 or older) wanted to marry an older man and I felt that was what God was leading her to do, then I would sign a consent. Hypothetically. That does not make me FLDS. The only time I posted under Merins name, I said it was me. I am not doing any talking for him... his thoughts are his own. I know you will deny it but that is not what you said. You said if you were sure it was what god wanted you would agree whether you did or not. so if your pastor said that God told him your daughter was to marry his 40 year old brother then hyperthetically you would say yes. that hyperthetically makes you an FLDS believer. Hypethetically speaking, that is? IF GOD TOLD ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And you must not know what the FDLS believe, because its way more than that. Edited to add- I went back and read ALL of my posts and no where does it say what you said I said. Go read them. So, if God told me too, I would want what God wants. How would God tell you this?
  7. OK, I won't press the subject any further. So, is marrying off a 15 year old a big deal and polygomy a big deal? It all depends on societal acceptance, moral acceptance and culteral acceptance. In this country, yes it is a big deal. Individually in some cases it is not, such as your case. In this country you may think and believe what you please as long as you don't fulfill some of them. Let's be sure of the connotation of "marrying off" Willing in heart or obedience to anothers will. There is a huge difference between an insistant 15 year old who just loves this man and you give in and give consent, or if she threatens to run away if you don't and never come back as opposed to thrratening her with damnation if she doesn't marry him.

  9. Sorry I misunderstood! Actually, no, it's the age of consent that varies in different countries. Adulthood is a matter of physical and psychological maturity. I can cite many scientific studies which prove that children of the age of 15 do not have the psychological maturity required for understanding the complications of marriage and child-rearing. You're right... adulthood and age of consent are not the same. Nope, not Jewish, Muslim or any other eastern religion. My parents did not make any decision for me and no there was no family meeting. BUT my parents arent Christians either... so maybe there should have been. Umm, no. I dont like to share. I'm not Merin, but I dont think he would... at least his wife wouldnt. You said if you Thought God told you to marry off you young child that hyperthetically you would, so hyperthetically that makes you an FLDS
  10. Most all of our laws are based on Christian-Judeao ethics and teachings and a lot of roman and greek laws. the point on this post is the laws violated were established on the Judeao-Christian teachings
  11. That question was purely argumentatve and totally uncalled for Zipp it
  12. I am sorry that you leave so many open doors that some are not sure which door is yours and they are asking so they can find out
  13. Why don't you 2 stop using each others e-mail. It's very confusing
  14. A 40 year old man? Hypothetically, yes. I would never coerce my children to do anything. If God wanted her to do it, she would know. Hyperthetically you are an flds
  15. They turn a blind eye to it. They know it is practiced in certain areas, but they do nothing about it. It is still a part of their "scriptures" and doctrine, although they do not speak on it. They have not removed it, or renounced it and one would have to be curious as to why, because they have changed, altered and/or edited the B.O.M. many, many times since it first came out. The only reason that the LDS church, as a whole stopped the practice was so that they (Utah) could attain statehood. that's what I said, but it hasn't come up yet. If it weren't for the law..........
  16. Either you are VERY young in the Lord, don't read much or need a great deal of bible study to ask a question like that. are those the only choices? Probably not but they are probably all true
  17. ty sir i belive that you should only marry once and if your spouse dies you can marry again...if you divorce i belive to remarry would be adultry....or if you marry someone divorced sorry i am logged in under my wife lol...this is merin Now I see why merin and Hey There would get along so well
  18. Either you are VERY young in the Lord, don't read much or need a great deal of bible study to ask a question like that. That is an opinion, not a biblical verse showing a reason... Of course it is
  19. my daughters will marry who, when and how God tells us!!!! What do you mean by " when God tells US? Are you having a part in the decision? oh no I see where that could go....LOL of course I will be apart of the desition... Who better than their daddy? You and Hey There should get along great. I have a feeling that when it comes right down to it, baby girl will follow her own heart and not yours
  20. my daughters will marry who, when and how God tells us!!!! What do you mean by " when God tells US? Are you having a part in the decision? YES!!! Why wouldnt you have a say in who your children marry? Who's children disregard their parents opinion and marrys whoever they want?! That is nuts! Our children will be raised to respect our opinion... ARE you Jewish, Muslim, or any of the eastern religions. Did your parents make your decision for you or did you have a family meeting and she got the big O.K.?
  21. No I'm a disciple of Jesus Christ sorry I had to get ready for work. For how long? Would you tell me what you think Jesus' thoughts would be to bigamy, even discounting the age factor/ I have been "born again" since oct 14 1996 and I don't know what bigomy is sorry. For someone so up on the constitution I'm surprised you know polygomy and not bigamy. so my simple question is what would jesus' position be on a man having 2 wives or 3. not your opinion but use scripture to back it up. fair enough?
  22. maybe you arent conservative.... Your obviously new, I'm definately conservative. Yet, we could never abandon our boys, and if we had daughters, they would never be coerced into marrying a 40 yr old relative at the age of 14. In our house, there is no molestation, no incest, and no abandoning of children. Those are pretty important things. here's a couple of similarities for ya...homeschooled...no dating...no vaccinations....extremely modesty in dress and apparel...theres more... That's a stretch Merin
  23. Brandon, I would check history before making that statement. It was a very small group that Joseph started with and he had no problem taking other peoples wives no matter who they were. If you really believe there was no inbreeding you would be wrong by my studies.
  24. They can spin that yarn all they want and you can regurgitate all you like: Men 40+ marrying 13, 14 and 15 year old GIRLS is not about religion and beliefs. Religion and beliefs are smoke and mirrors to a man with justification for being a depraved pervert. These guys made this "religion" up, invented it, concocted it, imagined it and conceived it in their ENSLAVED minds for the purpose of feeding their flesh and the lusts thereof. You can spin this crap of "their beliefs" all you like, but it's a smoke and mirrors lie to shield and cover over simple fornication, lust and sexual wickedness. You may not be writing what you are looking for approval, but that doesn't make an expression of distaste by anyone here wrong simply because they think what you've written is a sick and perverted point of view. What appears to be true is that you are, yourself, feeding on the debate itself -- you on one side and others on the other. THIS is not Christ-like unless one side is truly sin: What those men have done to those girls is sexually perverted sin -- point blank. There's no excusing it. No "religious" belief that makes it "Ok" -- NONE! You are defending the indefensible, no matter what spin or point of view you put on it. What those men have done is not justifiable -- explainable perhaps -- but no where near justifiable, right, good, wholesome and so on. I agree with what this other person has said -- these young girls are not "breeding stock mares" to be "studded" to increase the "herd". We, they, us are people -- PEOPLE -- twisted, fallen, hurt, sinful and so on. Nothing about this can be condoned or otherwise justified. Again -- you are defending the indefensible. If were not for fear of the law coming down on them the whole church of LDS would be actively practicing polygomy and that is a fact because Merin is right that it is recognized by them to be the way to some celestial glory, However this was established by a deviant and perpetuated by his original followers. Now if a lie is told often enoughand no other story is told then the lie will become a truth to those that hear it. The most disgusting part is that our courts and government recognizes them as a religion and have certaian imunities and rights as such. It is true that many of these " families live in communities that most everyone is of the same belief so we don't get the complaint because they see nothing wrong with it. The only difference between FLDS and muslims is that muslims are limited to 4 and in this country they don't want the hassle so they obey the law. The other difference is they have NOOOOOOO value on the women and female children are not really wanted. ONe must study Islam to know and understand this. FLDS is the opposite. It is all about not sharing the wealth and if you knew more of the history of LDS you'd know that "It's all about me" They don't give a hoot about the wommen going to celestial glory.
  25. If this were true, there was no reason for Jesus to come and die." Some folks believe, and some folks won't, but the story still ends the same, whether you do or whether you don't" A quote from a song I heard. Pretty apt I thought. To See Him Is To Repent Then Job answered the LORD, and said, I know that thou canst do every thing, and that no thought can be withholden from thee. Who is he that hideth counsel without knowledge? therefore have I uttered that I understood not; things too wonderful for me, which I knew not. Hear, I beseech thee, and I will speak: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me. I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee. Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes. Job 42:1-6 And To Know He Lives For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: Job 19:25 And To Forever Cleave To Him For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 And To Praise The LORD Jesus The Christ The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand. He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. John 3:35-36 Amen! Be Blessed Beloved Of The KING The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel; and I will bless them. Numbers 6:24-27 Love, Your Brother Joe I like fresno, but that was a bit confusing. I got it, but it was quite a stretch for me.
