Hebrews 12:11 No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful.

Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace

for those who have been trained by it.

It is in this knowledge that we find great joy.

When you direct quote a specific place in the word of God; such as when you say Hebrews 12:11 in this post, I ask that you please handle the word of the living God with full transparency (trust me, the truth is not something you want to be found guilty of suppressing)

To provide Hebrews 12:11 in its entirety, it states,
"All discipline for the moment seems not to be joyful, but sorrowful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterwards it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness"

the key word there is fruit

the fruit of righteousness

This is a fruit of the spirit

Of what spirit? The spirit of Christ

Those who are in Christ will bear the fruit of righteousness; you will know them by their fruit.

Just a different translation. You can use BLB.org or Bible gateway for side by side comparison.

James 3:18 Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

@AnnaGrace

Hebrews 12:11

NKJV Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

NIV 11 No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.

Normally, I quote from the NKJV, but on this occasion, I chose NIV because of:

Hebrews 7:2 to whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all, first being translated “king of righteousness,” and then also king of Salem, meaning “king of peace,”

and I liked the expression "A Harvest of Righteousness and Peace", which I used as the title of the thread.
