A Wrong Witness
There is an event coming up in one church, and probably many others, called Burn a Quran Day.
What a horrible idea.
I do not like the religion of islam. I think it is a false religion and one that will lead far too many away from the only Living Lord. I think its imperative to witness and gain them to Christ. Burning a quran is far too "in your face" and will only cause hard feelings.
What does the bible say about bringing people to Christ? Jesus gives us the Great Commission as show below. Furthermore Paul tells how he approaches each person on their level, to show them Jesus. Paul, as blunt as he is at times, does not seek to offend with anything other than the Gospel. Jesus also gave a great example of how to witness with the woman at the well. He spoke to her on her level and showed her His truth.
We should take our lessons from the bible on how to witness. Not from the world.
Matthew 28
18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, All authority is given to Me in Heaven and in earth.
19 Therefore go and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20 teaching them to observe all things, whatever I commanded you. And, behold, I am with you all the days until the end of the world. Amen.
1 Corinthians 9
19 For though I am free from all, yet I have made myself servant to all, so that I might gain the more.
20 And to the Jews I became as a Jew, so that I might gain the Jews. To those who are under the Law, I became as under the Law, so that I might gain those who are under the Law.
21 To those who are outside Law, I became as outside Law (not being outside law to God, but under the law to Christ), so that I might gain those who are outside Law.
22 To the weak I became as the weak, so that I might gain the weak. I am made all things to all men , so that I might by all means save some.
23 And this I do for the sake of the gospel, so that I might be partaker of it with you .
John 4
6 And Jacob's well was there. Jesus, therefore, being wearied with His journey, sat thus upon the well. It was about the sixth hour.
7 A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, Give me to drink.
8 (For His disciples had gone away into the city to buy food.)
9 Then the woman of Samaria said to Him, How do you, being a Jew, ask a drink of me, who am a woman of Samaria? For the Jews do not associate with Samaritans.
10 Jesus answered and said to her, If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that says to you, Give Me to drink, you would have asked of Him, and He would have given you living water.
11 The woman said to Him, Sir, you have no vessel, and the well is deep. From where then do you have that living water?
12 Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank of it himself, and his children and his cattle?
13 Jesus answered and said to her, Whoever drinks of this water shall thirst again,
14 but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst, but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
15 The woman said to Him, Sir, give me this water, so that I may not thirst nor come here to draw.
16 Jesus said to her, Go, call your husband and come here.
17 The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said to her, You have well said, I have no husband
18 for you have had five husbands, and he whom you now have is not your husband. In that you spoke truly.
19 The woman said to Him, Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet.
20 Our fathers worshiped in this mountain, and you say that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
21 Jesus said to her, Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you shall neither worship the Father in this mountain nor yet at Jerusalem.
22 You worship what you do not know, we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews.
23 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such to worship Him.
24 God is a spirit, and they who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth.
25 The woman said to Him, I know that Messiah is coming, who is called Christ. When He has come, He will tell us all things.
26 Jesus said to her, I AM, the One speaking to you.
27 And upon this His disciples came and marveled that He talked with the woman. However, no one said, What do You seek, or why do You talk with her?
28 The woman then left her waterpot and went into the city and said to the men,
29 Come see a man who told me all things that I ever did. Is this One not the Christ?
30 And they went out of the city and came to Him.
