And why would a christian willingly misuse the good lord's name? You must ask what does in vain mean? If a wife takes her hubands last name and commits adultery, she is not acting as a wife should and she took her hubands name,,,in vain. Likewise, if we take the Lords name upon ourselves, calling ourselves Christians, but we live a life that shows otherwise, we are using his name in vain, meaning we are of no avail. It also entails using his name in conversation in any manner that does not glorify him. So if you are using it profainly, then you are obviously using it in vain, but I believe that it goes much further. I don't think most people ever consider my first example.... The posts I referred to were those made by Timbo. I was not refering to your posts. My apologies for the misunderstanding. Clearly, the discussion was ours both in the last few posts, but it's no problem. Timbo made some good points and his posts were more Christ-like than the gossip threads in the "News" section.
