Apples and oranges. Technological advancements in one area does not necessarily mean advancement in other areas. You comparing physics to biology. Two entirely different subjects. The last 100 years have seen many wonderful medical advances, which, of course, includes the development of vaccines. But we are still very far from being able to resolve every medical problem. And, while I'm not a doctor, and so unable to say this absolutely, there are still many complications at birth that we are unable to solve. Some will probably never be completely solved.
