    Hi Good Fruit

I would certainly appreciate it if you would consider accusing me of "conforming to the world".....I have not ever questioned your heart or judged you in any way,you know very little about what I do or do not do ,I merely shared with you & everyone else my personal reasons for particpating in our church fall celebration party we have for the community each year ,as the REST of the world celebrates "All saints day".......surely,that is not a reason to speak that way to me or anyone else,,,,

I do & yes yes yes,,,,,,,with the Heart & Mind Of Christ Jesus my actions are pleasing & acceptable to the ONLY ONE in Whom I seek Approval.....for my deeds? No ,because I Love Him & He First Loved me......Just as He Loves me,I love my son and showed him how NOT to conform to this world but certainly showed him we can live IN it & grab every opportunity to be with THEM to spread the Gospel       Plus,I did share the tragic story of one who believed his actions were pleasing to our Heavenly Father as he forgot how to be a dad & love his own kids(imo)

My apologies to you Kwik.  I based my response off of your post and that is that is the way you came across as sounding.  Was never my intent to offend you or to come across as though I am judging you.  You made your point.  Sorry again.  I realize I am in the minority here so I'll try to be more careful to keep my opinions to myself.  Blessings.

Christ was not born on Dec 25, it is a day stolen from pagans.  We added Christ birth to it.  So, why can we not add Christ to halloween?

I understand that Christ was not born in December, some estimates are more like September.  It wasn't okay for the RCC to change the pagan holiday of Saturnalia into Christmas ("Easter" may actually have more roots in the celebration of Passover than pagan gods).  So my answer to your question is two wrongs don't make a right.  Just because something wrong has been done in history, are you saying that it's okay to repeat that wrong with a different pagan holiday and that God isn't going to mind?  Are you seriously condoning the celebration of a man-made holiday and trying to inject CHRIST into it to fit your human reasoning and perspective and justify it as being okay with God?

    Are you a Christian?  Seriously?

I do understand what you are saying & yes I do agree,to a degree-lol   I also agree with OotS...

But you see I think the reason is because the target audience is "children".....that is why I do what I do personally.....TV commercials, the stores advvertise ,the kids are all excited & preparing(well in advance_ and if it is just ignored then the Christian kids feel very 'left out".......& that opens a can of worms

I'll tell you about my cousin & his kids......My cousin was Born Again many many years ago, just after me....he was very excited as we all are & he became very extreme....he shut himself & his family out of the rest of the world in the most radical ways,he wouldn't visit my mom,who was like his 2nd mom (His Auntie,we are first cousins) because she had a TV,smoked cigarettes & had friends that were not Christians, etc,,,,he did not want to subject his children to that,he said.....he  banned them from TV,radio, public school & they were not to acknowledge any secular holidays or festivals.....they are evil, pagan etc.....   I was allowed to see them & I would visit from time to time and honestly,my heart would break whenever I saw these kids & my cousin.....we are IN the world & not of it,sure but we are IN it,,,,not out of it!!!!! Those kids were not permitted to do a thing & they always felt 'left out"...on the way to school or going food shopping they are not blind, they saw the decorations, kids laughing & having fun,,,they saw people living life .they saw kids being kids.....not them,.they were the Christians, the ones who were special,Gods children    Those kids grew up to resent God,they didnt know what it is to grow up with a big, warm, loving .close Italian family...who BTW,celebrated anything just to have a big  family get together with tables & tables of great food

My mom & dad, their moms & dads,me,my cousins.....we all grew up with Christmas & we all were taught it is the day to celebrate the birth of our LOrd jesus PLUS we had fun with everyone else......we all went trick or treating and for us it was simply fun before Thanksgiving, that's when you got your pumpkins & stuff to start preparing for November, that's all     My son went to public school & when all the other kids were telling each other what they were going to dress up as my son shared what he was going to be,,,YET,we were going to church,he had no clue that he was not a part of anything, never felt separate even though he was.....when he got older he told me he thought all the other kids were going to their churches,,,lol    Anyway, that ,I believe,is the reason we need to take back those days...for their sakes      Just my little 2 cents                          With love-in Christ,Kwik      (Easter too,we have 'Resurrection Day"....my kid thought all kids went to church Resurrection Sunday)

Hi Kwik, below is what Remnantrob posted in the Controversial subheading under a separate Halloween thread.  Something for you to think about and decide if you want to continue to conform to the ways of this world.  Blessings to you!

Participation in Halloween customs may seem innocent fun for children and adults, but it is one more way Satan can use to deceive people into thinking there is no harm in playing a little bit with the world of spirits and demons. Since many people no longer believe in the existence of a personal devil and his demons, they feel there is no harm in making fun of these “religious relics of the past.” The children are taught that there are no such beings as witches and evil spirits and that it is fun to dress up as ghosts or goblins. The modern denial of the existence of Satan and demonic forces is clearly contrary to Scripture. From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible affirms the existence of Satan and demonic spirit beings.  In the education of children, it is important that we do not plant false ideas in their minds. The Bible says, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it”(Proverbs 22:6) To teach them that there is no harm in imitating evil spirits is contrary to God’s will.

The above comment was written from a brother from my church and I couldn't have said it better.  When I was a kid I use to be jealous of the other kids being able to dress up and go out and get candy but now that I'm older I understand the reason for my parents firm stance and have used the same training for my kids.  It's not easy considering the entire US seems to celebrate this day but it's possible.  My plan is to try to give my children a history of what October 31st was originally known for (when Martin Luther nailed the 95 theses to the door of the Wittenberg Castle church).  I believe the devil hated that and has used Halloween to slowly and successfully take everyone's mind off of that event.  Interesting that next Halloween is the 500 year anniversary of that event.  Just my 2 cents.

Cannot the same be said for celebrating Christmas on Dec 25th?

Indeed and Easter too!  I personally don't decorate for Christmas - haven't for the past several years for my own reasons.   The difference with Christmas and "Easter" (Resurrection Day to me) is that there is an actual Christian connection - CHRIST's birth into the world and CHRIST's resurrection from the grave and victory over death!  There is no connection to CHRIST in Halloween, in fact it is the polar opposite.  Bottom line is there is no good argument for a Christian to celebrate the dead!  You can masquerade it all you want behind pretty pumpkins and pretty dress up clothes, and not wanting a child to feel "left out" but I am sure God Almighty does not find it amusing in the least.  There is another Halloween thread under the Controversial subheading that has a couple good comments from others (last I checked).

You can do as you personally choose to do in your life.  Are you asking yourself if what you are doing is pleasing to God?

    Hi Ezra!

I care not what day the Druids celebrated, I know Who creates each day, and He is greater than divination, occult, druid, or any other evil!  We need not fear evil, and if my grandkids eat a little candy on a day called Halloween, well I bet its the candy they think of, not druids!  I fear not Halloween, Christmas, Easter or any other day!  Many churches have their own celebrations and safe activities these days, and I say lets take back every day from any evil trying to claim a day God made!  Lets face it, Satan is in our face trying to scare us behind doors, lets all get out and reclaim each day as God has instructed us.  Did Jesus instruct everyone to be clean, holy, and perfect before He talked to them, or did He walk the filthy streets and heal the sick and touch the lepers?  One can have a false holiness about him and miss the second greatest commandment.  The druids may have entertained evil on a certain day, but the druids do not own Halloween!

I think you are missing the mark with your comments.  Why not just treat it like an average typical day then rather than trying to turn it into a Christian day to celebrate something that isn’t Christian?  If a church wants to have a fall festival then why don’t they do it on a different day?  Like the weekend before or after Halloween?  You make it sound like the unbelievers hijacked the day from God and Christians have to take it back from them and make it a Christian celebration.  Why are Christians choosing to celebrate on that particular day in the first place if it means nothing to them and it’s all just silly fun and games?  By participating in the celebration in a “Christianized” way you are still acknowledging that October 31st has some kind of special significance.  You are debunking your entire theory of “taking back from evil a day God made” by making it more special than every single other day He’s made.  To Christians it should just be another day on the calendar.

I respectfully must say, to come to the 'new wine', i.e., God's Truth in His Word full strength, one must decide who they are gonna' listen to, men's traditions, or God in His Word as written. Their statement, "According to these clear passages of Scripture we reject the whole of Millennialism, since it not only contradicts Scripture, ... ", is simply an attempt to follow a tradition of man, because Scripture is explicit about a literal 1,000 years reign by our Lord Jesus, with His elect priests and kings, on earth (Rev.5:10; Zech.14; Rev.20; Ps.2).

I agree, I personally do believe in a literal 1,000 year reign of Christ, despite what the denomination I was raised in says (and one of the reasons I now regularly attend a Bible church).

This is why my original question was asking for anyone here at Worthy who does not believe in the Millennium (Amillennial) to "attempt" to explain their reasoning for that belief.  Not getting at bites so that tells me a lot.  It's not a very popular belief.

I've had a variation of this before - it is heavenly! Avocado has such a nice creamy consistency, and it lends itself to all types of recipes like this.  I had this once with mint in it too, and that was delicious.

That sounds awesome, I love chocolate mint.  I never thought about combining flavors.  You just gave me several ideas.  Thank You!

  9. This is a must try recipe.  I make it all the time and you would never know it is made with avocado.  Seriously!!  I have fooled several people who had no clue!

    THIS IS DELICIOUS!!!

    Ingredients:

1 perfectly ripe Hass avocado (not too soft or overripe)

1/3 cup of lowfat milk or unsweetened almond milk (unflavored)

    1 tsp. vanilla extract

4 Tbsp. baking cocoa powder (do not use the extra dark type)

3-4 Tbsp. Agave nectar (to taste) [or 1/4-1/3 cup sugar substitute (Splenda?) or real sugar if you prefer]

Peel and pit avocado; cut into pieces and place into a food processor or high quality blender.  Add all remaining ingredients and process for 2-3 minutes until smooth and creamy, and pudding consistency.  Scrape sides of processor bowl and process again.  Refrigerate until chilled.  Yield: approximately 1 1/2 cups.

My notes:  I have great success with my Ninja processor and have also used my Magic Bullet too.  If using real sugar, it needs to be dissolved in a very small amount of hot water so it is not grainy.  Recipe can be easily doubled, I do it all the time.

Studying Bible prophesy I came across a strange prophesy pertaining to Egypt yet to be fulfilled, Ezekiel, Chapter 29. It's self evident this prophesy has yet to be fulfilled, contrary to what my Bible commentary says. I'd like to here your opinions and eschatology on this end-time event.

    Hi Dennis,

Regarding the scripture you are referring to, I do believe this has been fulfilled.  I am in the process of doing a verse by verse study of Ezekiel but I haven't gotten that far yet so I had to jump ahead and read what it says.  Since I can't repeat the whole topic word-for-word, the condensed version according to the study I am reading from (Shepherd's Notes) says that the prophecy was fulfilled in 570 B.C. when Pharaoh Hophra was defeated by the Greeks of Cyrene.  At that time,  Amasis also led an army revolt against Hophra, who was killed.  Amasis then proclaimed himself king.    (verses 13-16) At the end of Egypt's 40 year subjugation, the Egyptian nation would be restored to Pathros, in southern Egypt, where the nation had its beginnings.  The 40 year subjugation probably refers to Nebuchadnezzar's subjugation of Egypt when he attacked in 568 B.C.  It goes on to indicate that the Egyptians may have been taken captive by Nebuchadnezzar into Babylon and then later allowed to return under Cyrus's decree.  Henceforth, Egypt would be a lowly kingdom unable to lead other nations astray.  This prophecy has been fulfilled in the more than 2,000 years since; in all its subsequent years, Egypt has never again regained its former grandeur.

I have also done a verse by verse study on Isaiah also and this is something for you to consider.  Isaiah 19:18-24 says that in the future when Christ reigns on earth, Egypt will acknowledge God the Father and will be blessed, along with Assyria.  They will become one with Israel.  This is a future prophecy that is yet to be fulfilled.  See below.  "In that day" refers to the future when Christ rules in the Millennium.

    Egypt, Assyria, and Israel Blessed

18 In that day five cities in the land of Egypt will speak the language of Canaan and swear by the Lord of hosts; one will be called the City of Destruction.[d]

19 In that day there will be an altar to the Lord in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar to the Lord at its border. 20 And it will be for a sign and for a witness to the Lord of hosts in the land of Egypt; for they will cry to the Lord because of the oppressors, and He will send them a Savior and a Mighty One, and He will deliver them. 21 Then the Lord will be known to Egypt, and the Egyptians will know the Lord in that day, and will make sacrifice and offering; yes, they will make a vow to the Lord and perform it. 22 And the Lord will strike Egypt, He will strike and heal it; they will return to the Lord, and He will be entreated by them and heal them.

23 In that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria, and the Assyrian will come into Egypt and the Egyptian into Assyria, and the Egyptians will serve with the Assyrians.

24 In that day Israel will be one of three with Egypt and Assyria—a blessing in the midst of the land, 25 whom the Lord of hosts shall bless, saying, “Blessed is Egypt My people, and Assyria the work of My hands, and Israel My inheritance.”         Isaiah 19:18-24 NKJV

  11. Okay, back to the OP, when I first read about this in the news my initial thought was...who the heck gets a retirement cake from Walmart?  It's not delicious (or classy IMO) and a mom & pop bakery would certainly be more fitting for a special celebration.  If you're gonna cut corners to save money don't do it with the cake for goodness sake!!  :cake:

Absolutely. I can't remember the exact events that took place, it may have had something to do with Israel, but they were biggies and within three days of those events we had Katrina, Washington D.C. shake from an earthquake, New York City and other places flooded and hammered by a hurricane. I'm sure there are many more I can't recall at the moment. I just recall the timing of these events occurred exceptionally close to something the government passed or did that was against God's Word. If I recall correctly, I think New Orleans held some sort of official abomination or something a day or two before Katrina hit?

It's sad the deception the secular / atheist world is putting forth that all this weather phenomenon is caused by global warming. They are correct on one aspect though, things are heating up and are going to get hotter.

  13. This was just in the news this week!  A baby was born with the DNA of three people!

First-ever baby born with DNA from 3 people

A controversial technique that uses DNA from three parents has resulted in the first-ever birth of a child, a team of American scientists in Mexico confirmed Tuesday.

The technology allows parents with rare genetic mutations to have healthy babies and, while not approved in the United States, is legal in the United Kingdom.

New Scientist reported that the baby, a boy, was born five months ago to Jordanian parents. The child was at risk of inheriting a severe neurological disorder called Leigh syndrome, which typically kills individuals within a few years of birth.

In using DNA from three individuals, researchers were able to remove some of the mother’s DNA from an egg and leave out the disease-causing DNA. The healthy DNA was slipped into a donor’s egg, which was then fertilized. Thus, the child inherited DNA from his two parents and the egg donor.

Indeed, I don't follow the biased liberal main stream media like the Communist News Network (CNN) either. It drives me nuts when the wife has CNN on watching the presidential debate and political stuff, Fox News is not much better either. I try to get the majority of my world news from Matt Drudge, and mostly Christian websites. Not to say I don't watch the local major news channels for the opinion shaping commentary instead of non bias reporting of facts.

Fox News is becoming liberal ever since the owner's liberal left-leaning sons took over leadership.  Eventually entire media will be controlled by the ultra-elites.  All part of the plan.

I usually get my real news from a Christian site called Rapture Ready, they have a daily news section where they gather news reports from several different sources.  I also like to go to Prophecy News Watch, another great site that has very informative articles (not so much daily news stories) regarding factual events in the world without adding a conspiracy theory twist to it.   Of course there is always Worthy News too!

My opinion is like yours, I'm of the opinion God is with holding His full national wrath on America because of our historical national support for Israel and the Jews. Now with the past few presidents and government trying to divide the land God covenanted to Abraham, and divide it into two nation states, I don't think God is very pleased. I'm guessing another part of His long suffering, delaying His wrath on America is our restraining Christians and churches maybe. But that's just conjecture on my part.

I personally believe that a lot of the natural disasters we encounter in America are a direct result of our interference with Israel and the "land for peace" and "two-state solution" our leaders are always promoting.  There certainly is proven evidence of some of our worst hurricanes taking place around the time we were messing in Israel's affairs.  I have heard some people say that they believe when (not if) America's politicians are successful in dividing the land of Israel, that our country is going to be split in half by an earthquake.  Not unreasonable to think considering the rash of odd earthquakes all over the nation we have been experiencing the past couple of years.  It's only a matter of time.  But that could be wrong.  Not saying I think this for sure but it is a plausible thought.  One of those things that makes you go "hmmmm." :39:

Among other things, other dangers we face is the replacement theology and "works / giving" theology that seems to be sweeping through our churches. The church 'has not' replaced Israel because the Jew's rejected Christ. The Lord is not finished with Israel as is clearly outlined throughout scripture and in my opinion, is the sole purpose for the tribulation.

I'm getting worked up on the direction our nation is taking so I better get off my soapbox before I start ranting :-)

I have thought for several years now that history is repeating itself and as we progress towards the end of time we are going back and re-living the OT times only in modern day.  America looks and acts very much the way Israel did in the OT times.  It's like it's happening all over again only in a modern society.  Not sure if you get my drift.  Hard to explain it in words.

With the US government and personal debt in the 'Trillions', it would be impossible to ever pay off that debt. We are a 'debt based economy' meaning, we measure, grow and prosper by spending and accumulating ever expanding debt. We are insolvent and our debt is far beyond sustainable and is being propped up. Soon this house of cards has to tumble.

I'm totally surprised the US dollar remains the world's reserve currency. To quote one of my favorite phrases, "the handwriting is on the wall".  We have recently seen how fragile this currency system is and the disparity between currencies. Everyone should know the agenda that the world's elite and banking systems want to level the playing field.

The worlds current system of currency and paper transactions will come to an end very soon. How many people do you know that get their pay checks, retirement, social security, tax refunds, etc. by check anymore? In my opinion, the world economy will crash in the foreseeable future and be replaced with a cashless electronic debit / credit system. And then guess what follows.

A good read on how our banking system was developed and how it works, the creation of the Federal Reserve and the world banking system is, "The Creature from Jekyll Island", by G. Edward Griffin, 600 pages.

Why work by the sweat of your brow when you can make a living fleecing the wealth of working productive people with banking Ponzi schemes, creating money out of thin air, loaning that formally non existent money and charging hefty interest rates and penalties on what was created out of thin air.

Hi Dennis, good to see someone here who pays attention to what's happening in the world and has a keen perception of it all.  Not saying that others here don't have a clue, just doesn't seem to be a well spoken of topic.  I'm always reading between the lines and paying attention to the players on the world stage.  I don't pay much attention to the fantasy of the main stream media, but keep up on real world events through other avenues.

It simply fascinates me the biblical implications and prophecies that are coming together at lightning speed.

In my opinion I personally believe that the only thing holding America together at this point (other than the grace of God) is the true Jews that are still in our nation.  I have been watching the progress of the mass migration of Jews to their homeland as prophesied (aliyah) and many, many nations have seen a mass exodus of Jews thus far, with the exception of America.  I think God is holding back His judgment on our nation to protect His people until it's time for them to go home to Israel.  I believe they are the key and when the anti-Semitism in our country starts kicking into full gear and driving the Jewish people to Israel is when we really need to be prepared for things to come crashing down.

Soros is definitely 'anti' in everything I support and believe in. Whether he is going to have a major connection to prophesy remains to be seen.

Not to change the topic of this thread but... We know (or should) the anti-Christ can't be identified until he signs a seven year deal affirming a covenant with Israel, correct? I've found nowhere in scripture where it says or suggests we can not figure out who the "False Prophet" might be ahead of time. Anyone concur with that? Which leads me too...

Anyone familiar with the seven hundred year old "Saint Malachy prophesy of the Popes"? Historically and thus far it appears to have been 100% accurate. If [and that's a big IF] it is correct, we're on the threshold with one foot stepping in.

I would tend to agree with you on that.  I personally believe that the False Prophet is going to a Pope, whether it's the current pope or not remains to be seen, but he sure does spew some very anti-Christian rubbish.

I am familiar with the St. Malachy prophecy, I've read up on it.  Don't have an opinion one way or another about it.  I just stick to what God's Word says and try not to get all wrapped up in historical writings that can't be verified.

  18. I've been keeping an eye on Soros for a few years now.  I believe he is definitely "part of the plan" whether inspired by Satan or God Himself remains to be seen.  God is in control of all things and it is not beyond Him to use evil people according to His will and His Glory!

  19. Oh it gets better!  Read what the Lutheran church believes about the Antichrist.  Seriously?!  This is just crazy thinking!! :o

    Of the Antichrist

    43. As to the Antichrist we teach that the prophecies of the Holy Scriptures concerning the

Antichrist, 2 Thess. 2:3‐12; 1 John 2:18, have been fulfilled in the Pope of Rome and his

dominion. All the features of the Antichrist as drawn in these prophecies, including the most

abominable and horrible ones, for example, that the Antichrist "as God sitteth in the temple of

God," 2 Thess. 2:4; that he anathematizes the very heart of the Gospel of Christ, that is, the

doctrine of the forgiveness of sins by grace alone, for Christ's sake alone, through faith alone,

without any merit or worthiness in man (Rom. 3:20‐28; Gal. 2:16); that he recognizes only

those as members of the Christian Church who bow to his authority; and that, like a deluge, he

had inundated the whole Church with his antichristian doctrines till God revealed him through

the Reformation ‐‐ these very features are the outstanding characteristics of the Papacy. (Cf.

    Smalcald Articles, Triglot, p. 515, Paragraphs 39‐41; p. 401, Paragraph 45; M. pp. 336, 258.)

Hence we subscribe to the statement of our Confessions that the Pope is "the very Antichrist."

    18 hours ago, Ezra said:

Lutherans came out of the Catholic Church, and Martin Luther's primary focus was on the Gospel, and justification by grace through faith. The Reformers did not question or challenge the eschatology which began with Augustine, who believed that he was already in the Millennium. Many of the Reformed Churches are Amillennial for this reason.

What people need to ask themselves is "If there is no literal Millennium, then why is it mentioned six times within seven verses in Revelation 20?" The Greek term is chilia ete (which has given rise to the term Chiliaism), and that means "a thousand years".

1And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.

2And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,

3And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

4And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

5But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.

6Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

7And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,

The binding and loosing of Satan is the key to understanding the Millennium. Peter said that Satan walks about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. There has not been a single period in history thus far that Satan has not been active on this earth (along with his evil spirits).  Therefore it is impossible that the Millennium has ever occurred, since that would be a period of perfect peace and righteousness on this earth.  This is only possible after the Second Coming of Christ. Therefore the Amillennialists believe in a fantasy.

Hi Ezra, I am well aware of the history of the Lutheran church.  They remind us every October 31st with a special service to celebrate the Reformation.  I've been attending those since I was born....a half a century ago.  Once I got out parochial grade school, I put my Luther's small catechism on a shelf and haven't looked at it in the last 40 years.  I really never questioned it after that and I didn't follow Christ in my early adult life so it didn't matter to me at that time.  It just recently crossed my mind that I don't even know what the LC's official stance on the end times is and that is when I decided to look into it.

There are so many things that they don't have an explanation for and I don't understand why more people of that denomination don't even question it.  I wouldn't have myself if I hadn't sought Christ on my own did my own eschatology studies.  Very sad so many people haven't got a clue.

I was a member of the Missouri synod Lutheran Church for 25 years. They believe much like the Catholic Religion that there is not a literal 1000 year millennium. I had even talked to a Pastor about it once and he got very mad at me even bring it up. I left the Lutheran Church. I did not grow as a Christian in the Church. I believe there are several on Worthy who are amillennial.

And this is the very reason I asked the question here.  I know that talking to a Lutheran pastor is like hitting a brick wall.  I tried once a long time ago, but he talked in circles and gave me a book to read...which I never did.  He never got mad at me though.
