Helene Fischer - Tochter Zion / Daughter of Zion (sung by Helene Fischer)

(In English, the tune is more often known as the one used for 'Thine is the Glory, Risen, Conqu'ring Son', from Handel's Judas Maccabaeus.)

(German and English lyrics: )

Tochter Zion, freue dich!
Jauchze laut, Jerusalem!
Sieh, dein König kommt zu dir,
Ja, er kommt, der Friedefürst.
Tochter Zion, freue dich!
Jauchze laut, Jerusalem!

Hosianna, Davids Sohn,
Sei gesegnet deinem Volk!
Gründe nun dein ewges Reich,
Hosianna in der Höh!
Hosianna, Davids Sohn,
Sei gesegnet deinem Volk!

Hosianna, Davids Sohn,
Sei gegrüßet, König mild!
Ewig steht dein Friedensthron,
Du des ewgen Vaters Kind.
Hosianna, Davids Sohn,
Sei gegrüßet, König mild!

Daughter of Zion, rejoice!
Cheer loudly, O Jerusalem!
Behold, your King comes to you,
Yea, he is the Prince of Peace.
Daughter of Zion, Rejoice!
Cheer loudly, O Jerusalem!

Hosanna to the Son of David,
Blessed be thy people!
Thy eternal Kingdom comes,
Hosanna in the Highest!
Hosanna to the Son of David,
Blessed be thy people!

Hosanna to the Son of David,
Be welcome, gentle King!
Peace is your Throne forever,
You, the Father's only Son.
Hosanna to the Son of David,
Be welcome, gentle King!

The above rendering of 'Thine be the glory, risen, conqu'ring Son" in German is frankly the finest I have ever heard.

When one thinks of the venue of this recording also being the Vienna Hofburg, and the fact that the late Chancellor Helmut Schmidt chose it to be sung when he and Germans were mourning Frau Loki Schmidt, it is truly stirring for its doctrinal and historical associations.
