Something that the Lord put on my heart to share with my brothers in Christ, because it’s of great importance and concern to Him.

THE ROOM OF PICTURES

(Deliverance from pornography.)

Then He said to me, “Son of man, have you seen what the elders of the house of Israel are doing in the dark, each in his room of pictures? For they say, ‘The LORD does not see us, the LORD has forsaken the land.’” (EZEKIEL 8:12)

That verse may be referring to idolatry, but there is an equally grave and grievous secret sin taking place in the Church today---every man in his “room of pictures”. That sin is pornography. And just as the secret idolatry of the men of Israel was not hidden from God’s sight, neither is this. Those who are engaging in this sin are forcing our holy Lord to watch what they are watching.

There is an unfortunate lie/false teaching circulating in Christianity today that “true” Christians don’t sin, or that they always repent of their sins when they do; and if they don’t do this---or if they keep falling into the same sin again and again---they must not be saved; they must be “fake Christians”. That false teaching certainly isn’t helpful to the many true Christian brothers who are addicted to pornography (including pastors.)

God knows whether His Spirit lives in a person, (as each of us should know about ourselves): That is what determines whether a Christian is a true Christian or a fake one---not being in bondage to a particular sin. If a Christian is in bondage to a sin, it is probably because he (or she)

1)      Is making poor choices

and/or

2)      Has a demon. (That doesn’t mean the person is demon possessed, but that God is allowing a demon to attack and overcome the person because what that person is doing is not pleasing to Him.)

So, if you’re one of the many Christian brothers who is secretly indulging in pornography or addicted to it, please take this advice:

God does not selectively deliver us from known sins. If there are other things in your life that you know the Lord would have you to do or not be doing, and if you’re not keeping the commandments of the New Testament that you know (ignoring them, or trying to change them somehow because you don’t like them or want to do them, even though you know what they say), don’t expect God to answer your prayer for deliverance from pornography, if you’re not willing to bring the other sins to Him as well.

You either bring everything you know about to Him, or just wait until you’re ready to do so; because He’s not going to set you free from the sin you want to be set free from and let you keep others behind your back: Covetousness, deceit, jealousy, unforgiveness, pride, malice, incontinence---or whatever it may be.

(And the longer you stay in a known sin, the more will accumulate in your life. It will only get worse for you.)

But if you are genuinely penitent, and you bring the Lord everything you know, and wholeheartedly commit to do whatever it is He wants you to do, no matter what the cost, He will answer you and set you free.

The Lord be with you.

But He gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded…Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will exalt you.” (JAMES 4:8,10 ESV)

“Nothing is covered up that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known.” (Luke 12:2 ESV)

“And if your hand or your foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life crippled or lame than with two hands or two feet to be thrown into the eternal fire.” (MATTHEW 18:8 ESV)

For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death. (2 CORINTHIANS 7:10 ESV)
