(Worthy News) – A new report by the Institute for Science and International Security (ISIS) raises serious concerns about Iran’s ability to build a nuclear bomb, marking a significant escalation by assigning its highest warning level, “Extreme Danger,” for the first time since it started monitoring Iran’s nuclear activities in the 1990s.

The report highlights a significant escalation in the risk associated with Iran’s nuclear program since May 2023.

According to the report, since 2022, Iran’s ‘breakout’ time—the period needed to acquire enough highly enriched uranium (HEU) for a nuclear bomb—has effectively dropped to zero.

This means Iran currently possesses sufficient HEU to create a nuclear explosive potentially. However, acquiring uranium, while being the most challenging aspect of developing a nuclear weapon, is not the sole requirement.

The report also notes that should Iran decide to increase the enrichment level of its 60 percent enriched uranium to 90 percent, which is considered weapon-grade uranium (WGU), it could achieve this swiftly.

The report details how the IAEA, since November 2023, has not been able to carry out inspections.

“It has been two years and nine months since Iran ceased its provisional application of the Additional Protocol, during which time it has not submitted updated declarations, nor has the Agency been able to carry out complementary access to sites and locations within Iran.”

The report details how the IAEA is now unable to perform daily inspections of Iran’s enrichment facilities. Additionally, it has been denied access to data from online enrichment monitors, electronic seals, and the records from measurement devices that have been installed.

“[Iran] can break out and produce enough weapon-grade enriched uranium for a nuclear weapon in a week,” the report says, “using only a fraction of its 60 percent enriched uranium. This breakout could be difficult for inspectors to detect promptly if Iran took steps to delay inspectors’ access.”

The warning grows even more dire with the assertion that Iran “could have in total enough weapon-grade uranium for six weapons in one month, and after five months of producing weapon-grade uranium, it could have enough for twelve.”

Critics of the Iranian regime have been warning for years of Iran’s intentions of developing nuclear weapons, despite Iranian claims publicly that it is only for peaceful purposes. However, the credibility of these denials is eroded by the persistent calls from Iranian leaders for the “Death of Israel,” referring to it as the “Little Satan” and advocating for the destruction of the United States, labeling it as the “Great Satan.” Such rhetoric casts doubt on their declarations of pursuing a nuclear bomb.
