Colossians 3:2 - "Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth."

Many people who are filled with unbelief call themselves "realists." Unbelief is faith in the inferior. Unbelief is actually faith in something other than God. They believe the material world rules over the spiritual world. Materialism is not simply the accumulation of goods.

We can want nothing and be materialistic because materialism is faith in the natural as the superior reality. Spiritual things are discerned only in the heavenly realm, and earthly things become clear only with heavenly insight. Therefore, heaven is the only worthwhile viewing point.

God wants to have a people who are consecrated to walk in His purpose for their life, doing His work so that He might rule over the earth through them.
