Just imagine if the land they lived on belonged to muslim nations like Egypt. You would think the Muslims, considering their extremely vocal support for the Palestinians, would be receptive to an open border with them if only to facilitate arming them better. They would have no intention of honoring such an agreement.Egypt has every right to shut down that border they do not need the hassle thats going to come with such an agreement. Palestine in my opinion has put themselves into this mess. Their continual harassment of Israel has brought them nothing but headache and they still have not learned. Hamas was created with the full agreement of Palestine. Its Palestines way of striking back at Israel without being directly involved.
