Does anyone know the difference between a sin sacrifice and guilt sacrifice? Also, can anyone tell me why the "fat portions" of a sacrifice were so important in the burnt offerings? Anybody with a Hebrew/Jewish background?
Guest shiloh357
The sin offering dealt with things that were done uninentionally that violated the commands, things done out of ignorance. This would apply to those who perhaps were not as familiar with the commandments, especially children. The guilt offering was for those who had defiled themselves by touching that which was unclean, or who has sworn a false oath. As for the fat... the fat represents the best. It was the best part of the offering, and had the sweetest aroma. The animals to be offered to the Lord were to be the healthiest and fattest of the heard or flock. It represents Christ, that God offered His best for us on the cross. Just as the fat was a sweet smelling savor. And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savor. Thanks, Shiloh! Man, I appreciate that...that helps me a lot. I was getting so confused. I've been studying Numbers and some of Leviticus and I haven't been able to distinguish between these things or make sense of these rituals. The NT reference to Christ brings it all together. Thanks tons, bruh! \ Cats
