But you know, the United States should pay its fair share, not everybody else’s fair share.” “We’re not going to defend you if you’re not paying your bills,” the former president said. “We have an ocean in between some problems … we have a nice big, beautiful ocean,” Trump added. “[NATO] is more important for [European countries], they will take an advantage.” Trump’s occasional warnings of potentially dismantling NATO have become a point of contention in the 2024 election.
