Revelation. The Unveiling of Jesus Christ.

The Unveiling of Jesus Christ.             (Rev. 1: 1 – 8)

`The Revelation of Jesus Christ which God gave to Him...`   (Rev. 1:1)

Revelation – from the Greek Word `apocalypse,` meaning `to unveil.`

There has never been any monuments erected in honor of great personalities throughout the centuries that is comparable to the magnificence of this unveiling of Jesus Christ & the magnitude of His triumph.

What inexpressible pleasure God the Father enjoyed when unveiling His Son`s true character & credentials, for the purpose of showing to His bond servants the regal nature of His Well Beloved.

This unveiling of Christ`s Deity was given to John, the Apostle & he was to write it down for the Body of Christ down through the centuries.

                                                `The Revelation of Jesus Christ,

which God gave Him to show His servants – things which shortly must take place.

And He sent & signified it by His angel to His servant John,

who bore witness to the word of God, & to the testimony of Jesus Christ

& to all things that he saw.`

                                                                                           (Rev. 1:1- 2)

`Blessed is he that reads...` this prophecy as it shows the full manifestation of Christ enthroned & empowered on high. It is the Lord Jesus Christ, not only the Son of Man, but the Son of God.

`Blessed is he who reads & those who hear the words of this prophecy,

                                            & keep those things which are written in it;

                                                                    for the time is near.`

                                                                                    (Rev. 1: 3)

We then read that the whole Godhead is involved in bringing forth this wonderful unveiling

-         The Father, delighting in fully presenting His Son,    (Matt. 3: 17      Rev.1: 1,  & 4)

-         The Holy Spirit, who teaches & brings these truths to remembrance,  (John 16:13)

-         The Lord Jesus Himself who desires us to behold His glory.   (John 17: 24)

1 Thess 4:16-17

16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:\0/\o/\O/

17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. \0/\o/\O/

Rev1:7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

when i first read Rev 1:7 after doing some research regarding the Rapture i was perplexed to see this verse in chapter 1 !! and not in a much later chapter

Hi mabel,

Good spot there. It is important to distinguish between the two.

a) 1 Thess. 4: 16 - 17 refers to the Lord coming TO the clouds with those who are asleep in Him. Only those in the Body will know of His coming. No one else will see or know anything.

b) 2 Thess. 1: 7 & 8 tells us of the Lord coming with His mighty angels, in flaming fire to take vengeance on the wicked.

Rev. 1: 7 also refers to that time when the Lord will come and `EVERY EYE `will  see Him. The tribes of the world will mourn. later in Rev. we see them trying to hide in the rocks & mountains. (Rev. 6: 12 - 17)

I`m so glad you bought up those verses as they are the main reason people get muddled up about the Lord`s coming. Some say pre-trib, and some say post trib. All because they have not rightly divided the word of God.

Thank you mabel.

BTW I think as we go along in Rev. we`ll come up against all sorts of scriptures that have muddled people up. I believe if people just understood the Lord`s plans for - the Body of Christ, for Israel and for the Nations, then there would not be confusion. However because we are in our time, it seems people see God`s word as `all about us,` when it is actually all about the Lord and His purposes.

Hi mabel,

Oh I just thought maybe you meant why is His coming to the nations at the beginning. Also a good question. The first part of Revelation, the unveiling of Jesus Christ as He is known in the heavenly realms, is an overview of His Titles, and the 3 groups He has purposes for. Look to the next blog and we will see that.

Hi Walter & Deborah,

Thank you so much for your encouragement. It helps me to keep going as I know people are appreciating and receiving God`s word.

regards, Marilyn.
